***>So you were using a single isolated incident to refute a statement >about what most people would do? No, just what people here on DZ.com _actually_ do. *** And who or what are you to judge how Aggiedave handled his situation? What do you know which lets you use his case as an argument for your point? I have been involved in a similar situation, unarmed, at a gas station in Jax, FL in 1991. I was not armed. I was simply trying to get a few winks before getting back on the road to my Marine buddy's parent's place. I was woken up by my buddies jumping into my car, yelling to get the car started and drive. I started the car when a man approached my driver's side window and put his hand on my steering wheel. I didn't want to drag the guy, so I left the clutch in, as he proceeded to tell me to shut the car off and get the fuck out of the car. I noticed his tshirt was bloody. I chose not to listen, dumped the clutch and employed every one of my Laser turbo's 250 horses to get the hell out of there. A few bullets passed my vehicle, but I guess crackheads don't spend too much time on their marksmanship. Had he been a better shot, I, or any of the people in my car, may not be around today to tell the story. As it turned out, unbeknownst to me, in my blindspot, I had a gun to my head only moments earlier. I guess I got lucky that night. Did Dave see this guy's hands? Did he have a clue as to what was in them? Did he know if this person was a distraction from another person who may be coming up to the driver's door? Was his life in jeopardy? Who are you to say? mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.

I am sick of this totally fictional scenario. Show me the numbers and incidences. mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.

Actually, it is a number. Not countless at all. For instance, in 1998, there were 866 accidental firearms deaths--TOTAL--among children and adults. In 2000, firearms were involved in 86 accidental deaths of children below the age of 14. Those were 86 of the 5,600 deaths caused by unintentional injuries in this age group. mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.

Frankly, I believe the criminal code is just about where it should be. It is somewhat of a deterrent, but obviously, not always. What may be an "extremely poor argument" to you just may save my life someday, so I appreciate your opinion, but it does not affect mine. Actually, on the subject of "Bowling for Columbine," I liked Moore's other documentary "Canadian Bacon." It was quite thought provoking. Well, with stronger punishments for crimes and three strikes rules, in many cases simple robberies have become homocides due to witness potential. Personally, I'd like the deck to be stacked as much in my favor as possible. There are a lot of nutbags out there who would kill ya just as soon as take your bag of fritos. mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.

In the states, unless gun laws (NFA laws) change, you won't see any of these PDWs in the hands of collectors who don't plan on maintaining a Class III dealer's license till they die. Much like the 5.7mm cartridge of the FN guns, I don't think we'll ever see commercially available 4.6mm ammo, unless something dramatic takes place. I could be wrong... OTOH, firearms like these are just plain fun (albeit expensive) to shoot. mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.

This wasn't gonna be a problem in the European theater, for which it was designed. They expected that wounding an enemy soldier was better than killing him, because wounding takes out the target and the three guys who have to carry him. In the middle east, they found that nobody was carrying the wounded. In fact, the wounded wouldn't even quit fighting. Good news tho. There's a new round on the horizon, but it's gonna require rebarrelling every M16 out there to field. Funny thing, they are fielding M14 in Iraq right now. Unfortunately, those guns have parts which are not NSNed anymore, and they are going to civilian manufacturers for parts. I shot the sweetest M1A ever on Thursday. Springfield Armory is already producing their new M14/M1A SOCOM rifle for a few of the boys overseas. It's an M14/M1A with a 16.5-inch barrel(!!!!) and a tiny comp which completely removes muzzle rise. It's an amazing rifle. I might have found something to finally distract me from my AR fetish. It should be commercially available next year.

Actually, that's not the case. When they were using 55-grain bullets with a slow twist rate, yes, the bullet would tend to tumble when it's flight was disrupted. Newer, heavier bullets are better matched to newer, faster twist rates of most available barrels. What was to meant to increase accuracy, especially at greater distances, has come to sacrifice wounding potential. Also, FMJ has to hit something very hard to fragment. It will not fragment in soft material. Check an earthen bullet trap sometime. OTOH, ballistic tip ammo, such as Hornady's TAP will fragment within an inch or two of penetration, depending upon the density of the target. "Over stabilization" from the faster twist barrels actually increases the likelihood of fragmentation on softer surfaces, therefore releasing all of its energy in a short space. This is also why for CQB, .223 TAP is better than any hollowpoint handgun caliber. I've shot the HK PDW, FN P90, FN fiveseven pistol, HK MP5k, MP5A3sd, UMP .45 (suppressed and unsuppressed), etc., etc., etc. Each of those firearms is great. Not one of them is a single replacement for the rest. Each firearm has its own perfect scenario, and each will suck donkey dick in others. The PDW fires a projectile at similar velocities to the .223 Remington from a short barrel, but (big but) the projectile is less than half the weight of the .223. To compensate for the wounding deficiency of the 4.6mm round, they'll probably come up with a ballistic tip, but there goes your armor penetration. It probably wasnt the dope on the gun, it was probably the dope behind it. I had a Marine-issue M16 that was so beat I had to really lean on it to remove the slop between the upper and lower receivers. One fine day at the 500-yard line, with the stars lined up and the conditions just right and a magazine full of some friendly SS109, I knocked the first-round spotter off the spindle with the second shot and shattered the spindle with the third. Those guns will still shoot, my dear boy, I can promise you that. mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.

