I just saw the sickest trick...
SkymonkeyONE replied to freeflydrew's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Yep, I was going to say that he's done that move before. The cool thing about that newest clip is finishing the move standing on that little island. -
How amazingly unfortunate! The community has lost yet another of "the best ones." By best, I mean having such a positive influence on those around them. Shannon was a hard-core member of this community and many, many of us knew her personally. I can't think of a single instance where anyone had ever posted anything negative about Shannon. I only ever met her three times at boogies (WFFC and Dublin), but I thought she was a very cool girl. Wow. My sincerest condolences to Bob, her true NorCal skydiving family, and everyone else close to Shannon. BSBD! Chuck

US dropzones with PAC 750's?
SkymonkeyONE replied to Dumpster's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Has the PAC lived up to expectations? Positively! It only very-rarely shuts down once loads start going up. -
Not me. I had over 2000 jumps before I ever jumped a sub-100 foot canopy. I did, however, jump what was definitely the "hottest" canopies available, only not in the very smallest sizes (even though I generally only weighed about 140 pounds back then). I still managed to drag all the skin off the tops of my toes swooping in flip-flops too. Never broke a bone until 2002 at Quincy (two knuckles on my right hand, sliding to a stop after swooping the pond). I remember people telling me I was out of my fucking mind when I test jumped 150 square foot canopies for a company back in the mid 1980's. Oddly, a 150 is now considered almost a "novice" canopy to some people. Chuck

Myth Buster. the Racial Profiling of, Leroy Buckley. (aka) leroydb
SkymonkeyONE replied to RayLosli's topic in Archive
Speaking of LeRoy, is here there in TF right now? Three other Raeford guys flew out yesterday for the week. If you meet Rob (the Rigger from SkyCAT) or "Sappy Crotch" John Fulk, tell them I said to DO A TRICK! Peace -

SkymonkeyONE replied to RayLosli's topic in Archive
did I spell the word wrong? At any rate, yes, LeRoy's brother is black (at least 1/2 anyway) and he is a skydiver as well. Nice guy. I believe I actually took him on one of his last AFF jumps at Parkton. Anyway, I wasn't trying to make a stink or anything, just throwing that out there since the title of the thread was what it was. Peace, foools! Chuckie -
I just found out this morning in an e-mail from my sister that my nephew, Tucker, and his father (my brother-in-law Steve) will both be going this year. Both are skydivers. Steve actually met my sister, Ami, when they were both skydiving at my dad's DZ. They will be hooched up with my dad and them at The Alabama Gang tent and it will be the first WFFC for both of them. Tucker is 18 years old now. Please be easy on them.......NOT! Chuck

Cool. I wish I was there to assist in his tinkering! Oh well, I will be there full-time soon enough.

But his brother is, so you might want to watch the racial epitaths as it concerns to him. -
Matt, did you take any pics of Tony's suit? The write-up in Skydiving says it will not require any real "rigging". I have two guesses as to what it's going to look like. One guess is that it resembles a Prodigy, only with inflatable arm wings. The other is that it's a one piece suit that you simply have to thread the legstraps through a "skyflyer-like" vent at the crotch. edited to add: as the product has been discussed in print, I see no problem whatsoever posting photos, so give it up, sucker! Still laughing at this an hour later! But still positively uncalled for in this topical forum. Seriously.

What is the weirdest thing your cat/dog does?
SkymonkeyONE replied to flyinghonu's topic in The Bonfire
Our cat, Ellie Mae's, favorite toy is a Q-tip. Well, that and chasing a laser pointer light. The cat races to the bathroom anytime you open one of the glass containers we keep Q-tips in because she wants one to play with. When we clean the house it's not uncommon for us to find them wedged between couch pillows and hidden under furniture. Ellie also likes to give head butts. -
i can think of a number of guys which have those too Clay Fowler has some massive "moobs"
-
You are absolutely correct on all counts.

I have had two roommates who horde tons of guns, some of them clearly not very practical. Neither of those two guys ever shot through the house though. I am presently down to two pistols (large and small) myself.

You,ve just got what it takes Jen. You are also a very nice lady. I was a pleasure to meet and jump with you in Z-hills. Did you tell the furnace guy you were on a 40-way wingsuit flock? Chuck

I did not say that they had to pass military drownproofing; I said they had to pass a swim test. Jump in a pool, swim a lap in a bathing suit, get out of the pool. The swim test I had to pass to get into Special Forces was 500m in your fatigues and boots with a rubber gun. Part of the swim test you have to accomplish at the Special Forces Combat Diver course involves swimming with your feet bound and your hands tied behind your back. It's not difficult once you learn the technique. Different levels of survival skills for different levels of exposure.

I forgot to add, since Kenny Boyce was mentioned, that my FXR had the Boyce wide tire kit. One inch wider swingarm and motor/tranny mounts that moved everything left 5/8". The Boyce Pro Street swingarm will also go right on a Road King or Bagger, assuming it's got an Evo motor in it. Chuck

I think the backbone of a Dyna is too flat; too "sportsterish". A raked 1200 sporty with a wide glide conversion and a bob-tail rear fender looks nearly identical to a Dyna. My roommate's bike gets confused for one all the time. That makes me giggle. I was never too fond of Dynas because to get them nearly as low as my old FXR you really had to go with a bare-bones LePera seat and very-short shocks. Still, I like Dynas and maybe Katie will end up with one later. Chuck

I have no idea who they have writing those SUCK ASS songs for the finalists, but they are clearly targeting the "american top-40" genre....Ugh. Kat's song was incredibly bad. Taylor's might at least make some money. Anyone remember that horribly bad song they wrote for Bo last year? I wanted to smash the TV. I think Taylor is going to win, but I don't think he's going to make any money. Kind of like that fat-ass Ruben! Chuck
