  1. So, now that you see this thing, you are going to wait til June and pay $500 for it. Along with the other accounts you will have to open just to use it? I thought you were looking for an mp3 player.
  2. I don't get the title of this thread. Why the comparison to the Creative Zen?? I mean how can you compare a $200 media player to a $500 phone/media player/internet device? They are apples and oranges. It's like saying that my laptop is way better than an ipod. Not to mention that the "iphone" is not even a reality yet. I mean, can I get one? No. So, all this is right now is Apple introducing a device that may be released this summer. And when/if it is, then we can have one for a $500 bill. And that is only if you want to be strictly limited to Apple, Mac, itunes, and Cingular. Yeah, the thing looks cool. But aren't we jumping the gun here a little saying it is the best thing out??
  3. And THIS is exactly the response I would expect. Classic!
  4. This is one seriously pointless thread! The original poster jumped to a Stiletto at 100 jumps, only spent 100 jumps on that before downsizing, and now is going to a much heavier loaded Xfire at 300 jumps. There is no point in wasting your breath with advice here. In another 100 jumps or os, they should be ready for a Velo anyway, and we can just wait to discuss what went wrong in another forum.
  5. Only takes one. Unfortunately, it has happened more than once.
  6. Yeah, just like the MANY tandems who are taken who should not be allowed because of size/shape/weight. But hey, at least the lady in the cave didn't die from their mistake.
  7. I like to start about tree top level and double front to telephone pole. Of course, I bail out on rears alot too, so take that with a grain of salt.
  8. Of course it is total BS. There was no casual conversation where it "came up" either. He just wants to hear girls on here talk about it so he can jerk of to it.
  9. I am certainly not gonna argue with someone who has over 4800 posts. You are REALLY cool. I can't compete with that.
  10. And I am sure they thank YOU for YOUR concern. Oh look! I can speak sarcasm too!
  11. Nope, it looks like they are just using the "Look at her bad fake boob job" ones.
  12. There is always at least ONE insecure woman. Hmmm.. let's see how many ways we can come up with to be negative and put these girls down.
  13. Yeah right, and if it was a girl who was passed out and they did that to, I am sure it would just be a funny joke right? I can just see it.... next time we have a party and a local girl is there and she passes out drunk, we will take pictures of us putting our dicks in her face and post them on the internet. Stupid fucking girl deserves it cuz she passed out, right? I mean, that will show them how stupid they are and how cool we skydivers are! Bunch of fucking idiots!
  14. At least learn to spell Fort Stewart correctly.
  15. Unless you rushed the cutaway and threw the handle and are spinning under a partially released main. Oh, just fuckin forget it! There is obviously nothing to learn here.
  16. I don't know... I'm still trying to figure out what I did "wrong". By the way, how many cutaways do you have? Just curious. My point was, as I stated to you earlier, that it is NOT criticism of what you did wrong. Contrary to what people are making it seem. I never said you did anything wrong. That is what others are SAYING I said. It is not criticism at all. It is simply wanting to know exactly what you did and why you did it, and then offering other insight into things so you, myself and others can think about what we might do if in that position again. I have 4 sport cutaways. 3 of this type. And I have 3 tandem cutaways.
  17. No one is complaining about what she did. She was nice enough to post a video from her cutaway and I think people can actually use a video like this to analyze and learn from. You can drill yourself over and over about emergency procedures, but it is rare that you get to see them in action, in a real world scenario. The points were brought up so that maybe we could suggest another point of view and other insights to this specific malfunction, in order to get people thinking about what they might want to do if they are ever presented with it. God forbid you might watch the video, hear the points being made, and think about what you would do if in this situation. I really don't think it is wise to pass over this video and the posts being made here and just shrug it off as interrogation or criticism of what she did wrong. There are good points being brought up here from everyone, so you might want to take the time to think it all over.
  18. You can't really write these things as SOPs or Guidelines, because they are something that each jumper needs to decide for themselves. There are basic guidelines written for students and from there we all need to adjust what works for us. Keeping it simple for beginner's sake is vital. But as we gain experience and share experiences, you can pick up new ideas and techniques that work better for you.
  19. Yes, the same thing doesn't work for everyone and I appreciate you sharing the insight. I was merely trying to do the same. Guess if we would have both done that a bit better, we could have avoided the other crap. Sorry 'bout that.
  20. PLease link to and/or show me the literature you speak of please. Dude, seriously. Can you link me to the training literature on swooping next to buldings and such? No, you can't. It is simply things we learn and do as more experienced skydivers. Most students are taught to use the two-handed technique for cutaways and alot of jumpers switch to the hand on each handle technique later on. We constantly have to adapt what we learn to what our skills are and what each situation is.
  21. Well, the problem with the two-handed technigue in a spinning malfunction is that the forces of the spin can get really nasty in a hurry and you may not see that coming. When you realize you are on you back, spinning under line twists on a small HP canopy, it can be a good idea to get ahold of both handles before it gets too difficult. There have been a number of instances where people have been spinning so bad that it was almost impossible to locate and get too their reserve handle after cutting away. The tendency can also be such to rush the cutaway pull in order to get to the reserve, which can be bad if you "pull, throw" and didn't get the canopy released fully. You did a great job, and there is no one techinique that suits everyone. Just simple some things to think about that you might not have before, and now that you are jumping a smaller HP canopy.
  22. Oh this is brilliant! Now I have funks, of all people, calling me out! When you watch the video you can see that one riser clearly releases before the other. It is extremely possible that if you happened to only pull the cutaway far enough to release one and not the other, and dropped the handle, you would be in a very bad situation, especially in this type of malfunction. You may not be able to get ahold of that handle again to finish the release if spinning very badly. By holding onto the handle, you can make sure it is released fully and pull it further if needed. If you drop it, there are a few reasons you may want it back. The same can be said of the reserve handle. It is best not to drop the reserve handle because you can then make sure you have it at full arms length and completely pulled and clearly see this. The cutaway system is pretty good, but it might not work exactly like you thought in these types of situations, so it is a good idea to get in the habit of pulling the cutaway all the way to arms length, checking that you are fully released from your main, then pulling the reserve handle, doing the same thing. Shit happens fast, as anyone who has been in this situation knows, and having your handles in your hands and seeing that clearly, can be very important it something doesn't release like you thought it was going to. I really WAS trying to help and just wanted to be clear on what happened on the video. I apologize that I came across as being otherwise.