AK rifles are, by definition, automatic rifles. BUT, there are tons of semi-automatic AK rifle variants. Automatic AK rifles can also be converted to semi-automatic rifles. Yes, the AK-47 variant (among others) fires a 7.62x39mm cartridge. The paragraph you quote states that automatic rifles firing anything larger than 7.62 is unauthorized. Automatic or semi-automatic AK rifles in 7.62x39 are legal to possess. 7.62 is the diameter of the bullet. It equals .30 caliber. Further, anything semi-automatic or bolt-fed from .31 caliber up through .50 BMG aren't covered by this, hence, they are legal to own by every law-abiding Iraqi. My .300 winmag, which fires a 190 grain, 7.62 mm (bullet) accurately at 1,000 yards, would be perfectly legal over there, just like the full-auto AK--just as long as you don't put it under your dress. are we straight now? edit: bullet for cartridgesowwy. mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.

Hey Goose Ever been to a war zone? How bout on a peace-keeping mission? How about one during the rebuilding of a government? Well, sir, I have. You know my position on firearms in America. I tend to have a differing opinion of a country we are currently trying to rebuild, which has no central government to overthrow, btw. In a country such as Iraq, there are no uniformed soldiers attacking us on a daily basis. Our aggressors are blended into the fabric of the society in which we must patrol to maintain peace. Having rode security atop many a HMMWV, only to have the locals riding down the street with their AKs hanging out the window, finger on the trigger, muzzle in the general direction of my mellon, I can certainly see the need to keep all non-uniformed folks unarmed until things settle down. The good guys get twitchy when someone is walking around, sighting in his new AK on random stuff, while they are watching for potential ambushes. It just helps increase threat recognition. So, do the same rules apply over there as over here? Nope. Should they? Not yet, IMHO. mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.

And if that doesn't work, I say we go for manditory abortions in the cases of all pregnancys, for at least the next 60 years. That WILL solve the crime issue. Then again, what about the foreigners? Well, we'll just ask the UN to make this a world-wide rule. There, problems of humanity solved! mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.

From that site: Isn't that the exact criteria for a documentary? So, according to this website, the fictional parts of this movie are just little white lies. I always thought a lie was a lie. Well, that's not the story I heard. I hear from a very reliable source that when the Klan disbanded in 1871, they all moved to Toronto. In fact, I heard that Toronto had only a few people living there till the Klan showed up, and now look at the place!!!! mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.

How about a lot more? If they couldn't have had someone break existing laws to buy their guns, they would have spent more time and effort in building the bombs they brought to school with them. Remember the 60 fucking bombs? How many hundred kids would they have killed if they concentrated more on making those bombs function? Yeah, sure, it wouldn't have happened without guns... Your arguement is illogical. Michael Moore distorts facts and sensationalizes to accomplish his goals. Shhhhhhh! damn it! This was supposed to be top secret training! Now that the cat's out of the bag, turning points gives us something to do between the Hi exit and Lo opening. I like the way you think. I know of a dozen identical custom Kimber .45s which went off to the latest conflict with Gen. Tommy Frank's team. I also know of a huge assortment of firearms in 9mm, .45 ACP, .357 Sig and .40 S&W (to name a few) made by (insert name of any modern firearms manufacturer), which have gone to Iraq in the holsters of US military personel. The Beretta M9 is not the only pistol in Southwest Asia right now. Likewise, the M16 is not the only rifle over there. There are lots of belt-fed automatic FN M240s, FN M249s and Rock Island M60s, for example. There are Thompson 1927A-1s, Ingram M10s and HK MP5s of all configurations. There are Galils, and even a whole bunch of Barrett M82A-1 and M95 rifles chambered in .50 BMG. There are shotguns from HK, Benelli, Berretta, Remington and others. Edit: Shit, I almost forgot to add in all the M14 and AR-10 rifles that are being fielded over there right now. Frankly, I would be both happy and proud to own a collection of all of the above. Point is, you name it, it's being used by US troops. I've even heard of Stens being used by SF. mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.

Why? What did the NRA have to do with two sick individuals who illegally acquired firearms and built bombs to kill their classmates? Who? Fyi, here's the "TESTIMONY OF DARRELL SCOTT FATHER OF TWO VICTIMS OF COLUMBINE HIGH SCHOOL SHOOTING LITTLETON, COLORADO BEFORE THE SUBCOMMITTEE ON CRIME HOUSE JUDICIARY COMMITTEE UNITED STATES HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES" It's now obvious to me you know nothing about what you're talking about. Admittedly, I don't know much about the KKK, but I assume it was not created in 1871 by two former Union soldiers, Lt. Col. William Church and Capt. George Wingate, in order to support the national defense by bettering the appalling rifle marksmanship skills displayed during the Civil War. Furthermore, I would also assume it to be against the interest of the KKK for the NRA to be the major player with the NAACP in the overthrow of the "Black Codes" which prevented former slaves, their descendants and other blacks from owning firearms. Or, you can believe every slanderous accusation Michael "Less" conjures up. mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.

They sell it at the only chain grocery store in Orange, VA (Food Lion). I usually snag a few sixes when I go on a beer run. They sit untouched in the fridges for the first hour, and after the first one is opened, the rest are gone in short order. Makes me both
