    But was it a threat? He could have meant "I'll have you fired" or something similar. It's not like he said "Piss off or everybody dies!" And if you are not feeling well, and are half asleep, you can say things that you might not even be totally aware of.     Most of us don't do that. Why do fast food eaters think it is OK to throw that shit out their car windows? I find lots of McD's wrappers in my front yard.     Anyone else sick of it? Yes, the present administration has made some poor choices and gotten us into some trouble, but the general bashing of America and the people is starting to irritate. Anyone should be smart enough to see that the majority of Americans did not like where the country was headed, hence the recent elections.     I wouldn't come down on anyone who smokes. Pity them, yes, give 'em a hard time, no. That being said ... about the only thing I don't like about being a tandem master is taking up a smoker. Give me the fatties any day. To calm their nerves they light one up right before the jump. Then when I have to attach them "prison-friendly" to my harness I get to smell their breath, clothes and hair. Gawd, it's like licking an ash tray! Understood. I am a smoker (trying to quit) and I try not to smoke much at the DZ. When I do, I do it outside and make sure to have some altoids, as I can't stand that smell either.     Glenn Beck is a moron. I have heard his call screener own him on air several times. Sometimes he's funny, but I just don't think he's the person we should listen to right now.     Skydiving is more dangerous than smoking. Oh, and I'd like to ban a few more things: Fast Food Meat Driving Alcohol It amuses me that so many skydivers come down so hard on smokers.     I didn't have time to read through ALL of the messages, but let me say this.... I went off to Navy boot camp after high school, and then served 4 years as an avioics tech on an aircraft carrier. After that, I attended a small liberal arts college in Pennsylvania (fairly well respected school). Without a doubt I can make this statement - On average, the freshmen I started college with were much smarter than the seamen recruits I started boot camp with.     You answered your own question. Read the Friedman OP-ED in the NYT online today (it's free this week). He has been hawkish on Iraq, as well as being a Pulitzer prize winning Middle East expert, and his outlook is very grim.     I was hunting at age 12, and was very safety conscious. Even though we always had guns in the house (including my .410 at 12) I never once mishandled or 'played' with them, because I knew they were not toys, by training and experience. Most kids don't want to hurt themselves or someone else.     For a handgun, you can buy a safe with a spring loaded door and 5 pad electronic lock that can be opened in 2 seconds. Keeping a loaded pistol in this, under your bed, would be safe and effective, in my opinion. A gun will do you no good if it is not loaded, or if you can't get to it, or if it is locked (triggerlock). Also, consider a weapon light for either a pistol or shotgun. They will blind an intruder, and are sometimes enough to scare off an attacker.
