  1. I'm with quade on this one, what benefit does the electoral college have. It just plain sucks no matter what your political views are. Tell me any good reason that a president with the popular vote should not get into office because of a technicality. I'm not attacking you, I'm just curious as to why anybody would defend the current system. So lets say you move to Texas, and you plan on voting for Obama. Why waste your time going to the polls? I can't understand why somebody wouldn't want their vote to count nationally if they lived in a state where the majority of people didn't agree with them. I'm sorry, I'm very passionate about protecting the second ammendment as are some that would like to destroy it, but are there really that many people out there that think the electoral college should be preserved? I *really* wish people would get off this whine - do you somehow think your vote doesn't count, just because your guy doesn't win the election? Your vote won't count if your guy won the populous vote and lost the EC vote.
  2. Depends how bad you want Bin Laden... Yea, we'll say, "Hey, look, it's Saddam Hussain - over there." And when they look away we'll drop a GPS transmitter into their turbine. Then we can track them to the OBL cave
  3. Maybe you're not a Republican after all
  4. This is just a farce church. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Landover_Baptist_Church http://www.landoverbaptist.org/beliefs.html Read thru there, it's nuts!!! At first I thought it was real, but it reared it's funny head right away. The sponsors gave it away immediately. I guess it's pretty prolific.
  5. I try not to use words like, "never" or, "always" or other absolutes. I may use them, but I try not to as they don't taste good. Ever look up the appointment of Earl Warren by Eisenhower? Yea, he kinda flipped on him and got all liberal.
  6. might help you to look up the applicable definitions of militia and regulated. Have an argument, make one, I'm eagerly waiting.
  7. Sure, never know, they might be willing to work a deal; we quit killing them and they quit killing us. However I think Israel might be in the package too. Fuck it, we should tell em they can go after Israel and we'll stay out, result would be that Israel would kill em all.
  8. I have one in my lab. I bought one at a garage sale for 10 bucks. I seem to have lost it. It's not a weapon and is totally legal.
  9. OK, How about a Bazooka or just some basic land mines, Not mass destruction, so they should be allowed? Max of .50 cal, other than muzzle loaders.
  10. Who decisdes what is reasonable if I want to make an A bomb "for my protection"? The ATF, give em a call and ask about it - let us know how it turns out
  11. An hopefully after a few more justices get appointed, they can correct the decision of the Roe V Wade case. From the fabric of the original Constitution and its first 10 Amendments, I think it's apparent that the Framers recognized that there would be issues addressed in the future that either did not present themselves at the time of the drafting, or that were not considered, or even conceived of, by the Framers (those who drafted the original Constitution) at the time of the drafting. That's why the Framers made provisions for amendment, while at the same time making such amendment cumbersome. They also made clear that the Constitution was not the sole law of the land; there would be a Congress to enact specific laws; and a Supreme Court to interpret, in the full passage of time, both the Constitution itself and Congress's laws. I'm aware of no authority that supports a historical proposition that the Framers considered the issue of abortion, one way or the other, at the time the Constitution was debated, drafted or ratified. Then with that we would lose many other choices. Likely Obama will get elected and with a dem-run senate, 3 justices are looking to retire, so the odds are that the SCOTUS will go further left than the 7-2 R is it now.
  12. It's vague and antiquated. The 2nd, as it is written, applies to militias and allows for, "well regulated" actions. The 4th calls for protections against unreasonable search and siezure. We could find 50 different definitions of that in this forum alone. The 5th and 6th are constantly being revised and the 8th uses different methods constantly for capital punishment and incarceration conditions. The 14th, the hinge to all of it, it constantly being revisted for equal application of all the other others. The constitution is merely an obstacle anymore inmost cases, one that the gov shoves aside when they need to.
  13. >>>>>>>>>>>>I'm all for Hand Guns and Hunting Rifles, but don't see why anyone should be allowed to own an assault rifle (or a Bazooka or a "Personal Nuke"). Yes, I'm for teh non-assault variety of rifles, like the friendly 308 or perhaps the gregarious 30.06. If you knew firearms you would understand that most assault weapons are smaller caliber than the most radical, longest reaching rifles not considered assault weapons. Weatherby rifles are fucking insane, they make a .44 mag look like a water pistol. And a .223 or even 762x39 isn't anywhere near that of a 308 or larger. These so-called assault rifles are that because of mag capacity and styling/color, nothing else and unless we're talking M-60, a full auto 308, most other assault rifles end at 762x39, a clumsy NATO round associated with the AK-47. Many so-called assault weapons are 9mm, .223, maybe .45, etc.... middle of the road calibers. A lot of hype with less bitethan advertised.
