  1. I think, focus on getting your A-license and learn how to pack _______________________________________
  2. yippie..more paperwork What is an A-line?
  3. "I'm putting together a maintenance schedule to had out with new and used gear sales. I have my tentative list with frequency, but let me hear a shout out from all of you consumers AND riggers. What would your list say? " Think thats a very nice idea. Would be very usefull information to people new in the sport (like me ). _______________________________________
  4. 25 jumps and already two cut-aways? How did you do that? You must have had some really bad luck...that's one cutaway per 10 jumps..Those are not very good stats _______________________________________
  5. download Irfanview (a picture viewing program) install it run it press 'c' (for capture) press ok press 'ctrl f11' to capture your design save it to jpg upload it to this forum

  7. Well..you don't really need a tunnel with 777777 jumps in your logbook .. Getting some tunneltime is great...regardless if you have jumped from an airplane or not. I think you will be much more relaxed on your first AFF-jump if you know you can fall stable at one-point (not moving forward/turning etc). You can practise turns in the tunnel too...It will only make you go through AFF more easily. Have fun _______________________________________
  8. The pilot seems to have better openings then the sabre2. I have demoed the smart 175 and have nothing but praise for it. Was my first jump on a 7-cell and it felt very reliably. The flare was pretty powerful and my landing was very easy. The smart flies very forgiving..slow speed and turns....I couldn't get it to spiral quickly with normal toggle input . As my wingloading on it was 1.2, your smart will fly even more forgiving. I would go for a pilot/smart/vector or a pilot/pdr/vector. You can't go wrong with either choice
  9. hello mnealtx, Besides reading reviews I would strongly recommend that you demo one. You might otherwise end up with a chute you don't really like Most people downsize rather quickly from a 0.9 wingload. Are you sure you want to buy everything new? Maybe buying used is a better option, especially if you don't jump that often. If you really want to buy new, buy a rig in which you can downsize a bit... Do you know what the differences are of a 7 and 9 cell chute? First I would decided which kind of chute you want. "I'm looking for good maneuverability, glide and flare." If it's good glide ratio you want you go for a 9 cell (the pilot, sabre2). The pilot and sabre2 are both very nice chutes. I have flown both but like the pilot just a little bit more. Other people like the sabre2 more. It's personal and that why you should be demoing both of them before you buy. The silhouette is also very nice. Both reserves are good choices. Just put one in the rig which fits the best. The differences in size (235 or 220) are probably so small you won't even notice them in flight. There's a lot of info in other threads about buying your first gear and wether or not to buy new/used..read them all . take a look at this too http://www.dropzone.com/safety/Gear_and_Equipment/index.shtml _______________________________________

  12. damn you ..NOT FAIR.. Now I'm jealous.... Santa won't be dropping a rig through my chimney at christmas..... _______________________________________
  13. 'We are now talking about the dutch customs, aren't we." Of course we are As for letting you take the rig as hand luggage both ways. I don't see why they shouldn't. Can't be sure though but I wouldn't check your rig in as normal luggage. If you really want to be sure..give the airline a call about it. Maybe it's also a good idea to bring some papers along proving that you are in fact a skydiver...(logbook, knvvl membershhip etc). _______________________________________
  14. Thanks for the quick reply. Too bad I already ordered an icon i5 so I can't wait anymore for the laterals . The icon is a very sweet rig...it will be even better with the cut in laterals. If you also could lower the delivery time from 14 weeks to lets say 4 ..oh what a perfect world it would be
  15. Officially....I think so..but what is the worst that can happen if you just walk through? That customs give you a routine check and that you have to pay the taxes anyway??? _______________________________________
  16. Hi s7ven, Well..you should declare the rig you bought when you pass through customs .. You then have to pay 19% BTW and 2.7% importtax on the chutes. I don't know what the rate is for the container but I guess it's around 2.7-6%. When are you planning to go to the states? I am thinking about it to make a trip as well to the US (to pick up my rig)... _______________________________________
  17. The i1 to i4 have cut-in-laterals. The i5 and i6 have not. I wonder why. Is there any reason why a bigger container is better off with no cut-in-laterals? _______________________________________
  18. "I'll take into account that you and bch7773 are real experts when it comes to training students and the place of PLF's". Read my post again a bit more carefull this time please. I just asked some questions and did not attack you in any way. No..I'm not if you were referring to me and bch7773. Actually I didn't get an in-depth course how to do a PLF as well..I just was told keep your feet together/bend your knees and just fall down..don't break your fall with your arms...Same stuff you tell your students appearantly.. Of course AFF is ineffecient for the instructor who wants to train as many students as possible. I misunderstood. I thought you meant AFF is inefficient for the student so he/she would be better off with SL and I don't agree with that. I look through the eyes of a student..not an instructor. I forgot most DZ use radios for students. Never used a radio though through AFF. My DZ doesn't use radios. Maybe that has something to do with SL'ers being better canopy-pilots. "and there is no way they can focus on good canopy skills......mostly its "listen to the radio".... " If you take the radio away they have to fly and make decisions for themselves. _______________________________________

  20. "It is much easier, quicker and SIMPLER to teach students to simply keep their legs, knees and feet hard together right thru the landing......" If you also tell them not to break their fall with their arms this will come very close to a PLF, right? At least in my book
  21. That is what sid was talking about peterk " http://www.packingparachutes.com/...iques_tips/greed.htm Sid" _______________________________________
  22. Yes, from jump 14 I packed for myself...or at least I was trying to. In a month I will have a new zp chute...there is a chance I will use a packer for a while then _______________________________________
