  1. very nice rig harro "beam me up scotty....to 12000ft"
  2. Zipper, I think you misunderstand. The decision altitude is 2000 so she will cutaway above 2000 if she has a malfunction. Normal altitude for opening her main is not lower then 3500ft so that leaves her a margin of 500ft to identify a mal and deal with it.. A reserve doesn't take 1000ft to open but less then 300ft
  3. hello michelle, You must forgive my poor english. It's not my native language but what I meant to say was exactly what Merrick explained to you. You said in your post : "She asked me to post because she didn't want any bad publicity from her DZ."..I understood from that, that she wasn't talking about it at her DZ and I totally agree with your advice to tell the DZO and/or ST&A about it. Just wanted to say this myself although I'm eternally grateful Merrick helped me out here :)...
  4. An instructor should have known better..Maybe if she reads the posts here now and then she might learn a lesson here. If she wants to have fun why should she force others into doing things they don't want just because it pleases her (selvish person!)..She sounds like a b***h. Probably is too. I take it she doesn't talk about this at her DZ because she doesn't want bad publicity. I think however that the other person sure is talking about it behind her back putting her in bad daylight. Just wondering...when she grabbed her to play..did she signal a waveoff to let her know that she should release her?

hi there pologrl, don't use the link of the first two homepages...just type in the adres yourself because the link doesn't work
  6. well..personally i think the havok in my attachment is the nicest full face helmet I've seen so far...very cool design
  7. just a ltitle question...Is this an havok too (see attachment? It looks so different then the ones I see on the internet and on boneheads webpage...What is the difference between them because they really don't look alike I think
  8. Banging with a cypres doesn't sound like a good idea to me. Probably best to switch if off and let it dry for a long time (there could still be some water inside and what can happen when something short circuits when your in the air...prem depl). Besides the hazard of a short circuit, the airpressure sensor could be damaged by the water..I don't know how the sensor works however put it's a possibility. I would ask some advice from SSK or Airtec before you go up again.
  9. anyone who would let a 7-year old jump solo is mentally disturbed...but I don't think that would happen anywhere
  10. landed six feet from target....gee...I am a skygod...
  11. good after sales services should be the very important to every company...If one would f..k that up they will loose customers. Not very smart for Mirage...which is to my understanding one of the most important rig-manufacterers. Fab (newbie)
  12. of course...you're right....why didn't i think of that...was pretty late when I posted that i think. Thanks :)
  13. of course not...you have to do a resfreshment course and maybe a jump with an instructor..depends on the dz I guess... You should give your dz a call...they will know what you have to do and how much it will cost ya
  14. Hello weber, Although I'm a newbie I would just like to say the size of air molecules has nothing to do with flights charasteristics of a parachute. A molecule is a collections of certain atoms which forms a substance (oxygen for instance). You can't change it's size (with a parachute) The bigger the canopy is the more lift you would have. I don't know if the 135 lbs person would descent faster then the 210 lbs person. That depens on the charasterics of the chutes they're using.. You have to see it like this...Gravity pull at a person at a constant force...(Force down= mass of person * 9.81)..that's easy... However, a chute pulls the person up with a force which will depend off the mass a person, shape of the canopy, size of the canopy, altitude and downwords speed and some other variables i forgot. This could look like Force up = mass of person * square root of down_speed * size parachute to the power of two or whatever.. A leighter person would have a lower down force (so is decending slower) but also a lower up force because he (or she) is flying a smaller canopy (which means the person if descending faster). Which force wins the match...who shall say....Different chute's will have different descent rater.. I one don't agree with me..please ..let me know...I can be wrong because I'm a soooooooo new at this sport :)...
  15. Hee Fonz...here also? Is www.parachute.nl becoming to boring? :)
  16. Strange dropzone you have :)... What kind of advice have you had from your instructors to solve your instabilty... Well...if AFF isn't an option because of a temporary shortage of money I would go to a windtunnel like skymedic suggested. Skymedic is a very wise man :).... The use of windtunnels are cheap right? Personally I wouldn't jump anymore (alone out of an airplane) until I am sure I can pull stable.. Also am i wondering if you have to pull within 5 seconds after exit how hard it is to become stable again if your exit isn't good. In 5 seconds you don't reach terminal velocity right? The stronger the relative wind is how easier it will be to become stable right? I'm not sure about this so correct me if I'm wrong. Maybe it's an idea when you start jumping again to let your jm video your exit so you can see what you're doing wrong..
  17. Doesn't America have public transportation like trains or busses? :)... Maybe you could ask your instructor to make an exception for you and still do an aff-jump with two instructors. Or isn't that allowed (against regulations)... Three tandem jumps in AFF...what's the purpose of that? We don't have such an aff-course here in the netherlands...
  18. I have to agree with Skymedic. You can do at least the first jump of the aff-course. I would say the safety is more important then those few extra dollars. I'm still a student (newbie) myself and I'm still in AFF. I chose AFF because i wanted freefall from the very first time and because you're not alone in the air. First two jumps I looked at the ground beneath me what made me also very instable because I wasn't arching. Fortunatle my jumpmasters were there to prevent me from flipping on my back. Third jump I wasn't looking at the ground anymore but just put my head back and looked up as far as possible (still relaxed), arch, hips out and relax your hands...That was my first perfect 'fun' jump. You should practise your box position more with your instructor and at home in front of your mirror. Ask your instructor for advice... He knows best (I hope :) ) Although I'm not an expert (far from it :) )..a cutaway while your feet is in the lines sounds like a very dangerous situation. What is hop 'n pop and a stepthru? Don't think you aren't capable of doing something because then you will fail at it for sure...