  14. >>>>>>>>>>>>>If there is anything fundamental I'd like to see changed it would be our process of elections. See; http://en.wikipedia.org/...es_Electoral_College No shit, even Russia has a better system than we do, a simple majority. The part that sucks the most is that state electors don't have to go the way that their citizens vote, whcih could actually overturn an election. A representative Democracy is worse than a Parlaimentary Monarchy. I would like to say that there would be an uprising if a state's electors opposed the majority of that state's voters and issued the electoral votes the other way, but as we have seen, teh American people are too weak to do a thing, just brush it off and wait for next time.
  15. Please cite the powerplant/repository/facility, I'm here to learn; I'll even do the research of the suits.
  16. This isn't an assumption. The term expeditious does not apply to building any type of power plant. Finally I am not aware of any remote locations in the USA that would not be opposed by some faction. If it actually did get sited the problems with transmission and distribution would be monumental. You've got a positive vision but you don't know much about building power plants - USA or ROW (rest of world). The reality is quite different than most of the conjecture that is out there. It was stated that it takes 10 years to build a nuclear powerplant, I merely cited 2 sources that stated 5 years, you continue to guess that tree-huggers would actually stop and hold them up for another 5 yearss - that is your conjecture, even if it played out that you are right, at this point it takes 5 years per the cited material, to which you don't contest. Either cite or keep guessing.
  17. i am sure that in 3-5 years you could be online with nuclear, but that is after you remove the roadblocks. also China's government does what it wants irregardless of the peoples wishes. china doesn't have to listen to people saying what they do or do not want in courts. And we do? OJ's conviction was so in contrast with the 6th amendment, attacking Iraq was so illegal, snatching Noriega was so in violation of world laws, Guantanamo Bay prison was so against the Geneva Convention, we break so many world laws it's sick as well as ignore the will of the people that laws are simply short obstacles; I don't see how you can say our gov cares what we say. We could declare an emergency order and get er done. Oh yea, did I forget the debacle of the Airline strike right before 9/11? Bush told the workers he would void their contract if they struck, a fed judge backed him, even tho he said there was nothing allowing the pres that kind of authority. Please, we are sooooooooooooooo much above China

  19. Yeah - I wrote House when I should have wrote Senate. But you have an interesting point. Right now, the GOP must be telling Dubya he needs to "take one for the team", with McCain bashing him almost as much as Obama just to get votes. How much more interesting would it be if the Republicans pushed for an impeachment just to try to polarize the voting right? Yea, never thought of that, very interesting point. You'd see the dems voting against it. I wouldn't be surprised to see a R house member initiate that so as to distance themselves from the freak..... good observation.
  20. The pack volume is a problem... Yea, I hear they're heavy as hell too.
  21. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081009/ap_on_el_pr/palin_troopergate_1 ....err, I mean decided by Friday..... yea, dismissed.
  22. Mine is not conjecture as I posted 2 sources that state 5 to 6 years to get them online. Conjecture is to post something and not support it. >>>>>>>>>>>>This is isn't conjecture, it's a global reality. At best your argument is an American reality, as the article stated 5 years to build in China. You still have just assumed that there would be court tie-ups. These could be expeditiously adjudicated and a remote location chosen for construction.
  23. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>but alot of people that think like you don't understand how real life works Oh show me the way oh wise one....BAHAHAHAHHAHA >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>until there is a way to avoid this roadblock most companies will just keep on doing what they do now. We should do what Bush wants and to end all tort actions.
  24. That is in China. The exact same Plant being built here would take longer because of Union Issues, Additional Environmental Regulation, Additional Certifications and Documentation Requirements. Also there is the Ramp up period as the Supplier infrastructure will have to be rebuilt in this country. It has been 30 years since we built Nuke Plants here and dont forget that since N.E.`s have not exactly been employable in this country for the past 20 years... They may be a little hard to find (Along with the Skilled craftsmen that it will take to do the work and all the inspectiors.) If we started one tomorrow, It would be 10 years before it went live. As the supplier infrastructure started getting rebuilt, that time could be reduced for future projects but the first one will take 10 years. Also don’t forget the legal Battles that will hang it up for a few years. We can deal with ALL of these things But we need to get started right now. I am not putting a time line on anything. I am just saying we need to start building Power generation Plants right now if we are going to meet the energy demands of the future, especially if we are betting on the electric car. So your position is conjecture rather than real supporting evidence, ok. I agree that we need to start now, but your 10-year constraint was inserted simply to impeach Obama's idea that we could be there in 10 years. Who cares if it's 12 or 15 years, I think he wants to quit spending 10B/mont in Iraq and start using that to support our infrastructure. The Iraq War was for revenge; mission accomplished, let's get out and fix ourselves.
  25. What the FUCK were you thinking chosing that freak for a VP?
