My Goals for 08 -400 jumps this season (I did over 350 this year). -Fly camera for tandems, study hard. -Work on more bigway belly stuff. -Perfect my head up flying before moving to head down. -Get my coach rating and help students. -Get better on my 132 and improve in my high performance landings. I hope that getting the chance to do some work jumps on the weekends will help me reach some of my other goals.

If you would like to stay with a 9 cell canopy then the safire two, the pilot, and the sabre two are the three canopies I would suggest you look at. Of the three I liked the pilot the best, but I am an aerodyne brat so I am biased. I also liked the sabre 2 the least out of the three, I didn't like the openings or toggle feel. The diablo is high performance 7 cell, not well suited for a first canopy, but there is nothing wrong with a triathalon if you are looking at 7 cell canopies. Give them all a try if you can. That way you get a free canopy for a while, and you can get your own impression of each. Canopies are a lot like cars, every ones opinions are different, and most people look for different things in a canopy.

Don't understand what your questioning. It wasn't 'IFR flight conditions' at the time or we wouldn't have been jumping (except for maybe hop-n-pops if the ceiling was high enough). It was perfectly fine for flying VFR that day. I only mentioned that he must have been flying IFR because he was flying through clouds. Hmmm I thought I was being very direct. Let me be more direct, I highly doubt you were as far away from the cloud as the cloud clearances dictate. People flying the proper distance from clouds aren't often pulling high to avoid clouds, or overtaken by aircraft flying IFR through them. Personally I don't give a shit about jumping through into or around clouds, but I think you played an equal part in this. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Funny you mention that. Both! My one rig has been 95% packed all week... sitting on my floor but not closed. So I figure I better close it up, and pack my suitcase too! Often people don't realize they are low soon enough to dig out with toggles... So you want people to realize they are screwed, drop the toggles, and go to some handle on a balloon suit? If people had this capability it would be better spent on avoiding going low, or reacting properly in the first place. "The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

Do you really believe that it's so unlikely that it's okay to mock the possibility? I asked a question, so why don't you anwser it or don't bust my balls about being mocking. And no unless you are under a small highly loaded canopy, or you are using a student model AAD I don't think it will activate. I don't believe that an AAD will activate in most conditions under a partial, that is why there are student model AAD's. And that is why I asked the question. Thats because most serious landing injuries are the result of impacts straight into the ground. Most people aren't getting seriously hurt because they crashed during the surf portion of their landing. I have rolled away from tons of really bad landings unharmed because I was able to get rid of all my vertical speed at the last second and save my ass.
