  1. I use contact lenses and haven't had any trouble... make sure your normal goggles over the contacts are secure though, as a couple of times when I was using the dodgy student goggles, my contact lenses fell out because of too much air coming in. It's never happened again since I got my own goggles, plus I always make sure there are no extra air holes near the nose! I've tried wearing glasses with over-glasses goggles but I found that horrible because my glasses were loose and would move around underneath the goggles causing me to have really crap vision with bits of glasses in front of me eyes....
  2. I think there is one Twin Otter in the whole of Australia... I have only been in cessnas, a caravan and an islander. Which I think is the extent of plane types in my entire state.
  3. Wagon wheels are pretty fun. That's about all I can think of right now I guess this is the idea you want, not the things other people are suggesting which are kind of obvious... like rel work.
  4. First 100? That makes me feel a little better hehe. What was your reason? Just looking at the ground or were there other factors?
  5. :3:? Made two great jumps good friday... 1 x wagon wheel, 1 x 2 person horny gorilla Saturday went to the easter 'boogie' (first 'boogie' ever), got on the first load... twisted my ankle on landing, and that was the end of that. Spent the rest of the day nursing my foot with an ice pack. The worst part of it all was that there was a canopy skills course on, first time I'd ever seen one, and I would have REALLY benefited from it. That and the weather was beautiful, fun jumpers and freefly coaches were plentiful...
  6. You also might want to check out the HUGE list of expensive things they are also selling for $1... all with about the same time left on bidding.
  7. I used to flat pack for all of my jumps, but I consistently got hard openings... a couple of times friends pro-packed for me and they were much softer. So I switched and now my openings rock. Only been pro-packing about 15 jumps. Also found it easier to learn and quicker.
  8. That's lucky. I suppose I jump at a smaller dropzone where you practically have to fight for slots which is probably my reason. I've been every single weekend save for a few where I couldn't too... Then there's all these 25knot winds we've been having lately...
  9. I live in OZ and jump every weekend - I swear it's been too windy every weekend for like the whole of the start of 2007 And I mean a lot of that time it's been too windy even for the tandems
  10. Wow, how did you do (or almost do) 200 jumps in one year? You must have awesome weather where you are.
  11. They're all small sizes oh well. maybe someone will get lucky
  12. Two plane landings... YAY The wind was all over the place.. went up twice in 15knot winds, then by the time I got to height it was up to 22knot which is just above my wind limit (still technically A licence as my B/C hasn't arrived in the mail yet ) Anyway I suppose the plane rides weren't too bad One was pretty scary as I almost had to land with no flaps down... ahh!
  13. There was only really two DZs to choose from. I chose the one with 0 deaths as opposed to 5.
  14. If it was me I would do my research first... want to know everything I possibly could about what can go wrong, how to fix it when it does go wrong, learn from the BASE fatalities list... wait till I had at LEAST 250+ skydives and felt confident that I could land in a confined area etc... That and watch a few people successfully do it first. Definitely take a first jump course and pick the brains of any BASE jumpers you meet.
  15. :6:2 3way,5way,6way - all funnels! One attempted sitfly... funny Did my 100th jump! Got my C licence Did an awesome 2-way with a girl I've been waiting to do one with for ages - we're around the same weight so we kicked ass. Great weekend!
  16. When you say it is not as complete, what exactly does it 'miss out' as such? Sorry I know this post is about two years old :)
  17. Someone said that to me when I had like... 8 jumps or something. I was still going through freakin' AFF so I thought that was pretty hilarious... I still find it hilarious when they say it now.. I'll probably still find it funny with 1000 jumps... I'm sure I'll still feel like a newbie then.
  18. Hmm, is it worth it to fly to Melbourne for the concert (again?!) Perth sooo isn't that far away...
  19. Hey guys, Anyone seen this new Sony camera? Wondering if it would be any good for skydiving (Don't worry I'm not planning on using one for a long time) http://www.camerahouse.com.au/products/ProductPreview.aspx?productID=1682&productName=DCRHC48%20-%20COMING%20SOON!
  20. I bought a Falcon 150 canopy with almost 500 jumps on it, and initially it seemed to fly ok - I did eight test jumps before buying it. With time and experience I've discovered that openings are almost ALWAYS very brisk (to the point I've stopped looking up after opening because it hurts) unless I roll the nose a lot... and then the openings still suck but are at least not as painful. My landings aren't great on it either, I've been told this is due to the canopy not me... the flare in it sucks.
  21. If there's ever a time where she's not wearing much or any, you could say "Hey, you look nice/pretty/whatever today" and maybe they'll take the hint
