  1. But people around could not pronounce Daniil Viktorovich, so now I go by Daniel.. ;(
  2. The only kind of real boobies on the picture.
  3. >I just wouldn't suggest using a pullup cord in that way to someone who is just starting to pack, or is trying to make a neat pack job out of a messy one. What is wrong with making a neat packing job out of the messy one? And keeping your energy, spent on wrestling the pig, for some more productive endeavours? Tying up line with a highly visible band is not more dangerous then forgeting to cock you pilot shute, misrouting your bridal, or forgeting to check your chest strap - all on that can happen once you race to a start after wasting your time on bagging.. Is not it?
  4. 20mph down, 60 mph horisontally would not be the worst wipe out for downhill skiing. Will need a heck of a neck protection (HANS?) to do it on purpose. And a slippery suit with padding. Speed skiers wiped at 100mph on 30 degree slopes. Same for distance jumpers (distance jumper has a pretty close speed parameters I would guess - and body position) I wiped out at what I think was above 45 mph, after a longish jump. Walked away. Would not repeat it on purpose though - but some people will. Taking into account GROUND EFFECT lift, that will improve last minute flare, if you approach a slope with perfectly matched incline, and allow for a controlled position on touchdown, it is curtainly survivable.. A bit of a gamble though..
  5. >yea but can they free fly?????????? It says (see the first post): "..it is not at all uncommon to see a small group of boobies flying in formation, heads down.." Umm.. free.. flying.. boobies..
  6. >Though small by comparison, the blue-footed booby has, proportionately, the largest tail And did you check their ARCH on this picture !!
  7. Cobalt deshevle. No Vlad - zachem tebe novyj parachut? ;-) I yesli na wingsuite prygat' - to eto nado triatlon.. (chtoby krainii sopla na zakryvalis' na otkrytii)
  8. Suburban? No, I do not have to haul horse trailers or boats.. And 50K for it? nah.. not me.. give me my cheap ass bimmer.. (and I will beat you over highway 108 ;-)))
  9. I only wish it were only that much! Muahhhhh Huh? Add normal markup over $29240 invoice.. add tax and registration ( - and you do not need shit like navigation, leather and automatic, do not you?) I did not get it - you think it too much or too little? I thought it is an OK deal for 6-cyl AWD vagon (compared to Passat V6, Audi, Outback 6H, Volvo, E320 4motion..)
  10. Unlimited money? Sedan - probably BMW M5, wagon - S6 Avant.. coupe - MB SL500. More practical allroad quatro. And no, I do not feel any affection for exotics or hot rods.. Even more practical (much cheaper) - I already got - BMW 325XiT - bike fits in.. all the gear fits in.. can sleep inside.. drives over snow fine, drives over dry mountian rods - ver-ry fine, vinyl wears like iron - no dirt or oil ruins it, .. cheaper then your SUV (
  11. > "It's all about the BOOBIES!" I do not think I agree. It is also about petrels, albatrosses, and pinguins. Just look at this picture attached, it shows a good pair of Boobies. Listen to boobies calling: http://www.terraquest.com/galapagos/wildlife/sound/rboobie.wav
  12. Just put extra 30-40lb on you and do pull-ups.. ;-)
  13. Found a description of the new Raven reserve: says it will be made out of Solar Max.. Hm.. How would it be to pack?? Is not it a ZP fabric?.. Also new sizes seems to be scaled down compared to -M Ravens - 128, 148, 168, 188 - seems like to match the pack volume of the previous model (168 ~ 181) .. During recent years our sport has seen freefall speeds increase significantly with the gaining popularity of headdown skydiving and speed skydiving events. Now, for the first time, here is a reserve parachute that is tested and manufactured specifically for these speed disciplines. The RavenMax Reserve is made with Dupont SolarMax fabric and constructed on a framework of our own custom woven Spectra support tape that is interlaced throughout the canopy for superior strength and reliability at these elevated speeds. This network of Spectra support tape is crafted together in combination with a spanwise reinforcement system. We have utilized the added strength of our superior spanwise seam structure and coupled it with a matrix of lateral load bearing members from one stabilizer to the other. The powerful chordwise structure of the upper surface combines with a bulletproof spanwise structure in the lower surface and all of it is tied together with our unique line attachment system to produce the strongest reserve we have ever manufactured, and we have been manufacturing reserve parachutes for over 20 years. The RavenMax Reserve has been drop tested at a speed of 250 mph with 20% more than the Maximum Operating Weight Limitation. If you like to skydive fast, the RavenMax is for you.
