I had a coworker say: hey, news story here about a guy that fell from skydiving and lived....I didn't look away from my screen and said "does it say his chute(s) failed from a couple miles up at hundred miles per hour made a loud crash and somehow lived but will jump again?" He thought I had already read the article lol. If we all think about it, maybe this type of misconception is a good thing. When someone's been nagging us about how dangerous skydiving is, and they use something like this as an example, it's our chance to say, "SEE? Skydiving's not that dangerous. This guy was able to land with NO parachute at all!" PS Yes, I know, skydiving is dangerous, and we shouldn't pretend it's not. I'm being facetious. My second big word of the day.

Well, you can still boycott Valentine's day if you're madly in love! We're fighting the system, sistah!!!! Fight the power! Fight the power!! PS Gifts on any other day of the year are awesome, in case anybody wants to show their love. To me, I mean.

No and no. I just think Valentine's Day is a crock. I can't feel romantic on demand. And if I feel loved or feel unloved, it's because of what happens the other 364 days of the year, not Feb 14th. Besides, it's fun to get things stirred up.

And I have no doubt you would be romantic and sweet and thoughtful all year long, not just Feb 14th. If you "walk the walk" you can "talk the talk". I'm not implying that people who go to church once or twice a year are wrong for doing so. I'm saying that people that act like jackasses every day do not suddenly exonerate themselves by attending church on Christmas and Easter. And buying flowers and candy on Valentine's Day doesn't show you care UNLESS you spend the rest of the year showing it as well.

That's right. I said it. Valentine's Day is a made-up day designed to make us all feel lonely or guilty. We're supposed to feel romantic on demand. We're supposed to think up an original present for an imaginary holiday. And if we're single, we just get to be reminded that the whole rest of the world is in love (which isn't really true by the way) and we are are excluded. So, I petition that we boycott Valentine's Day. Anyone with me? I'll be the first to put my name down. ------------------------------------------------------- We, the undersigned, hereby declare Valentine's Day to be a GIANT WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY AND COMPLETELY MADE UP. Guys, let's put this in perspective. It seems that all single people dread Valentine's Day because they are "alone". I'm here to tell you that a lot of married (or non-single) people dread it just as much. It's a made up holiday that requires you act all mushy and romantic for ONE night and spend TOO much money on transient things like flowers and dinner. bleh!!!! I equate it to people who go to church on the "big" holidays, but act like jackasses all of the rest of the time. What's the point of doing something once or twice a year? It doesn't MAKE you the person you are trying to project on those days. It's just a stupid day that has way too many expectations attached to it. I say we ALL boycott it!!!!! But really, I"m not bitter.....
