  1. I never knew of this before. This is Awesome! I hope it's the start of something more mainstream. Wouldn't this make a great TV station. What goes up, must come DOWN!!!
  2. Caravan, or Otter, Maybe even a PAC. Just trying to see what's out there, and what could be suitable at that price range. What goes up, must come DOWN!!!
  3. I have heard that there are a few individuals around the US that own and lease out almost all the jump aircraft used for skydiving. Is it possible for someone to PM me their contact information. Thanks. What goes up, must come DOWN!!!

    Travel Insurance

I'm making my Christmas one of warmth, skydiving and drinking. I'll be heading down to florida like many of my fellow Canadians, and also like many of them, we need to concern ourselves with travel insurance. My company provides me with travel insurance, with non-exclusionary coverage. Any medical emergency I will be covered for. The issue is, i'm not sure the expense I may face should I get injured in the US. For common skydiving injuries, sprains, breaks, etc, what can I expect to spend for hospital fees? 5. leys too, and he recomments them greatly. Perhaps with a thin enough lens, they they'll work for me. I don't think I have a very strong perscription, but I'll check what oakleys has available, and compare that with sport rx. Sport RX has a couple that look really interesting, but I'm not sure if I want to get them, either because on the RX insert, or just the look of them alone. I'll keep looking around...with winter on the horizon, I have a little bit of time. (PS...I'm pretty drunk right now...so if what i've written doesn't make sense...I hope you can forgive me)
  6. I know some of you out there need to wear perscription glasses while skydiving...and I'm just like you. Currently, I have a pair of goggles that fit my perscription glasses inside, however, when I'm freeflying, the wind catches the bottom of the goggles and lifts them off. I'm wondering if there is a good paid of form fitting goggles that I can get which I can also have made into a perscription. Also note...I typically wear a open face helmet...I really don't like a closed helmet. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. What goes up, must come DOWN!!!

I didn't even think of using the SIM's (I'm a Canadian trained skydiver, and have never read the SIM's.) This will help out alot. Thanks. What goes up, must come DOWN!!!

    FJC Lesson Plan

I'm looking to get my rating to teach the FJC and I was wondering if anyone would be willing to share their FJC lesson plan that I could use and build from for my own lesson plan. Thanks. What goes up, must come DOWN!!!
  9. Thanks. I'll pass on the camera then, considering both my complete lack of experience, and the disadvantages with the camera, it might be better to save a bit (and jump some more) to get myself a better camera. Blue Skies All...happy jumping What goes up, must come DOWN!!!
  10. Hi I'm interested in getting into camera, and I just got a great line on this camera. What are your thoughts on using this in freefall? Thanks. What goes up, must come DOWN!!!
  11. 0:7:0 7 Jumps over the long weekend...and 7 crash landings...ouch! What goes up, must come DOWN!!!
  12. Awesome first jump...can't wait to hear about your second! Welcome to your new life! What goes up, must come DOWN!!!
  13. :3:1 My first hybrid jump. It held for about 4 seconds, but then everything went to shit. Did a second jump in the rain. Kinda stung. Final jump of the weekend was a 4,500' H&P which pretty much turned into a elevator ride straight down. Terrible winds. What a great weekend
  14. I did all my training out of a 182, and a 206 and still most of my jumping out of them. I love those little planes. What goes up, must come DOWN!!!
  15. Drive. You need to make the best impression possible, and by biking, you run the chances of messing things up. Messy hair due to wind, sweaty (as others have mentioned). Take no chances...drive it. When you get the job...then bike it
  16. Goes to show ya that a noob like me doesn't know what the hell he's talking about. What goes up, must come DOWN!!!
  17. Hey...the whole lift thing...completely forgot about that little bit. Thanks John What goes up, must come DOWN!!!
  18. lol, data would be good, but if the ratio is indeed 1:1 then his horizontal speed would be 120mph. Logically, just because you're now tracking, doesn't mean that you're falling slower (well...maybe a little, depending on the track). You're still falling at the same speed. The only way for you to actually slow down, is to increase the wind resistance on your body, and tracking doesn't do that. Anyone have any data, or perhaps very good visual information watching people track? What goes up, must come DOWN!!!
  19. 1:1 means that for every foot you go down, you travel horizontally the same distance (1 foot) My parachute has a glide ratio of around 4:1. For every 4 feet forward it goes, it drops 1 foot. Perhaps someone else can explain better... What goes up, must come DOWN!!!
  20. I've heard it's possible to get a 1:1 ratio with a good flat track...so if that's true...120mph What goes up, must come DOWN!!!
  21. I agree with Skydekker, a solid black tie would be best What goes up, must come DOWN!!!
  22. I honestly think it is the fairest method of taxation, in that it grants each person a choice to pay taxes. If they want to purchase that good...they need to pay the tax (as high as it is, but at least they can choose not to) My only problem with this, is the overall tax collections by the government. You are right in that the weathly do consume more, but they also save more. The Super Rich save alot more than they consume. Income Tax Method Although I don't know the facts, lets say a senior executive makes, in one year, $130,000,000. (130 Million) Assuming a 50% tax rate (as in Canada, not sure with US) it'll mean a tax payable of $65,000,000. Let's also assume, that through various loop holes and tax strategies, he cuts this in half to $32,500,000. This is a significant amount for income tax, and I honestly remember reading somewhere (don't know where...likely college) that 20% of the people, pay 80% of the taxes. Fair Tax When you get to people like this, that may only actually spend $20 million in a year, at the same 50% tax, they only pay $10 million in taxes. Although it would be a fair system for the middle and lower class, in order to offset the loss in taxes from the rich, one must increase tax rates, which will drastically reduce the purchasing power of the dollar. Anyone have comments? What goes up, must come DOWN!!!
  23. :1:0 Our club just opened up here in the Great White North. Although I was grateful for a jump after a 3 1/2 month layoff, I was pissed that half way through the day, the pilot tied down the plane and took off...that puck didn't even tell manifest. Not only that, but an hour later, the skies cleared an we could've got 6 or 7k easy (we were only doing 3,500'). But overall...great weekend.
