  1. That comparision doesn't work. Many professional drivers have mp3 playlists connected to their communications systems. One of the semi-pro forums has several threads dedicated to discussing the types of music that helps the drivers focus better. The discussion is as lively as it is here, ranging from "You should ONLY listen to classical" to "Heavy metal with pounding drums keeps up my intensity."

    burning sensation

Damage your spinal cord or peronial nerve branch and you get the fortune of feeling it for a couple years. Nerves apparently repair at about 1mm a day. I'd argue it's slower. Hope your burn goes away. A nerve block can help w/that.
  3. Barely. If you're going to push color, do transisitons, etc...it'll do lightweight editing, but barely. I sure wouldn't put it into a fast turnaround mix. I have the latest Apple and the lastest fromHP (intel Atom 1.66) and it's nothing to write home about for AVCHD or AVC.
  4. I suppose I'm not terribly creative. With two Voodoos and two Talons (one FX and one FS), I can't think of anything I'd change. Pocket on both for carrying pullup cord, stowbands, and 20.00 for that off-landing ride (thankfully not spent since Flock n' Dock) Solid riser covers that don't move. Solid toggle keep system. 9' bridles with larger PC, superlight hackey for wingsuiting. Vented backpad Cut in laterals Dynamic corners/cut corners Easy pack reserve system Sweet fit Killer customer service. Price could be lower, but they say that about Ferrari's, too.
  5. A-who gives a shit if you "bought" the basket if it's stuff you can use, and the money is coming from one source vs several. B-It's no one else' business how much you've spent. And yes...you're an asshole, but you're OUR asshole.
  6. IMO, I'd take the Canon. The DIGIC processor is recognized by most at the semi-pro and pro level as being the cleanest image (low light noise suppression) and Canon just 'does' this stuff well. Samsung is a great brand, but optics aren't their strong suit.
  7. Didn't realize this is an m2, now that you point it out, the pin config sure is the same. The card in the cX100 is slightly longer, but the pinout is the same. Thanks for that!
  8. My heart. Or my left ear. I'm told I have a great earlobe
  9. Entirely probable that you have a card that can't read fast enough. Cheap cards and video cameras don't make good bedmates.
  10. I'll resize and post em' with your permission.
  11. I too, use a modular system. Booties rarely go on, I prefer shorts. I do roll into a sit at deployment, however. Jackets are exceptionally useful, IMO. The "cool kids" may not wear them, but they get a lot of shots like the one attached (shot this past weekend by someone without a jacket).
  12. Somewhere in the hundreds of posts on lenses I posted shots of a rez chart with all the various "choice" lenses. Bottom line is this: the .55 is a very good lens, capable of letting your camera resolve over 600 lines. It's clean, it works great. It's 3X what the Diamond or Cookie lenses resolve. Is it 1080 clean? No. For 150.00...nothing is going to be. It is by standard, capable of resolving full resolution for 720p, and it's JUST FINE for HD (and SD) work. No, it's not full rez. Who cares? B&H is right.
  13. Wait til you have more experience. Borrow a suit from the DZ, or if you feel you need something lose and flappy, get a cheap mechanic's suit for now. Work on your fall rate skills as best you can with your instructor. I had a student yesterday on a recurrency that weighed in at 230lbs. Dressing him in an old baggy suit and me in a speed suit worked well. For now, it's the DZ's responsibility to dress you and your instructor as close/best scenario possible. Spending a coupla hundred bucks on a really floaty suit that you may not need in a month or two probably is worth some reconsideration. Your instructors should know what to do....Buying a floaty suit right now probably isn't the correct course. Then again....your instructors are right there, and they can see you in action. We can't.
  14. The instructor should have tracked off, checked over his shoulder (to see if the student had followed), and deployed at 3.5, that's what he was trained to do. This emergency procedure should/would have cued the student to do the same. As far as controlling the canopies, USPA doctrine (SIM 5.1) teaches that in a stable bi-plane, the toggles or rear risers of the front canopy should be used to steer canopies. The rear canopy's toggles should remain stowed. Inputs should be minimal. I don't believe that this instructor has had a two-out before, so it's anyone's guess as to why he used front risers vs toggles on the forward canopy. Habit?
  15. why do you need three logging devices? What reason would you have for needing two altimeters on your wrists? I'd recommend you consider looking at an alti and comparing with your eyes to better train your brain as a primary altitude device. Let the audible sit in a box for a while, IMO. FWIW, I wear an Altitrack on my wrist or mudflap, and have a Solo in one helmet and Optima in another. My "funjumping" helmet that has no camera mounts has no audible in it.
  16. Sandisk customer service should be able to read the card and put the files in an email zip file. I don't know if any readers commercially available for the semi-proprietary cards that are built for Sony, Panasonic, and Hitachi (maybe someone else, too...)
  17. Reward to student: They get to do a skydive where they think they're really flying (with a G/R of more than 1:1, maybe they are, sorta). They get to wear wings and feel like "Batman." I don't think anyone would have a clue about the difference between drogue-assisted and wingsuit freefall. Risk to student; hell...I just don't feel like typing all that. This TI, who is supposed to be a very experienced wingsuit pilot, seems to be struggling to keep alignment. What if the student is much taller? Sidespin recovery? Flatspin recovery? I don't think it is as dangerous as people make it out to be if preserved in a bubble, but as a general practice and not a stunt? It's a frightening thought.
  18. As LouDiamond mentioned, there are at least two others out there too. One of em' was shown in a presentation at PIA a couple of years ago pointing out that "the day people try to commercialize wingsuit tandems isn't that far off."

Actually, it's brilliant. Once upon a time, there was a man named Sam Cringes. He craved attention. And here's how he got it.... Startling Statement Ask a question bearing on a need Mystery Question (Fuller brush uses this a lot) Compliment Referral Insult News or big name Gift Exhibit/Example Service Basic marketing stuff. I'd say Ward is doing pretty damn well now that his strategy is established. People are talking. No such thing as bad publicity.
  20. As much as I love my FTP, it's simply not wide enough for the camera bodies, lenses, flash that I want to use. I've put the wider plate on it, for wingsuiting it's not reasonable, it's a rudder. The Wes Vapor isn't a lot better in that regard, but it is better. I've got 7 jumps with the WVP, and I really like it. It does suck for general wingsuiting, however. But it is better than the current crop of "bigger top" helmets, IMO. I've wasted so damn much money on the FTP to try to make it be what I want...It's well made, I feel it's better made than the WVP in terms of construction and design but it also weighs more. BTW, I'm flying the Tonfly X3 for non-still jumps. It weighs less than the CX100 and a lens adapter, and is every bit as solid as my FTP.
  21. Wow! Terrific work!! Thank you for sharing the pix.
