Like Chris said, like "ochre" the color, but those damn miners didn't know how to spell. Maybe they were from San Francisco by way of Florida and Texas. Gonna be fun to have you here, Matt.

I have two Wallace brackets plus that big ugly shoe with the bracket on the back. I'm sure we can get 2 min smoke this year vs the crappy skydiver smoke we used last year.

and now we've all peeked into Matt's desire for correct spelling and grammar. English simply sucks. Utah has its own form of English. kno' whut ah' meeyan? BTW, "Tooele" is pronounced "Two-ill-ah" for when you're on the phone talking to the hotels.
  4. On April 30, May 1/2, we'll be holding a wingsuit event/camp at Skydive Hawaii on the island of Oahu. All are invited. We're planning on setting a Hawaiian State Record, plus some killer flocks over the sea. Whales should still be in the area, and it's quite common to see cow/calves in the ocean near the DZ. We have enough good flyers for a 4 way, so hoping to make it bigger, badder. To jump at Skydive Hawaii, you must have a B license unless you did your AFF there. Airfares are pretty low right now. So are beach rentals near the DZ in Mokulea, Haleiwa, Wailua, and even Waimea. Look at beach properties vs hotels. I found a beach house for $80.00 per night, less than 5 mins from Dillingham Field. Cheapest area hotel I found was 190.00 per night. LOTS of desperate B&B's in the area. This is where "LOST" exteriors are filmed. It's gorgeous. Fly into HNL, drive 45 mins north on the H2 if you want to stay in Waikiki. Jumping starts fairly early (8 a.m.) and is finished by 2-3 in the afternoon, depending on tradewinds. LOTS to do in the area, and you'll be hard-pressed to find a better DZ. I'll have several demo suits from Phoenix Fly and Tony with me as well. p.m. me for info, or contact Tom Deacon atSkydive Hawaii. (808) 637-9700 We'll give a new meaning to "Hang Ten." Aloha! http://www.oahunorthshoremap.com/Area_Maps/north_shore_area.html
  5. Some instructors promote barrel rolling before deployment, too.

I could. Might be more fun for Monkey, Mike, Justin, Scotty to elaborate. They've flown Settlement Canyon. HALO jump from 24k MSL/19K AGL. Gorgeous mountains/valleys, feels incredible because although we're way above, you still experience ground rush flying down the ridgeline.

July 9, 10, 11 at Skydive Utah Specialty jumps, plus flocking over the Great Salt Lake. A beautiful place to jump. Still working on what additional aircraft we'll have. Specialty jumps over Oquirhh and Timpanogos mountains. SLC international is 11 miles away, several hotel options in Tooele, Utah just a few minutes away.
  8. Perhaps.... perhaps not. I held my coach rating for much longer than a year before undertaking the AFF course because even tho I had the time required, I didn't feel I was ready. Had I been told I had to wait a year, like most people, I wouldn't have wanted to and the year fixation might have made me challenge the course sooner, if that makes any sense. If not on my personal experiences, what should be the foundation of my opinion?
  9. Hmmmm, correct me if I am wrong but you have to have a coach rating in order to get your tandem rating or atleast that was the case back when I got my tandem rating. In fact I just got my USPA tandem rating a couple years ago and to get that I had to preform a coach jump. Also if skydiver "B" was that great after 1 year in the sport, he should only get better after 3 years in the sport. Yes, you must have a coach rating prior to any advanced I rating. I agree with this. Having it for 7-8 years before seeking the I rating doesn't mean you used it. Hell, I watched with mine own eyes as one Coach course director handed a coach rating to a very experienced skydiver. Literally. No jumps, no course. Just a written test. In this regard, your argument is very weak. BTW, I agree with time-in-sport requirements. I'd agree with time-in-sport for AFFI as well, even though it would have affected my own goals at the time. But it's only one facet of what requirements should be observed. Even then, they're fairly easy to skate. And yes...if Skydiver B was that good after one year, he'll likely be 2X better in two more years. But....Skydiver A isn't remotely as good as Skydiver B on his best day, in spite of more than a decade of additional experience. Ergo; time in sport alone, cannot be a measurement of anything significant.
  10. I also jump at Elsinore. I stow my brakes in the landing area after turning around and scanning the sky to see who is coming down. As a wingsuiter, I'm often landing at the same time as tandems. It's a concern to see 3-4 people walking in from the landing area as they're talking, not paying attention. Worse is when you *think* you know where they're walking and they stop or move to another direction when you're committed to where you're going to set down.
  11. Person A-has 900 jumps/12 years, most of them solos or horny gorillas with newer jumpers, females who are nice looking. Can't fly well enough for the coach rating let alone anything else, but achieves a tandem rating. He comes from a fairly small DZ, hasn't experienced injuries, fatalities, nor bonfires. Person B- has 500 jumps, 1 year, large DZ, jumping/learning with some of the best in the US. Lots of coaching, tunnel time, passion. spends every minute in books, IRM, very capable. He's also very active in BASE, paragliding, and similar endeavors. There are many that would say that Person A is the better skydiver.
  12. He might be much taller, but my..... Stealth tail is significantly longer. What was funny is that during Stefan's FFC, I noted that his Phantom2 offers more wing fabric than my Mach1 does. If Stephan gets into a Stealth2, I think Robi will need to charge double just for the amount of fabric used.
  13. Similar experience, I was flying one of the prototype Stealth2's. 182 seconds, min 24, max 66, avg 38. Damn, I was tired. Exit was 13,400 and in the saddle at 2690. The suit mostly flies itself. I did have nasty line twists on that jump, but that was of course, me. Super fun suit to fly. Grippers are not at all needed, just curl a pinky finger to the back. The one I flew doesn't have the front tail vent, just the attachment point for the tail when walking around. I'll post more on it once I've gotten more flight time with it.

    Labia Makeup WTF?

Where the extended length, extended turgidity 12" schlong I've been looking for?
  15. First...you're mixing patent law and copyright law, and they're very different animals. Second, your comment I quoted above sincerely intriques me. At the risk of this becoming a Speakers Corner discussion, I'd sure appreciate some insight as to exactly what you mean with that last statement as being a holder of hundreds of copyrights, I fail to see how anyone BUT me can generate revenue from my work without violating my rights.
  16. Quite a few US birds are flying to Hawaii for this event; we'll be able to put up a really fun time for everyone who participates. Looking like it'll be a blue/yellow load. We're gonna shoot for a state record, so bring your best game!
  17. It doesn't make it OK, but it does significantly apply to proof of authorship. You could say "you" took it with a digital camera 6 months ago just as easily as he could say he took it with a silver camera 20 years ago. Copyright law is cut/dried in this sort of instance. Ownership/Authorship lies with the photographer. If he handed over the neg, then it would be an implication that he handed over rights, but it's still a defensible case in his favor (IMO) in that situation too. Without explicit permission in writing, the implied ownership always lies with the author.
  18. With only four that came in, the one that "broke" two rules was included to puff it a little.
  19. We'll be holding the third Annual Freeflock Utah event in Erda, UT on July 9,10, 11. If you've never been, ask your friends who have. The previous two have been a blast. While we have a bend towards wingsuiting, there is organizing for FF and FS too. Specialty jumps over the Great Salt Lake at sunset plus speciality wingsuit runs, too. Very easy to get here with SLC International being 11 miles from the DZ. Lotsa low-cost hotels in the neighborhood. NASCAR track 1 mile away too. Skydive Utah Website
