  1. I can add that the pilot also packs easier then a brand new sabre2. I just tried packing mine for the first time...@_$*&#*&*@@@@ _______________________________________

    soft links

"Ok, I see what you are getting at. OTOH, if he's got 100 rides on his reserve, he has bigger worries than slink compatibility! "

    soft links

Hi, I'm in the process of changing canopies and I have a few questions. I now have an icon with aerodyne soft links... Is it a good idea to reuse a soft link with 100 jumps on it or is it a better idea to use brand new pd soft links instead (on aerodyne's risers)? What slinks are better..pd's or aerodyne's? Aerodynes looks more safer because of the big brass ring....so I guess there's a smaller chance of the slinks come undone? Thanks _______________________________________
  4. I did a fun freefly jump with another jumper last month....we hold on to eachother and we were spinning (delibirate) so hard that when we let go of eachother we were both catapulled away from eachother and ended up spinning up on my back....Arching hard didn't do the trick..kept on spinning...tucking up like a ball...maked myself as small as possible then tried again and got out of the spin immediately.. _______________________________________

    crack 3 ring

Hi, I have a question...I have a rig (half year old) with a ring on my harnas showing two cracks. It is said (by riggers) that it's a forging fault. They are not normal scratches from normal use but it's clearly visible and you can feel it. Although my rigger sais it's safe to jump for now he is not very happy with it also. it's stainless steel so it's not the coating. My question...the manufacturer is offering to replace the ring..but that means harnas work...removing stitching and fix it again. I don't like the idea of harnas work on a rig that's only a half year old. if harnas work is done won't the harnas itself be less strong/reliable? What do you think? I appreciate your thoughts/input...thanks _______________________________________

  9. The pilot is a little more docile than a sabre2/safire2. The pilot will recover from a turn/dive more quickly. Sabre2 has more flare in the beginning of the stroke then the pilot. They both land pretty easily I think. There are lots of threads/reviews between these chutes...try a search and you will find what you're looking for.. _______________________________________
  10. My only experience with an ultralight is almost having a mid-air collision with the #(*$&*#(@# during deployment. He thought it was good idea to fly over a DZ. 10 jumpers deployment around him during a 10-way!! As he was coming up from behind I only saw him when it was too late to do anything. Falling out of the is a lot better then falling into them. _______________________________________
  11. I have an icon and am still very pleased with it... Also if I was planning to buy a new car it would also consider a toyota avensis.....Toyota is indeed very reliable and durable..it's a quality car. Damn...this doesn't look good ...do you think I'm gambling with my life? I think what it comes to is indeed what you said "no one will admit to spending over a thousand bucks on not the best rig". The same statement applies to you as well. _______________________________________
  12. 2 years ..must be record or can anyone top this? I enjoyed level 3 the most because I was realesed on this dive and one off my instructors got in front of me...and I was perfectly stable
  13. going from a 280 to a 170 in one step is NOT a good idea...Put a few on a 230/210/190.. _______________________________________
  14. My first clear and pull at 3500ft after AFF...damn..that seemed so low ..really freaked me out...Especially because my first c&p wasn't good enough according to the jumpmaster and I had to repeat it .. _______________________________________

  16. What don't you like about the sabre2? I just demoed a sabre2 150 and I now find my pilot 168 really boring/slow so I'm thinking about buyin a new chute. I was thinking about the safire2 too but there haven't found a demo yet. What are your opinions about the sabre2 and safire2? _______________________________________
  17. That will be a BIG maybe if there will be a windtunnel in the Netherlands. I have my doubts about that one. There will also be no swooppond in Teuge because Airport Teuge won't give permission/approval _______________________________________
  18. The nitro is from precision right? I'm not allowed to jump that canopy yet until i have 500 jumps _______________________________________
  19. I own a pilot 170...it's a very nice chute but I'm thinking about downsizing so I demoed a pilot 150 last week.the pilot 150 flies pretty sweet...on my third jump I was screaming with joy on the way down
  20. ...guess I won't be visiting ameland for a while now knowing this ..shame..it was on my list though _______________________________________
  21. I have 230 jumps and still have only an a-license....Would like to have my B (and C) though...I only need to do one 8-way and that's it . But it's only a piece of paper..... edited to add: probably a good idea to first complete your aff-training before thinking about getting linceses _______________________________________
  22. Thanks ..interesting to know that... What kind of interference with ground systems are we talking about then? _______________________________________
  23. Actually the reason we need cell towers is that the bandwidth is not unlimited. Each cell tower uses different frequencies/channels (usually there are three directional antennas in each cell). The neighbouring tower uses other frequencies so they won't overlap and the won't interfere with eachother...In a certain distance where the signal strength of a frequency has become 0 a tower can reuse a certain frequency again. By using more towers in a certain area the more customers can be serviced. The more towers there are the smaller the cells will be and less powerfull the antennas will be. GSM-network in a nutshell A signal can travel further then they line of sight under certain conditions (depending on what frequency the wave is travelling, the weather, building, etc). Basically you are indeed making stuff up :)... As cell towers use directional antennas I'm not sure you will get reception at 13000ft....I imagine even if you have reception it will be of poor quality. The main reason cell phone are banned from planes is possible interference with systems on the plane. _______________________________________
  24. [reply, and the biggest reserve I can comfortably fit in whatever container size I end up with. (Hmm, looking at the I6, which fits both my main choices, that's only a 190 ) I have a pilot 168..very nice canopy...I actually want a 150 right now . Only you can decide want kind of canopy you want but most people want to downsize pretty soon from a wingload of 1:1 or lower. 20 jumps in 2 years doesn't make you very current though so maybe a bigger canopy is a wise choice....try the 210 and 190 before you decide (only if you can land a 210 properly of course
  25. I also narrowed the choice between the icon and wings when I shopped for my first rig..It was a very difficult choice. They are both very nice rigs. I got myself an icon and haven't regretted it...Which rig you choose....I think you'll be happy with it
