having been a part of BASE in a day (I started it but spanked in on the B and ended up GC for the rest of it) I give my respect to you.... its a hard trawl around to get it......... Well done matey.......... Its a very cool thing to do... its one of those things not many people will ever do....

even with out seeing the face all I would say is "plastic ear"........

This sort of post reiterates that The fast food generation is wanting BASE more and more All the info you need in one post and then pay your money, get a FJC and become a BASE jumper.... its that easy...........
-
Sorry this read incorrectly, I meant it help increase the problem. Cant really give numbers / units - its just something I judge Nope, I dont go stowed at low delays / Heights, and most of my jumps are low delays / heights

There was an interesting post on BLiNC some years ago from DW who referenced the "tea bag analogy" about Crosswinds. I have been unable to find it, and hoped that someone has it in their "BASE DataBASE"........ Anyone? Anyone? bueller? bueller?
-
sorry but your old fox seemed to glide well over the landing area, over the fence and into a tree that stopped you hitting a brick wall at a nice little house somewhere too................ Why do you want more glide? I think you need more sink!

Think about it Sam; cross-wind from right to left (rather than left to right ). short delay - bridle is being blown over your arm... hence my question. I have jumped an Electric Pylon quite a bit in cross winds (out of 25+ jumps I would say about 70% of them have been X winds) with exit at 220ft. I have done this in quite high cross winds both from left and from the right, As you can tell from the exit height my delay is not getting much over 1 sec (nowadays) and my freefall speed is not normally higher than the X wind speed. What I have found is that in a pure X wind at low delays my heading openings are "more often than not" on heading even up to quite strong wind speeds, whereas with a slightly longer delay in strong winds my off headings seem to increase. This seems to happen with jumps in the 300+ft range with 2+ sec delays, that I will put the money on that I open toward the wind on those - I put this down on slight turning toward the wind in freefall as 621 mentions so the X wind no longer becomes a pure X wind. (This assumes pure wind and not wind effected from objects in the path of the X wind) The general rule of thumb I have always lived to is make sure your freefall speed is faster than the actual wind speed...........as anything else will just be a lottery anyway........... Oh, going stowed at sub-terminal will both help your possible bridle entangle problem and increase your off-headings in a sub-terminal deployment environment......... in my opinion anyway

Ditto what a fucking waste of time!

Sorry, I thought it was in my profile I have been skydiving for 6+ years and BASE jumping for 4+ years

............and as long as you are ok then thats ok.......

Most of us actually have care for fellow human beings...... you have 46 BASE jumps from your profile? Remind me that should I ever meet you and have chance to make a BASE jump I should walk away from you..... I think your attitude to fellow parachutists and future jumpers sucks........ I am not trying to be arrogant, or up myself, but your attitude to "and again so what if it makes them want to do it.. when they have the jump numbers who cares who's want to do it." shows your true colours. I would never ever advise someone to BASE jump and would try and put them off............ if you BASE jump and say "who cares" then you should not base jump........... EDIT TO ADD: You think I am a skydiver dont you?

and I will repeat what I said there: BASE jumping has no place at major skydive events.......... it will have a long term effect...
-
I must be on acid or fucked on crack here, as I actually agree with the original poster here............... There is no fucking place for BASE gear at a major skydive event - full stop! - that to me is trying to show off and boast to people The fact that one person approached someone who they did not know and did not know if a) they were an experienced BASE jumper or b) a twat with BASE gear then I think should be applauded........... If I was at a skydiving event and someone got onto a balloon wearing a BASE rig as I was wearing a dual parachute system I would question them, and If i was unhappy I would get them thrown off........... Now this is the problem, should someone without BASE experience apart from BD jump be able to do that? or should the experienced skydiver be able to look after his sport as we look after ours? I mean, the "BASE Jumper" could be a twat after all and still hurt the skydivers sport..............
-
Some people should not be at a skydiving convention trying to show off they BASE jump...........
-
in a skydiving environment where dual parachute systems are a must, why would you try and jump a simple single parachute system?unless your pulling low and are allowed....... Although I think a single parachute system is safer, and actually feel safer than having a dual parachute system on my back I would never attempt to jump a single parachute system at a skydiving event........ Its not about education, its not about sucking up, its about keeping a low profile and just acting within the environment you are in. So what 2 dual parachute system users try a Mr Bill or stacks on VX 69s........ who gives a toss Unless you are deploying low altitidue and/or near a solid object, there is no reason to wear BASE gear from a balloon at a skydive event......
-
I am sure if my apple understood your badly constructed sentence it would respond.. otherwise, No I dont think you care, but tell me how many people will be with you to carry you out with a fucked leg.... then you will care You made your own PC hesitation, so inflate it...........
-
What amazes me is that you continue to refer to making mistakes as being caught........... Try bodily damage as a result of making a mistake..... do you understand the seriousness of making a proper mistake in BASE???? and then still trying to not get caught??
-
Rather than list those points of yours, please reread ALL your posts on the UK board and this board and tell me you are not slightly regretful of your approach to people on the "PUBLIC" forums........... Do you still 100% stand by your stance and approach in these posts to your fellow jumpers since your recent incident of complete stupidity, sorry error? I would be interested to see if you are........... Edit to add: seems the CCTV footage of your failed rescue to the top of the tree to rescue your gear has been released http://www.nothingtoxic.com/uploads/monkeycatapult.wmv
