I think when the dvd gets here (oh yeah, they coudln't even get this thing on dvd....they couldn't figure out their own equiptment) im gonna look at it one more time just to make sure it was as bad as it was then take it back to them. I want the dzo to see this and tell me what he thinks should be done. As to blasting them on an open fourm...well they are a pretty small dz (which may be the reason they charged for it anyway....needed the $$$?) and the times I have been there have not seen many people. just an idea from someone that has never jumped with a camera. Couldn't there be a way to set up some kind of static line parachute system on your cameras? Maby this wouldn't be practical....and even if it did work could you imagine trying to find it once you landed! Well....just an idea. charge for the camera flyers jump or the tandem? personally...if i were in charge....that video would have been free. Also, i would have givin her another tandem discounted and a free video with it...its not every day someone makes there first skydive and to be charged so much for so much crap....... Ok so if you were doing a tandem video and totally f'd up would you charge? Im writting this because my friend did a tandem at a dz (wich will remain nameless) and paid for a video. Well, she was kind of in view at exit. The camera flyer quickly lost it. After finally catching up the camera must have been aimed 2 ft. to low. You Can somewhat see the girls chest strap every few seconds. Then they actually have the nerve to charge 70$......are they serious!?!?!? If i were that camera flyer and or dz owner i would have appologized...not charged. Maby i should have had the balls to say something??? well it seems everyone eles has told their stories i wanna tell mine. girl: i skyjump. I have 45 jumps. me: really? So what dz you jump at? girl: oh my friend owns a plane and gear i jump with him me: Really? He is army airborn qualified though. me: so I hear you skydive guy: yeah me: cool i'll have someone to go out to the dz with me: what license do you have? guy: oh i forgot i'll have to find it me: ok......how many jumps? guy: 80 me: what kind of jumps do you do? guy: freefall me: a little more specific? guy: freefall...i jump and pull the parachute after a few minutes me: wow really? what altitude you jumping from? guy: 15k to 40k me: what kinda gear you use? guy: ummm...i always borrow me: what kinda gear you "borrow?" guy: i forgot me: just admit it...i promiss i wont tell the ppl in our unit. guy: ok fine you caught me! I was really bumbed out this guy wasnt telling the truth. I thought I was going to have someone to car pool with to the dz. Though he did tell me he was intrested in getting a REAL license. but....who knows if he will actually do that. it was an infinity. I had just come back from an injury (due to another sport) I think that may have had something to do with it. The bridle did go back down under a flap. Thats why it seemed so obvious I don't know how me or no one eles caught it. Yeah your right...that took some real skill to do that without realizing it. i dont have an aad though i am deploying for a year pretty soon and when i get back i will definatly be getting one. When I had my pilot chute in tow I was in denial it was actually happening. I waited till I was a little below 1000 to do anything about it. Close one. Anyway, I know that everything that can be checked should (espically the chest strap, iv heard some scary stories about what happens when it isnt done right). When someone ask me to do a pin check though i just start from the pin and run my hand down the bridle to the pilot chute to make sure that there is nothing that can stop it from comming out. So when giving a pin check how many of you check for other things like bridle routed correctly? Just wondering because on my 32nd jump I had a pilot chute in tow. I had my gear checked twice before jumping. Once before I got in the plane and once right before exit. Obviously it wasnt caught either time. When i landed and was able to check out what happend it was clear right away the bridle was not routed correctly. I have no clue how that happend....maby I was in a rush to pack??? Don't really remember. I do know that ever since then whenever someone wants me to give them a pin check i always make sure the bridle is routed correctly too....and cocked. I got a brand new rig last week, I've been practicing packing (well, trying to practice packing) for the last few days.....I can't even get it into the bag. I AM SOOOOO FRUSTRATED!!! it can be hard with a brand new parachute....really slippery! I got my rig brand new too. It took a while for my parachute to not slide around all over the place. only dz iv been to in californa is perris. Its really a great place. Though elsinore is very close to perris iv never been there. I think you will be about 1 1/2 hours from either one....give or take 1/2 hour. hmm..i was just thinking of this a few days ago. One time at perris i was standing by the bomb shelter looking out at the landing area. I was thinking to myself "gosh iv been here alot and havent seen anyone make any bad landing mistakes; ie: low turns" Then less than a minute later i heard (at least i think i did...it may have been from someone near the pool) OH SHIIIITTTT!!!! and a very hard impact from a low turn.It was really messed up because i saw the whole thing from inital turn to impact. Im pretty sure the guy lived. He did get taken away by ambulance though. I didn't look away till it was too late. I hope I never see that again....very scary.
