  1. I've never had an overall problem with the Post Office. Although they occasional have a problem with an occasional instance of missing or lost mail from the Post Office, I don't believe that overall there is a serious problem (besides the price of stamps). By the way, I like how you bolded certain items in your post in an attempt to upset me. Honestly the post is laughable. In the past your arguements had more substance, it seems like over the past year or two they're really starting to slip. That's too bad, since the discusions and arguements were a lot more fun back then. Yes, this issue is all about you. Why not address the substance of the issue rather than the person, even if it's you. Come on, smoke a few innocent people in the name of the falacy we call deterrence...no biggie, right?
  2. That holds true since Illinois law is exactly the same as Texas law, right? Death penalty cases are automatically appealed to the US Sup Ct, so that standard is applied, not a state standard.
  3. Your life. My wife and I discussed this last night. A local attorney whom we know well was shot in the neck about a month ago. Last week, a client of his disappeared. he was interviewed on Fox News last night, and seeing Kim on television was not eye-opening, but more confirming. It's not worth dying for. I'm not advocating shooting anyone, but lawyers and their buddies wearing robes can sometimes ruin people's lives to the point that life is not worth living, or so they think. And the appellate courts do nothing but affirm their buddies at the trial courts.... Hate the game (US gov and rules of court) not the players (lawyers, etc...). But it is sometimes hard to distinguish from the players and the game....
  4. As a percentage of GNP the USA gives less than most industrialized nations. We are actually not THAT generous. Zipp0 Hopefully we can reduce our foreign aid even more so we can start paying down the debt. Perhaps raise taxes on the rich so we can pay down the debt. Clinton did it and it worked. Bush cut taxes and it went up faster than it ever has, along with corporate profits. So blame welfare and foreign aid, but CLinton dedicated much to these causes and still leveled off the debt, left with an annual surplus...... raised taxes on the rich..... figure it out.
  5. What's here? More Orwellian evidence. The US Sup Ct just passed a 5-4 decision that warranted searches have no requirement for, "knock and announce." The fear is that the alleged perps will trash any evidence. The purpose of the knock is for everyone's safety. If a person inside is cleaning a gun or in a precarious situation, they can remedy that and answer the door. About 5 years ago the high court decided 20 secinds was a fair amount of time, now they say they can sneak up and kick your door in w/o notice. Next will be loosening the warrant requirement and we will have achieved 1984. Who knows, maybe warrant requiremens for homes will mirror that of cars; virtually nothing. I wonder how teh US stacks up against other countries? What do you think, fair trade? Loss of safety/privacy for preservation of evidence? BTW, it went this way due to teh lovely gentlemen appointed by Bush.
  6. Safer than a virgin girl in a gaybar perhaps.
  7. Deterrence comes from good intel. That's not provided by the Military. The Military simply reacts to a situation. Being in Iraq is is much more of a deterrence. I'm not too worried about Mexico or China invading, are you? You do realize it is illegal to use the Military as a police force in the US, dont you? I can't understand why the insurgents don't get out of the ME and go to where they love to terrorize. I think the US has more of a chance scattering the insurgents there than if they were here guarding our borders. Deterrence as a theory is a joke. As well as in application. Go to get Noriega was illegal too, perhaps the seizing of Saddam was as well, but who is going to police us?
  8. Looks like the projected Bush bounce is becoming reality -- much denial and hand-wringing to follow. What is he up to, 30%? By who's polls? Like the stock market, he's yet to sustain anything except huge deficits/debts. And now the gas prices, his fault or not, he gets the much deserved credit. Besides, it's the Congressional race that matters at this point and most think the Repubs suck in Congress.
  9. And those who are guilty are always charged - those who are innocent are never charged. Please don't act as if there was no sleaze here. Look as far as Symington's pardoning or as far back as Nixon's pardoning for examples. This sleaze-pig is guilty of releasing Plume's name for backing for the Iraq war, just that he is connected.... not that difficult. I wonder if you were one the guys thinking OJ and Blake were innocent becuase they were acquitted?
  10. Some corporation is donating millions to the Bush, now the McCain campaign fund so we have lots of promise for current/future war.......
  11. And it can be non-living for billions of years...... or up to 10k years if you thump bibles..... That's whack; how can a virus be non-living for that long and decide to inject its DNA into a host's nucleus for replication. Fuckin evil they are. At least bacteria must be alive to repro and they do via binary fision and don't require a host but for food or a cozy environment.
  12. There's so much they couldn't have known. It wasn't even 1800 for god's sake, so how could they know that slavery was a bad thing. We figured it out on teh 1860's, 13th Amendment, but the Bill of Rights was a rough start and there's no way we can hold them accountable for such a roughly written document. Also, the word "privacy" wasn;t there either...... rough document. Furthermore, women coldn't vote for almost 150 years after the writing of the BoR, so how fcuked a document is that? The doument reflected those times, but they couldn;t be held to forsee what we have today or the tomorrows to come. Check the living constitution. Youc an find it in all appellate decisions. Liek it or not, that is the constitution.
  13. And Lucky - we have more rights than those listed in the Constitution. The 2nd Amendment doesn't give us the right to own guns, it merely affirms it. As a leftie you should know this. OK, so where in the D of I does it give us inalienable, irrevokable rights of gun ownership? Spell it out, it's your assertion. As to your pathetic attempt As to your pathetic attempt at transcribing the 2nd, posting the same BS 4 or 5 times won't make your misdefinitions of key words any more accurate.*** Don't talk about it, define it as Nealtx did, which I will finish and post later on tonight. Misdefinitions; post how.
