  1. I have the exact same symptoms. Stomach ache, numerous trips to the bathroom. I even get what I call "kennel cough" a nervous cough. I'll never forget what helped me: walking to the plane for my level 6, with Beautiful Bonnie I turned to her and asked "Will I always feel this way?" She turned to me "feel what way?" "All these butterflied in my stomach, I feel sick." "Oh yeah, that's normal. You'll just learn to love butterflies." And she was right. I only have 175 jumps, and have been out of the sport for a year (hopefully going back this Friday, winds permitting), I STILL eat some tums before getting on that damn plane! Hang in there, it WILL get better. But watch out, if you ever lose that feeling completely, it's time to stop. my $0.02 Blue skies, deep waters, LA* Is a chicken omelette redundant?
  2. ******* CONGRATULATIONS AMY!!! ********* From the rock at the end of the earth aka Hawaii... Sure miss your smiley face in the sky. Leslie Is a chicken omelette redundant?
  3. USMCDannyboy! Hey - it's the uncurrent chick from Saturday. Nice landing. I had to bail before you got back from the field. Now I understand the chute. Still not happy about 20mph gusts tho! From what I hear of jumping in Thailand - you'll most definitely want to wear a rig on their planes... also they are tightly controlled by the government, so jumping chances might be slim. I would highly recommend getting your SCUBA there if you're grounded. It's real cheap. blue skies! Is a chicken omelette redundant?
  4. JJ Hook knife!!! Nice to see you are out and about. We all miss ya up here in the land of plenty DZs. You're a pilot now, and know tons of pilots - why don't you just make your own DZ??? Bunny
  5. Mine is GRVTGRL Borrowed it from Gravity Gear's t-shirt. :)
  6. Isn't Perris having some kind of T-day boogie? That should be fun. I'm sure there will plenty of jumpers to play with and LO's too! I *might* venture up to visit if I'm not couch-bound from turkey. :)
  7. Viking, Viking, Viking.... tsk, tsk, tsk. I'm assuming you turned low because you were aiming for the middle of the field? Remember, you can always land over by the old paintball court, there's no shame in WALKING away from a safe landing, even if you don't get to land in front. 7 more jumps and you get to go out into the REAL world and play! I bet we could even scrounge a nice rig for you up North if you want to finish your A license at a friendlier place... Blue skies! Katzeye

    100% depression

jtval - I sympathize with you. I'm out until March at least - that will make it a full year since I tore my ACL (and let's not forget the back injury). I'll have to upsize my canopy AND get a refresher jump - ach! The first month was unbearable, the second month I didn't get the shakes anymore from lack of air, the third month I was a total beach and now... well I watch the videos and say "I used to skydive!" Sometimes I even scratch my head and wonder how I did that! Katzeye
  9. play "duck, duck, goose". Especially effective for those stuck on the floor... more fun in a skyvan pet the rig in front of you and talk nice to it Flash bunny ears at everyone before leaving!
  10. *155* - eh? Is that SAS or TAS? Your arch looks great! Once you get through AFF, you will probably flatten out a bit. Concentrate on your mobility while in a nice arch. Speed is nice, so you will always have that! Blue Skies! Katzeye
  11. Viking - I heard the whole story from Dave... sorry he couldn't do your video. Good luck smoking him in freefall! :) Anyhoo, I hear your fall rate is a good 125. Keep it up! See if you can jump with someone's pro track next time - that will tell the true story! Going to see the ortho surgeon tomorrow, that will tell if I get to finish my coaching rating and teach you how to fly! :)
  12. Scan the pics of Dave and Steve swooping! Those are cool too! Katzeye/Bunny
  13. My name is Leslie and I'm an alcoholic, oh wait, no I'm not - I don't go to meetings. I'm an Account Executive for United Messaging - we outsource large company's email systems. I have a home office and often am found sneaking out around noon to survey the dropzone scene. Now if only I got cell reception at Otay I could work from the plane! Katzeye/Bunny
  14. My bad - your post is buried on page 3 or something. You STUD! What a great jump and what awareness!!! Tom is the greatest. He was my lvl 3 JM, in front of me. I kept wondering why he was moving around me in a circle, then realized I was spinning and corrected it. Your landing sounds par for the course - yeah - for a AFF graduate!!! You nailed it for your oh, SECOND landing ever!!! Can't wait until you're clear and I have my coaching rating - we'll ROCK! Katzeye/Bunny/Leslie
  15. Viking!!! How did your level 2 go Sunday? I had to bail around 1 and you were still on the field with Tom, reviewing the landing pattern, etc. Bunny/Katzeye
  16. From what I understand you "flick" that chute as if your life depends on it, because it does. And depending on the BASE, they also do a static line - type jump, where someone stays up top and holds the pilot chute. Katzeye/Bunny
  17. And in Pic #3 we can see his jumpsuit flapping about smartly in the breeze. :) I think for your level 2 you should just go naked! HA! Bunny/Katzeye
  18. We like to call that a "seatbelt check" because if the pilot does that you will know immediately if you're still strapped in! Bunny
  19. I'm amazed that you had fall rate issues with a JM. Wow, I hope you didn't pay for coaching with the smaller JM. She should have worn weights. AND - CONGRATULATIONS! Bunny
  20. Viking - you picked a good weekend to play. It's our 8th anniversary this coming weekend at Otay. BBQ, music, Otter loads and cheap jump tix. Woo hoo! Whiskey chick should be there and if you're taking AFF class on Sunday, I *might* be teaching the generic portion of it! Fly safe and have fun. Katzeye/Bunny
  21. If you're looking for a smaller DZ with a family feeling and an Otter, try Skydive San Diego, located on Otay Lake. Elsinore is also a nice option if you are looking for the family feeling.
  22. Viking - I saw the area you attempted. To give you a hint of the tool you should have used - it's big and yellow and runs on diesel. Yup, the BACKHOE! Silly skydiver... Katzeye
  23. OK, I'll throw mine in the mix too. The skydiving stuff is *old* http://www.katzeye.org
  24. There are a couple reasons I can think of off the top of my head to do SL. First, it's much less expensive than AFF. Second, when you learn canopy control first, it releases from anxiety from the freefall. When you do progress to freefall, you don't have to worry so much about the last half of the dive - landing your canopy, you already have the under control. Also, for some, freefall is not where it's at - just look at our extreme canopy pilots, they do hop-n-pops all the time. Also look at precision canopy control... Just my $0.02. I'm sure there are other reasons for SL over freefall.
  25. the DZ is my "adult" playground. Leave the kids at home or suffer the consequences!!! Katzeye
