  1. Flying with my friends and building cool formations. Being under canopy for 10+ minutes gives me more value for my jump ticket dollar. The flow I can get into flying smooth and banging out points in rots or sequential. Parabatics!! diamonds are a dawgs best friend
  2. both have their own different appeal for fun to me. do some research into the physics of each and you might see what I mean. but you'll never truly know until you've jumped diamonds are a dawgs best friend
  3. night crw crw from a balloon crw from a helicopter thread the needle as the thread, it seems I'm always part of the needle. bi-plane downplane tri-plane downplane base crw there's probably more jumps on my bucket list but the above should keep me busy for awhile. diamonds are a dawgs best friend
  4. after I've counted to 3. because if I take too long another dawg might swoop my slot. diamonds are a dawgs best friend
  5. Currently the main hot beds of CRW in the USA are Elsinore, CA and Lake Wales, FL. Both DZs have teams that train there. There's also good groups of CRW dawgs in Texas, the Wisconsin/ Chicago area, and the Conneticut/ Boston area as well. If you're wanting to learn CRW, to start out, all you really need is an experienced dawg with some spare gear. You could post here and on the Google Crwdogs group list. There's lots of dawgs around the world who are always wanting to share the CRW love with new people. diamonds are a dawgs best friend
  6. Also FYI- San Marcos is an AAD mandatory DZ. There's also Skydive Temple and Skydive 35 further north that don't require AADs. diamonds are a dawgs best friend

  9. 0/5/0 Helped a friend owe beer by organizing his first drag plane- good times! diamonds are a dawgs best friend
  10. Put it in the DZ beer fridge. Someone there will like it and drink the rest or they'll get drank at the end of the night when nothing else is left. Either way it didn't go to waste. diamonds are a dawgs best friend
  11. Anyone who'd laugh at another team for their performance is full of themselves, taking things way to seriously and forgotten they too were rookies to competition at one point. All the more experienced teams I know are more than willing to help out and give pointers to the less experienced teams at Nationals. diamonds are a dawgs best friend
  12. Thanks for the info! Pics would be cool. diamonds are a dawgs best friend
  13. Traveling may be necessary. I'm kind of in a similar boat, there's no CRW dawgs at either of the DZs close to me so I drive a few hours another DZ to do CRW. Also try asking around your DZ if they know any jumpers at another DZ they could put you in touch with. And try posting on here or the DZs FB page that you're looking for people to jump with. In my short time in the sport I've learned that speaking up is the best way to make things happen. diamonds are a dawgs best friend
  14. I'm wanting to learn about trailing streamers behind formations. Not the eels, the party streamer crepe paper sized kind. Logistics, safety concerns, ect. Thanks in advance. diamonds are a dawgs best friend
  15. Back in the fall of '07 I made excuses and backed out of going to Voodoo Fest with a very good friend because I spent all my travel/ ticket money on my 1st rig. He still doesn't know the truth. I don't have my SCR. I do have my CCR and CCS though. diamonds are a dawgs best friend
  16. *** The other two are Walt Appel (he got banned from DZ.com) and his girlfriend Kathleen Mayfield. I've been doing CRW with them at San Marcos and Temple for over two years now- good times! diamonds are a dawgs best friend
  17. I'm an every other weekend CRW Dawg. It's a 3 hour drive one way to the DZ I jump at. Last year with gas, foor and beer, and averaging 10 jumps a month I spent $4,000. Just on jumping locally. Add in the 2 boogies I traveled to and it's up to $6,000. But the experiences and fun I've had are priceless! diamonds are a dawgs best friend
  18. Count me in!! diamonds are a dawgs best friend
  19. Doing CRW I wear long sleeves and long pants with cargo pockets. It's to protect from line burn in case of a wrap and the pockets are to secure my phone in the event of an off landing so we can call for a ride. diamonds are a dawgs best friend

  21. a few traffic gripes- people on the phone who can't maintain the speed limit and can't keep from drifting into other lanes. hang up and drive or pull over to talk. people who race to the front of a lane that ends and cause a bottle neck slow down for the people who paid attention to the signs and got over earlier. merge earlier and keep traffic flowing. people at the front of the line at a red light who decide that's when they need to: dig around in the back seat, get more into thier text or phone conversation, or drift off into a daydream. i'm not saying you have to be ready to burn rubber as soon as it turns green, but pay attention the people you're holding up behind you have places to go too. tow truck drivers who tailgate and flash thier amber light to try to get people to move out of thier way. you are not an emergency vehilce quit trying to act like one. diamonds are a dawgs best friend
  22. I've always loved the sensations and rush of thrill rides. Especiaslly riding new ones for the first time. In the summer of 05 my nephew was visiting and I had gotten some free passes to Astroworld from the prinintg company I work for. As we're walking from one rollercoaster to the next we pass the Barnstormer Skycoater. I'd never been on it since it cost extra, but because I had got in for free I had some extra cash. So i asked my nephew if he'd want to go. He said, "Sure, just don't get me killed". So we strap in, they hoist us up, I pulled the rip cord and a great time was had by all. As we are leaving the park that day I realize that based on the Skycoaster experience I have to give skydiving a shot. Fast forward a few months. My buddy and I are at a Clutch show talking about different things between bands and he brings up that my birthday is coming up and that it's on a Saturday this year. What do I want to do. I tell him I really want to go skydiving, would he want to go with me? He says, "Sure, just don't get me killed." So we toasted to it with some Jager and I signed us up for AFF the next day. My buddy didn't stick with it but I knew I had found awesome sport and wanted more. I've continued, even coming back from a broken ankle, for many reasons: The challenge of building formations and the learning that comes with trying. Sharing a smile and a high five with your friends in the landing area right after a jump no matter how it went. The million dollar views of the clouds from the top and sunsets at altitude for the cost of a lift ticket. Sawping stories over a beer at the end if the day with people from all walks of life that have a common bond in the joy of jumping. diamonds are a dawgs best friend
  23. I'm super excited! The Texans are playoff bound. Rome said so and I whole heartedly agree. I've got a new Texans shirt and am more than ready for Sunday. WAR TEXANS!! diamonds are a dawgs best friend
  24. if you do go out to Skydive Houston be prepared, last i heard they still don't have A/C and with the current texas heat wave bring lots of water. you'll have no shortage of RW folks to jump with at either DZ. diamonds are a dawgs best friend
