NRA's release on the subject: mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.

That's laughable. Please show me any definitive evidence of suicide. (you can leave out the suicide by cop theories.) The Davidians were exercising their rights, as outlined in the Constitution of the United States of America and the Bill of Rights. The government just decided that leaving no witnesses was a better choice than possibly creating martyrs. Sometimes when you are knee-deep in shit with video cameras rolling, you either get out or start shoveling "fertilizer." mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.

In addition to dining off his property, he also ran regularly outside Mt. Carmel. (here's the kicker) Koresh was out shooting his "bad guns" WITH "undercover" BATF agents within TWO DAYS of the standoff at Mt. Carmel. Koresh was out and about and went to investigate some shooting on adjacent land. He met the "undercover" agents while they were having a little target practice during the surveillance on Mt. Carmel. He joined in the target practice, even though he suspected they were BATF agents. He found out later he was right...when they murdered him. mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.

First lets establish the descent rate of the canopy. We'll say it takes 90 seconds in full glide to descend 1,000 ft, which is approximately what we're lead to believe in this case. If the canopy has a forward speed (in relation to the ground) of 20 mph, it will travel 1/2 mile (2640 ft) in 90 seconds and descend, as we established, 1,000 ft. If you have uppers of 40 mph (58 ft per sec), for example, the canopy will travel backwards 1/2 mile in 1,000 ft. Lets assume the spiraling canopy is acting like a round and coming straight down. If you add a 58 fps wind, it will be traveling 58 fps in whatever direction the wind dictates. In a spiral, that canopy will be descending quite a bit faster than the full-glide canopy. Considering both canopies in the same 58 fps wind, if the spiraling canopy takes less than 45 seconds to descend 1,000 ft, it will have lost less ground to the wind than the canopy at full glide. How long does it take to spiral through 1,000 ft with the canopy/wingloading we're talking about? Having that information would provide you your answer. Personally, I would venture to guess that in a full spiral, the canopy would take about 1/4 the time as full glide (say 23 seconds) to descend 1,000 ft. If that were true, the canopy would lose half the ground of the canopy in full flight. Again, if my guess is wrong and it descended 1,000 in say 50 seconds, he'd be moving farther away from his intended target. None of this would be even a discussion, had Funks not grabbed a student Telesis with exposed bridal and tried to sit-fly it. Which leads me to something else: I don't care if I am about to jump with Olav, Dave Brown, Brian Germain or Jesus "Headdown" Christ, himself; I wouldn't jump with any of them if they couldn't fly their belly first and foremost. mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.

Different carve. mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.

A carve is similar to a hook in that the canopy pilot uses his front riser for a high performance landing. How is the difference. A carve builds speed through a longer, much less snappy turn. It allows the pilot to finesse and the turn rather than rotating around the axis of the canopy. I suggest taking a look in the swooping and canopy control forum for more info. mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.

A speed-inducing snap turn using either toggle or front riser, generally done close to the ground for a high performance landing. Toggle hooks are pretty much black death. Front riser hooks can easily put you into an unrecoverable corner. Front riser carves are the safer and often preferred alternative unless you are on a high level of experience (comp-level) or are just counting the jumps until you bounce. mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.

sorry, should have noted I was being sarcastic about the so-called "smart-guns" mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.

That's just complete smokescreening. It's the apples, plums and space aliens argument. To not be misleading it would need to read "In 1991, the nationwide-total number of firearms-related deaths was *14%* of the total number of motor-vehicle related deaths." Somebody just fancied themself terribly witty and cute with that one. mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.

Skydiving is listed as an "idea" on certain websites for those who wanna off themselves. A sudden lack of firearms in today's society would impact us--as skydivers without any constitutional protections to do what we do--greatly, I believe. mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.

Maybe so-called "smart-gun" technology should focus on the shooter not being able to shoot himself whether on purpose or not. Maybe that would make those who wanna check out work a little harder... mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.

If, in fact, it were a violation, that would be true. That is to say, if it were a violation AND you did it at a dz, that would be true. mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills. -

The answers are all in the FARs. Definition and interperetation are everything. In life, if the gov thinks there is a loophole in something, they will write up something to fix it, if there is a problem or not. One thing's for sure: If the FAA wants your ass, your ass is yours, no matter to what letter you follow the rules. mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills. -

How fucking kick ass is that?????? Dude, Thanks!!! It's wild to see that falling caused nearly four times the deaths as firearms and that asphyxiation caused two times as many people's death. Drownings were almost twice the number too. Even the number of poisonings are two percent greater than firearm deaths. chart mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.

Actually, I have personal experience in the matter, having made my 151st parachute ride off a fixed object. Even with two previous canopy control courses, I became quickly uncomfortable BASEing at the time. I didn't believe then, nor do I believe now that I was wired correctly for it at the time. Hell, until then, I was opening at an average of 6k. I was not prepared to exit low nor deploy low. A year of researching and preparing, and 150 skydives later, I started again, and am much more comfortable with BASE. With a double digit number, I'll listen to you all day long. If you had said something about someone with 66 jumps buying a rig on a no-questions website, I would have totally agreed. If you would have said his was a great choice and welcome to the club, I would have disagreed, but read everything you had to say. Since he posted it tho, nobody mentioned anything. I decided I would. If that's a bad thing to bring to light, sorry. If I am too green to have opinions on the matter, I will go back to contently reading people's thoughts, concepts and experiences. I am also sorry if you noted condescention or sarcasm in my post. I'd really rather you didn't read it that way. Skip the word "whopping" in future readings. Tom, if you wanna kill that word, I would appreciate it. Still, I have issues with two things: 1) Buying a BASE rig with very few skydives. 2) Unrestricted availability to buy a rig (on sites such as EBAY). Read the world base fatalities list. People have died for similar reasons. cya mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.

I dunno, you posted to it. You tell me... Now if you really want it to go away, you'll start talking about Hitler. According to at least one person with the ability to lock or delete threads, mere mention of that single word means the thread is dead... mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.

Ummmm, that is 100% incorrect. Every able-bodied male American citizen of the age of the majority is part of the militia. Unlike the USNG, the militia is not now, nor was it ever an organization of the government. Maybe do a little reading on the subject. You might be surprised. Starting point: the Federalist Papers. mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.

Psssst, Hey Kit, buyin a BASE rig, huh? Out of curiosity, is your profile up to date? Done 66 skydives? Hmmmm. Ya know, a BASE manufacturer wouldn't sell you a rig, nor would most BASErs with a rig for sale. Thank GOD for EBAY! mike Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills--You know, like nunchuk skills, bow-hunting skills, computer-hacking skills.