  14. Yeah the same way they defended those poor downtrodden pedophiles that belonged to NAMBLA As much as that sucks, let's compare it to capital punishment. We have to defend the scum in order to defend the innocent. Ernesto Miranda was a rapist, but we needed to exclude certain statements in his case to ensure other innocent people would be protected from coercive police tactics. Then Dickerson V US came along in 2000 where it tested Miranda..... he was a bank robber and they had to exclude certain evidence in order to keep alive Miranda and the concept of rights preservation.
  15. Well, conservatoves do but it's located next their wallet.
  16. I wouldn't get too worked up about it. After all, they're only America hating liberals. touche Touche? That makes no sense since he was replying to you. Touche would work, in principal not application, if he were replying to me. http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=touche
  17. I wouldn't get too worked up about it. After all, they're only America hating liberals. Special. So if you dissent, you hate America.... pure genius. So those involved in the civil war were America-haters? Those involved with 50's-60's civil rights were America-haters? Those involved with women's rights in the 1920's (woman suffrage) were America-haters? Pure brilliance; dissent = America=haters.
  18. These kind of people see an Asian and think: Chinaman. They see a turban and think: Arab Terrorist. Wow, you are a mind reader! Got any idea what I am thinking now Gotta group up those that disagree. Typical tactic..... It wasn't about mind reading, it was about racial stereotyping.
  19. That was the only lie that was given to us by the pres at that time. Are you agreeing that there was another agenda and the pres diguised that truth with the lie of WMD's?
  20. Two years ago, I thought there might be some real victory at the end of the rainbow in Iraq, but I've since lost confidence in the entire government's ability to do that or anything else right. And in the coming sets of elections, we'll just elect more of the same. So do you agree that keep AQ busy with killing GI's at the cost of 1 billion per week is a bad thing?
  21. What an incredibly moronic statement to make. And now it's out there, for all the world to see. The lefties on this board believe the Phelps' despicable actions are protected Free Speech, and I disagree. Thanks for your lovely contribution. Go back and READ what the lefties on this forum have WRITTEN on the topic, then re-read my short commentary on it (the one you RUDELY replaced with "blah blah blah"). After all that, you'll definitely be prepared to take another stab at who's making "incredibly moronic statements" here. I think he was labeling your sentiment as moronic. Then you turn around and umbrella all lefties...... hmmm, I bet he thanks you for your affirmation.
  22. A good example of that is the 18th and then the 21st. Established prohibition and then repealed it. Moralists should be disallowed the keys to the US Constitution.
  23. The ACLU doesn't have to defend the 2nd Amendment. I appreciate their effors on the remainder of our rights. But I won't support them with money because of their hypocrisy on the 2nd. It is impossible to reconcile their notions that "people" (you and me) have rights in all the other sections of the Bill of Rights, but do not in the second one listed. Somehow those "people" became government bodies, even though the BoR was clearly written for the "People" (you and I again) It's quite apparent that they've made this distinction between "people" for personal political beliefs, not one of consistency. And Lucky - we have more rights than those listed in the Constitution. The 2nd Amendment doesn't give us the right to own guns, it merely affirms it. As a leftie you should know this. ___________________________________________________________ A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. well regulated Well regulated....hmmm, I'm thinking not even having registration in some states goes against well regulation. So the states that don't have rigorous regulation are in conflict with the US Constitution. Give me your definition of, "well regulation." Militia Last I checked, private militias were essentially illegal. They tend to bust apart militias as I see it. The government hasn't utilized militias since when, the 1800's? Since there are no government sponsored militias and private militias are disbanded and often sent to prison, it seems that this is the deal breaker in that the very premise of the 2nd is to establish and govern militias. being necessary to the security of a free State So you having a gun inder your pillow or a hunting rifle gains the security of a free state how? Militias were used to defend against foreign invaders, as it was written in spirit and context, and there is nothing required to maintain a militia since the advent of a standing army. Now, I'm probably more pro-gun that you or most so-called ultra-conservatives on this board, but the reason we have 2nd rights is due to the fact that teh gov and US Sup Ct hasn't yet decided to take them. We have n0 inerent rights of private gun ownership, but I know it keeps you going to think that your gun rights are inherently protected, so keep the faith alive! ___________________________________________________________ OK, where are these rights written, enumerated or otherwise given? No, the 2nd establishes how militias will be governed. So you act as if private gun ownership is a birth right? Please establish so. The 2nd affirms private gun ownership? Wish it did; it doesn't. Meaning that lefties are statistically more educated? I agree.
  24. And even then they don't lose them all. They still have 5th, 6th and 8th, even on death row.
  25. Here's where your logic is again flawed... who would ever think that the opposite of the ACLU is Falwell and Limbaugh. I'd think the opposite would be level-headed lawyers with no agenda.... either that, or people who aren't insane with their own egos to the point they think they have a duty to always end up on the wrong side of a fight. This exemplifies what you are as well as who you are. Falwell = moral opposition to issues such as gay rights, premarital sex, any all other moral-based issues Limbaugh = fiscal opposition to social welfare spending an other fiscal expenditures for common people and not for corporations and the rich. ACLU = protections for poor people against governmental bullying, arguments against moral issues that deprive or imprison people. I could look at the web sites for all 3 and find drastic contradictions between the former 2 and the ACLU. The agendas contradict, I think it's obvious.