  14. Boobies -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Boobies belong to the family Sulidae, which also includes gannets. In the Galapagos, there are three boobies: the masked booby (Sula dactylatra), the red-footed booby (Sula sula) and the blue-footed booby (Sula nebouxii). Despite the obvious color differences, the three boobies are very similar in body shape, with the masked being the largest and the blue-footed the smallest. Though small by comparison, the blue-footed booby has, proportionately, the largest tail of the three. All three have torpedo-like bodies with sharply pointed beaks.. Boobies are plunge divers and their dive is spectacular. When they spot fish, from 30-50 feet in the air, they power-dive, beak-down into the water, folding their wings back only at the last minute disappearing for several seconds and then bobbing up to the surface. Blue-footed boobies dive in remarkably shallow water, and they use their large tails to pull themselves out of the dive. One usually sees individual birds fishing, but it is not at all uncommon to see a small group of boobies flying in formation, heads down, looking for fish.
  15. >So why was HMA banned from use in paragliders in Germany?? Maybe UV stability - very different requirements for hundreds of hours in the sun. And who said it was banned - do not listen everything that was said..
  16. OK - the picture attached, and some discription.. Guess I will have to wait for non-marketing drivel description a bit.. ;) Why do not you offer rib by rib paint scheme (should match the cell) and separate slider color (should match the center cell)? Not that I care, but still. .... The Fusion is Precision's entry range 9-cell elliptical main. This canopy has been developed for the skydiver who wants a little more kick and excitement than might be found in a 7-cell, but is still relatively docile when compared to our upper end 9-cell design, the Nitron. Wing loading is truly the key to the flight performance envelope of the Fusion. Depending on wing loading, the flight characteristics of the Fusion will grow from being docile and tame at the low end to exciting and zippy on the upper end, but the Fusion will always remember who is boss, and respond accordingly. The Fusion could serve a first time buyer very well for their first thousand jumps, and with the High Modulus Aramid fiber suspension lines there will be little worry about having to change out the lineset between seasons. This high-lift low-drag airfoil will always get you back from those questionable spots (or at least get you closer to the DZ than those other guys). For the more experienced skydivers flying at higher wing loadings, the Fusion can still kick up enough attitude to even satisfy those old-timers who used to fly the blade courses with their pocket rockets.
  17. > well thats not good. Why ?
  18. Even though Precision's web site is not updated - Para-gear offers them for sale. It looks like it is close to the Safire - but how close? Are cells scaled in size in the way of Safire? Does it use the same measurement method? Is it available in any size? How would pack volume compare to similarly labeled Sabre2 and Safire? Anybody jumps it?
  19. >I guess I will call now Why? Not that this money will not be wasted to pay NY energy trader bonuses..

    >And do you think Al Quaeda has been stopped by our all-out show of military force? To quote one guy who taught russian spetsnaz in Afganistan: "the only effective weapon here is money" U.S. is doing well in Afganistan, as it has a carrot for North Alliance ($200 a month and a parka for grunts, nice handouts for the big wigs), while nobody is willing to bankroll Taliban now (like U.S. did when Stingers atrted arriving in 1983.. U.S taxpayers like $3B on this fuckers you fight now..) Suicide bombing is so popular in part for $25 from Suddam for families. If U.S. will pay big bucks for those who give them up, and bankroll job creation n West Bank - it may have some effect. Will be cheaper in the end..
  21. >Ermmm.. no. If you rented from Square One you filled out a waiver on which you had to tell them how many jumps you'd done. ;-) Probably I did. But I am sure I would've honestly told the dude at the counter that they are pretty irrelevant (long time ago, on some rather funky equipment).. I guess I did not make an impression of a delicate flower.. and I think (in retrospect) I knew what I was doing. - so it kinda surprised me.. ;-)). But I honestly can not tell any sizeble difference in 189 vs 210 except smaller is a bit more controllable on a windy day.. 160 and smaller was noticable.. And of course I am trolling. (Viking - get 210 man.. and practice pull-ups..;-) Still too upset to jump again.. hanging around news groups..
  22. ..more fitting with my accent.. ;-) You don't frighten us, English pig-dogs! Go and boil your bottom, sons of a silly person. I blow my nose at you, so-called Arthur King, you and all your silly English k-nnnnniggets. Thpppppt! Thppt!Thppt!
  23. When I first came here, this was all swamp. Everyone said I was daft to build a castle on a swamp, but I built in all the same, just to show them. It sank into the swamp. So I built a second one. And that one sank into the swamp. So I built a third. That burned down, fell over, and then sank into the swamp. But the fourth one stayed up. And that's what you're going to get, Son, the strongest castle in all of England.
  24. >More chin-ups. >The answer is more chin-ups. Yup. I could easily pull a single front riser on a 260 and 230 student canopy.. But I can do a single arm pull up on an ice tool without leash.. :-) Excersize, dude.. ;-))
  25. Donna - I have been to Perris once, after a 10 year break in jumping, just repeated AFF here in U.S., and was still on student status. Nice folks at Square One recommended and rented me a 1.1 loaded Safire without asking anything (I just asked for a canopy to jump) That means 1.1 is safe in their opinion. ;-))
