  1. Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You really do have a knack for promoting open honest dialogue. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So, I guess if someone robs a bank because their kid broke his leg skateboarding, and he doesn't have money to send the kid to the hospital, then he should get a pass? After all, he's probably not robbing just one account, he's taking a little bit from everyone, and they probably won't miss it. After all, if they've got enough money to put in a bank, they should have enough to share with those who don't have any.
  2. If someone intentionally destroys their life through the consumtion of any number of drugs, or obesity, why should they recieve top dollar in health care when they obviously care less about their own health?
  3. How can that be with programs like Planned Parenthood?
  4. Do you want the govt. putting a gun to your head and demanding that you pay for it?
  5. Take a look at the DMV. They are only issuing a 2x3 laminated card.
  6. You could always take it apart just to see what makes it tick.
  7. Can there be a more boring sport to watch? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As compared to a 20 minute ride to altitude for one minute of play time?
  8. Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here's a thought. Purchase for yourself a cigarette boat, make the 90 mile run from Fl., sell it to the highest bidder, and stay there and enjoy yourself. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I think you missed the point. Once you got there with your bag full of money, you would immediately be under the thumb of Castro and his regime. As I pointed out, we seem to be to only govt. with an embargo. Why isn't Cuba a prosperous nation? They have plenty to offer the rest of the world, tourist wise. Could the problem be internal?

  10. Quote -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney said Friday that he will not participate in a debate on Sept. 17 co-sponsored by CNN and YouTube, calling the debate not "respectful" enough to be part of the process of selecting a presidential nominee. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://blog.washingtonpost.com/...ipyoutube_forum.html Don't you think that a presidential candidate having a serious conversation with Frosty the Snowman about global warming is just a little over the top?
  11. So we did find and destroy WMDs within the Axis of Evil? Good call, GWB.
  12. Be careful, there. You just might be next.
  13. Castro isn't long for this world, so why should we give him the satisfaction of thinking that he has won his little war with a super power? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- But, everywhere we go, things turn to shit.I can hear it now. We are nothing but a country who's only interest is nation building. Cuba currently can have open relations with any number of nations. They can get oil from Venezuela, farming implements for Canada, and I'm sure that Cuba is an agriculturely rich land, if it were allowed to flourish. The fact is, that Castro considers capitalism to be evil and must oppress the people to keep it from running its natural course. It's got nothing to do with the people. As far as I can tell, the Cubans in Florida seem to be an industrious, self sustaining group of people. What a great place for a winter DZ.
  14. Aren't we the only country that has an embargo against Cuba? I believe the final point to be made after the death of Castro is that communism is a dead philosophy and produces nothing but poverty and indifference. Unless Castro had a sudden change of heart or the people rose up and said that they weren't going to take it anymore, all efforts to capitalize that nation will be quashed, simply because it would prove Castro to be wrong, all along.
  15. With the seemingly indifference towards weapons or a need for self defense, I have got to wonder what the children did for fantasy play back in the day. We had cowboys and indians, cops and robbers, pirates, and even occasionally, Redcoats and colonials, all of them involving weapons of some sort. Does the usual child play involve going to the corner pub and getting pissed at the end of the day?
  16. I believe that it's a two way street. Since Castro took over, Cuba has been all Castro all of the time. Castro will not allow Cuba to reach its economic and cultural peak. He has an ideology and has enforced it with a heavy hand. Castro isn't long for this world, so why should we give him the satisfaction of thinking that he has won his little war with a super power? I'm sure there will be an uprising once he's dead, but we will still have to deal with several generations of people who have been brainwashed. There are also thousands of Cubans in this country who understand democracy and capitalism and will turn that island into the tourist paridise that it should be.
  17. I think that we are starting to see a pattern here. Women just don't have the proper voice inflexion to say,"Sit down and shut up." and mean it. Womens' lib coming home to roost.
  18. I was wondering about the poll results. Do these people in England not have a need for kitchen knives. I have any number of items that could be used as a weapon. Everything from a dog leash with a heavy snap to a machete.

Maybe it's just me, but I find that maintaining the same heartrate on a bike as running, tends to build up the lactic acid in the legs much faster.
  20. We should have taken him out the first time that we went in, but we didn't. He could still be sitting up in one of his palaces today if he hadn't been such a megalomaniac. His ego wouldn't allow him to submit to wide open inspections, so he paid the price.
  21. Saddam was already on probation and refused to obey his probation officer. Unlike Lindsey Lohan, his ankle bracelet wasn't voluntary.
  22. I thought that people in the NW were on the cutting edge of open mindedness.

I haven't been on a bike in about eight months due to an accident during a sprint. Partial separation of the left shoulder. What an annoying injury. Anyway, when I'm in shape, I can maintain 16 mph on varied terrain for about 3hr. That's turning about 100 rpm. I'll be 53 in Sept..
  24. Al Gore is supposed to be in the know about these things, which means that his family and staff should also have a clue. I've been hearing about the Chilean Sea Bass for years and how it's an endangered species. Someone should have put a bug in his darling daughter's ear. If they are so interested in proving that they are the world's foremost greenies, they could have eaten Tilapia or Grass Carp or something on that order. They might have even done the people in Florida a favor and eaten some of those flying Sturgeon that are overrunning the Suwannee River. The fact is that they consider themselves to be above the 'every man' rules. BTW, the rules that Al Gore would choose to set up and enforce, would adversly affect every household in this country, whereas, someone cheating on his wife and calling another man a slimeball for doing the same thing doesn't do a lot of real damage.

I was watching an article on taxidermy last Sunday and came up with this. Girl:"So, what do you do for a living?" Guy:"Oh, I'm a taxidermist. You look like a real trophy, and I'd like to mount you."
