  1. It was disappointing a coupla times to be kicked off the load as an observer, simply due to the limit of 15. Length of runway and temperature + load limits in those conditions were cited, but in the two years previous under Fayard, We always had 25. With tach time being what it is, I don't see how the CASA is affordable.
  2. but they did significantly change the loading restrictions from what Fayard allowed. At the Pepperell Boogie (where were you Howard?) they only allowed 13-15 slots in the aircraft. That was disappointing.

    Talon FX

I like my FX as well. Considering sending it back to RI for the wingsuit mod...can you post some pictures of yours? I have the mods on my Voodoos, but not on the FX.
  4. I believe Tonfly has different sized shells, you might want to look at the Diablo and talk to Giovanni.
  5. Or for one of the AFFI's to have stayed in the plane with the student. FWIW, the area is entirely hayfields (and that's where they landed). The hay is cut/baled. Haybales could have constituted an obstacle. Baled hay is pretty obvious from the air, but when you're flying towards it they can seem to be coming up fast. not sure it's the best place for a student to land.
  6. Nice fine, Matt. Thanks for sharing.

    Amazing day!

great story, thank you for sharing. You're right. We miss so many of the little things.
  8. in terms of quality, the 1/5/7 are all the same encoder. I've no experience with the 5 or 7, so can't comment from there. The quality of the TG 1's image is just fine for tandems, but I don't know if the camera will hold up well enough, unless you've got a Cookie or other housing for it. The CX105 is a great little brick cam for what it is, there is a huge thread already dedicated to that subject, please use that as your source of information on the camera. If your jump numbers are accurate, there is the obligatory caution about doing too much at once. Start with video for at least 100 jumps; get familiar with the weight, sight picture, and flying with eyes in the back of your head before attempting to put on a ring sight and still camera. Putting all things on the helmet at once is begging for some kind of trouble either major or minor. Read Cameras 101 on the homepage, read the sticky at the top of this forum. Welcome to camera flying!
  9. 9 months... What difference does length of time in sport make? I saw a video recently of a naked tandem, shot by someone with many more years experience than I, that was absolutely for shit. Never below the student so that the breast could be seen (no different than getting low to catch the drogue above their heads). Videographer docked on the student, so there are a few seconds of GREAT FOOTAGE of the TI. On the orbit, he paused at the places that can't be seen well but are obviously distasteful as opposed to being a little higher and shooting a nice angle of a smooth behind. Moreover hands, nipples, and even chins were cropped off in a lot of shots. Or are you about to brag because you just got to shoot a nekid tandem? If you are, remember that it's still about the student, it's THEIR jump, and if it gives you a hard-on...tough shit. You still shoot the very best you can to provide artistic angles, pretty footage, and invoke smiles and moments so they'll remember this special skydive forever. Just keep a copy for yerself.
  10. you can also call Charlie Blachman at Zreiss. he can help you out. Use my name if you wanna hear an earful of Yiddish cussing, but he loves me anyway. They're the Raynox importer for the USA.

    Who's next?

I volunteer, she still owes me one from another post. What for? I can't tell you. You'd have to have access to the team room. And I don't need a reason for wanting a spankin' from 'Mama.
  12. I gots no problem with the reload. It's simply the length of time it takes to fire the weapon. I agree, quid pro quo, but for the to be a quid pro quo, there has to be "Is est vobis."
  13. providing proof is easy yet embarrassing. It's funny, the grass is always greener, eh? I'd give my left nut to be a 3 minute guy. hell, i'd give my left nut to be a 10 minute guy. I'll give you a hint; Remember always..... Ladies come first. Always. In everything, in every way. Right down to opening doors for them. Train yourself in that respect, and eventually it becomes habitual. Here's another tiny hint... When you're done, YOU get up off the bed and bring her a warm towel and you do the housecleaning for her. Try it. Just once. You might be very pleased at the result.
  14. This is something the youngsters don't *quite* get, Stoney....So many of the things we heard of as kids have not only happened, but happened larger than expected. Look at what has happened with the internet alone....I remember seeing my father's corporate computer back in the 70's; it was larger than my house in footprint. I do believe some sort of landing will occur as well. but why we're wasting SO MUCH TIME talking about it is meaningless. Its' not really related to skydiving, IMO. It's a stunt that may lead to something more. I doubt it will involve what most of us think of as "wingsuits." Always grateful to know someone has read that blather. Most of this group is mentioned in there from time to time. I'm very appreciative of this community. Scotty, Justin, BSR, Andreea...a number of you have really helped me cope with the challenges I've lately experienced.
  15. Jay Stokes, June 13, 2009. Having attended Jay's course in Eloy 4 months previously, and having observed his course at Skydive Hawaii in May, 2009 I assure you this training _is_ part of his course. As mentioned far upthread, it was a King Air 90, with a field altitude of 4200 MSL.
  16. have a wonderful birthday, O. Nice that you're celebrating it in the air under that crisp new Pilot.
  17. Considering they're the ones that put it on the ballot . . . it's more than just opinion. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/15/us/politics/15marriage.html?_r=3&pagewanted=1&hp&oref=slogin The Mormon Church also upset/blew away the ERA amendment. Sonya Johnson, yadayada. The LDS church is one of the most powerful lobby groups on the face of the planet if for no reason other than they own nearly 10% of the total media in the USA. Gee...I wonder where their corporation got all those funds as an NPO?
  18. Hoodman and Hood Pro both make great LCD shades or you can make your own....I never shoot outdoors without one, even when using eyepiece. Well worth it. Anchor elbows into your stomach like legs of a tripod. Zoomed in all the way and panning will NEVER result in a smooth shot in small sensor camcorders when handheld. Just can't happen. Even on a cheap tripod, it won't work. You need heavy sticks. And/or a Teledapter lens.
  19. Mine too. "Dear God, Just once, please let me have three O's like she does before I'm done?" Now that is just flat out bragging. Remember, I'm older than you. Don't need Viagra yet, but sure wish there was a "speed up" on my clock.
  20. Now I know why Tony ran out of Royal Blue fabric....
  21. Mine too. "Dear God, Just once, please let me have three O's like she does before I'm done?"
  22. Because we're supposed to be trained, experienced, professionals that have been taught how to manage ourselves in an emergency situation?
  23. Your video is in a problem codec so I can't see it. Lemme get this straight; you're blaming the camera because you couldn't use the display as a framing preview? Or blaming the cam because you can't hold your hands steady? Beanbags, micropods, or pistol grips work really well for this sort of thing if that's the case.
