  1. A "machine" to prevent such crimes seems to work quite well in Europe. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  2. And so will be everyone on the plane once it explodes. The difference here is that the terrorist _prepared_ to be dead, unlike the most passengers. So the plane would crash too, as the pilots would be dead as well. And what difference this .38 would make? * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  3. No, we do not. However we can restrict gun ownership to only those who are members of 'militia' (like local police) - this can be done via another SCOTUS decision. The fact 2nd Amendment is there does not mean it will be there forever and ever - after all, this is already an amendment. Another amendment may change its terms, or just repeal the existing amendment (and this happened in past, so it is not unrealistic to expect that). I'd speculate that all your guns won't help you even against a single skilled assassin who is determined to kill you. Even Presidents have been killed, and they had much more than just people with guns around them. That's the difference between "drug ban" in USA and "drug ban" in Singapore. The latter works, the first doesn't. The difference is in enforcement and punishment. For example, enforced mandatory life sentence for bringing a gun in such area would definitely hold most of the robbers, as the penalty for the robbery itself is much less. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  4. That's what happens if you make things up, and start asking me questions which assume I said those things. I see no reason to answer questions like "have you stopped sucking a dick? please answer yes or no". That's exactly what I'm talking about. Show me where I said that they would get pulled over? Indeed it sounds like a typical pro-gun person. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  5. It shouldn't had started. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  6. The problem here is yet another ex-law abiding gun owner going crazy. That is exactly that kind of situation a gun ownership restriction can easily prevent. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  7. Are you saying that legal carry holders can't practice their right outside the Capitol building in TX??? * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  8. There is always an out there. Somali government would never tell you where you can live or where you can travel and so on. Sounds like a perfect choice for those who cannot stand government involvement in their lives! * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  9. http://www.star-telegram.com/legislature/story/1913068.html Yet another ex-law-abiding gun owner turning crazy. This, of course, would never happen if carrying guns was legal in Texas! * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  10. It does not matter. As I showed you before, just banning preexisting conditions will not work, and working around those issues will quickly bring this whole train back. Or they may choose to do nothing, which will make things worse as well once Cobra subsidies stop. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  11. And once you start over, you'll end up pretty much with House version. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  12. You obviously ran out of arguments as you started attacking the poster instead of the post. That's really scary that so many of you pro-gun guys are only capable to have a civilized discussion during such short time. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  13. It would be much better to throw away the Senate version, and vote for House version. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  14. No, this is another issue (which I do not like either). * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  15. Because you "wonder how many of those would have turned out differently had the victim been carrying a firearm for self defense". I pointed out the most obvious example when this didn't help. Same if one is shot from behind. I would prefer not to be there when the bad stuff happened. "Skilled intelligence agents use their combat training to get out of shitty situation alive, while wise intelligence agents use their brain to not get into such situations where they would have to show their skills" was the favorite quote of my Sgt. Unless you lost or let to be stolen any of your guns (therefore supplying criminals with them), it does not. A lot of people, however, is not like you - some of them shot others to solve an argument on parking lots, or because they got fired and have no other perspectives in their lives. Unfortunately the way the life works is that we need to use a single common denominator for everyone - that's why all of us need to submit a lot of documentation with their tax returns even though only few people cheat on taxes. However since this is impossible to force only those who would cheat on taxes to do that, the restriction is placed on everyone. Same with guns. I do not believe in God, so the crying part is very unlikely. Regarding the rest, I believe that such probability would be greatly reduced if we significantly restrict gun ownership, and making it impossible for law abiding people who just went crazy for a moment, to do significant damage. It would also make it much harder for criminals to obtain a gun, so for someone who is not a gun owner this indeed has a lot of benefits. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  16. But I do not have an option of NOT to pay SS and not to get benefits. Even if I don't need them, I still must pay this "tax". This is the same as with healthcare bill - you still pay for it even if you might not need it. I agree with you that the latest pork for unions sucks, and should not be part of this legislation, but this is a different issue. My reply was mostly related to claims like that, to point out that this situation existed quite a while. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  17. A perfect Libertarian society would not have the government, as the role of the government is basically to regulate things, which restricts personal freedom. So having no or very weak government basically indicates this is a Libertarian society based on personal choices and responsibilities. This is incorrect. Religion is a personal choice and personal responsibility, so a Libertarian can be Christian, Muslim, Atheist, Satanist or whoever he wants. If a large group of Libertarians want to be Muslim, this is their right as well. Assuming otherwise would mean that you're for restricting their personal freedoms, which is non-Libertarian. So far it looks like a close-to-perfect Libertarian society. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  18. This was to prove my points that: - The government has been already charging people for some services, even those people who would not need the service or prefer not to use it; - Some unions are already exempt from those requirements. So this is not something non-Constitutional introduced by healthcare bill as Social Security system has been there for a while. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  19. That's the way the government does it. Why cutting spendings if they can "balance the sheet" by printing more money, or (in case of California) by using some accounting gimmicks? The sheet looks fine in both cases. So what? This is definitely my situation as well (just to add that I never paid interest on a credit card balance in my life, and the only reason I got loans for both cars was because the dealership gave me a discount for that. I paid both loans in full next month though). Isn't it what a lot of people have? * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  20. Including or excluding taxes? I wonder why dropping directv is something which is only considered when it's really tight? But I don't have any TV at all (I'd rather read a book, and having no TV forces my kids to find other ways to entertain themselves), so maybe it's just me. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  21. Could you tell me which definition of "Libertarian state" doesn't it match? * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  22. That's exactly what I'm talking about - union members have an option not to contribute to Social Security (and not to benefit from it), but those I mentioned in the post above (like very rich people) do not have such option, even though they're not going to benefit from Social Security as well. So it is already the case. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  23. But that's a perfect libertarian world where the government has pretty much zero control over your life! You probably won't even get penalized for not paying taxes there, and of course nobody restricts your guns. Following the pro-gun logic such place should be extremely polite and self-policing with almost zero crime, right? * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  24. And JFK would be still alive if only his guards had guns, right? Oh wait... * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
  25. Do you think a terrorist who has a belt with explosives on him would be scared of your guns? Do you think those who flew the planes into WTC would scared and land the plane back in JFK if the full plane was armed? This is not even funny. * Don't pray for me if you wanna help - just send me a check. *
