  1. I may not be famous but I sure get a lot of press. ;-) It helps when you jump regular with Scott. --- Thanks for the offer and I hope not to take you up on it. I just got my Triathlon rig back from relining and upgrades so hopefully I have two wingsuit rigs again. My life is way too exciting for any more low altitude excitment. Thank you again for the rig loan that was a real help. So any chance you will make it out to Lodi for the spring meet? Are you on Ed's Wingsuit list? See you again soon. 2. Gee I wonder who that is a picture of? ;-) Please no more head first or bounce pictures. They are too scary. Bob Working to be the last flyer on a birdman suit. ;-) ... Who also flies a tony suit.
  3. Thank you all for a great time and some good jumps. Hope to see you all next year. Bob Working to be the last flyer on a birdman suit. ;-) ... Who also flies a tony suit.
  4. Great, Finally the Northwest can fly again. We hope! ;-) Or flail or whatever. Working to be the last flyer on a birdman suit. ;-) ... Who also flies a tony suit.
  5. Cool! I tried to get some more folks from the Northwwst but it appears most of them have burrowed in for the season and are waiting for the snow (Or slush) to hit the slopes. See you there Working to be the last flyer on a birdman suit. ;-) ... Who also flies a tony suit.
  6. I am travelling down with Scott and will be there for the 28-30 Bob Working to be the last flyer on a birdman suit. ;-) ... Who also flies a tony suit.
  7. From high altitude aircraft flight the other factor is that the margin between stall speed and best glide gets very shallow at higher altitude. Ask the pilot of the Caravan doing a 30k jump how soft the plane flies on jump run at 30k. So the Wingsuit pilots efficiency would come into play for someone who does not totally have the suit sorted out yet. If you stay at best glide speed and not best endurance (Hang time) you should not have any problems. But this is a factor for the less experienced flyers trying to keep flying a big suit for 6 minutes. Working to be the last flyer on a birdman suit. ;-) ... Who also flies a tony suit.
  8. I will look at doing the updates. I have not had any issues with the flair but the softer openings would allow me to use both rigs with the WS. Thanks, Working to be the last flyer on a birdman suit. ;-) ... Who also flies a tony suit.
  9. I used to jump my Triathlon 170 with the wingsuit but after moving from my GTI to my S6 I avoid the Triathlon or open with everything shut down from flight. If you toss the Triathlon in full flight it slams you and often opens with line twist. Mine is an older 1994 Triathlon so it could be the rigging which has changed. I prefer my Aerodyne Pilot 168 that I can toss in full flight or slow flight. But I found the nose must be packed wide open or it too can open with some twists. Thanks again Monkey for helping me find all the pieces after my low chop. Working to be the last flyer on a birdman suit. ;-) ... Who also flies a tony suit.
  10. Well wheres the photographic proof we all need? Working to be the last flyer on a birdman suit. ;-) ... Who also flies a tony suit.
  11. Bob the Slug has to CANCEL! Things at home have gotten out of hand with relatives arriving from out of town and my general attitude the recent deaths in the Caravan crash. Guess I will need to stay home and do relative work. ;-) Please have a good time and I will see you in the spring meet if not before. Still hoping for a video from the event. And who has good plans for somewhere I can go in the next couple months? Bob Working to be the last flyer on a birdman suit. ;-) ... Who also flies a tony suit.
  12. Caravans may have deice boots. Since it is not disclosed yet which of the Northwest Caravans we don't know if it had functional boots. But because they were on a VFR flight they should not have been in the clouds. So we can only speculate. Working to be the last flyer on a birdman suit. ;-) ... Who also flies a tony suit.
  13. But this was a 3 hour, best case, flight in very cold conditions in a plane with passenger seats. The seats don't leave much room for wearing a rig. But it depends on weather they had been experiencing issues before the fatal one. They were apparently on VFR flight without flight following. There was no distress call received but if they were iced up they may not have been able to communicate. It will be a long while before the NTSB gives us even a preliminary report. I AM SPECULATING ABOUT THE ICE BASED ON THE REPORTED CONDITIONS. Working to be the last flyer on a birdman suit. ;-) ... Who also flies a tony suit.
  14. I guess we should have given the Base some exit assistance. But at least we got back to your house. Not as much fun as the Cluster Fly we did last year when it was clouded in. Hopefully Scott and I can get in some more practice before we head down. My flying seems to have rusted with all this Northwest weather. See you in a couple weeks. 15. Attached are the Washington DZ's including the posting above from Snohomish, WA. These are also posted to the google community pages. Working to be the last flyer on a birdman suit. ;-) ... Who also flies a tony suit.
  16. I have a great flat spin video done by Ed P. on my GTI while in wingsuit training. I like in your video was doing barrel rolls with my legs apart. Flipped to my back and started the inverted spin on my back. After about 3 turns I back looped out and dove away. Very scary the first time it happens. I will see if I can pull this out of my video library and post it to the group. Working to be the last flyer on a birdman suit. ;-) ... Who also flies a tony suit.
  17. Not only alive but skinny as a rail. At that weight he could not have been carrying much muscle. Good thing he was not flying a big suit. Working to be the last flyer on a birdman suit. ;-) ... Who also flies a tony suit.
  18. Or like the 2,1 meter and 65 Kilo guy who was flying a GTI and outflying those of us in V2's and S-6s. Bob Working to be the last flyer on a birdman suit. ;-) ... Who also flies a tony suit.
  19. I have a couple hundred jumps on my GTI and sustained flight below 54 MPH always eluded me. So the following is just IMHO ----------------------- Depending on your build and flight style this is probably the best you will see in your GTI. If you are looking to go slower vertical you will give up so much forward speed you will just be hanging on the edge of a stall and not flying efficiently. Best endurance speed will net you less distance than best glide speed. Hanging at the stall will get you lowest vertical but only briefly. Momentary flight into the mid 40s was occasional but just proceeded a stall. With my S-6 I can sustain flight in the mid 40's with good forward speed. Stepping the speed into the 50's gets much faster forward speeds and is more realistic for flocking with others. After I thought I had my S-6 figured out well and had learned better how to fly I went back to my GTI and still the best I could do was 48-52 MPH sustained. That being said there are some in our flock who can fly the GTI in formation with bigger suits and no problems. Your mileage, or flight time, may vary. Blue Skies. 20. Yea no warning on my part anyway. You would think I could at least fly well enough that some Monkey flipping my wing would not cause a roll. But you know us beginners. And thank you for getting me over the fear of rolling the S-6. Did you do rolls in your Ghost yet or do you need some help? Are you coming up to Oregon to help keep Scott flying straight and stable? 21. Scott, Lets fix that nobody to fly with problem. Maybe we can get some jumps in this weekend. Bob Working to be the last flyer on a birdman suit. ;-) ... Who also flies a tony suit.
  22. Lost Prairie Huh, Never heard of it! LOL ;-) We have 8 active Wingsuits in the Northwest. Hopefully we can get them all to come out and fly. Have fun in the Prairie. Bob Working to be the last flyer on a birdman suit. ;-) ... Who also flies a tony suit.
  23. I guess my plans need to change to be in Kaposwin. Where is LP? Are there any other birds coming to Shelton (Kapowsin)? I just put out a notice to the Northwest birdmen to see if we can all come out and fly with you. I believe Scott C is planning to be there. Cheers, Bob Working to be the last flyer on a birdman suit. ;-) ... Who also flies a tony suit.
  24. Congratulations Monkey. Makes my S-6 just so last year! ;-) Have fun and we shall see you soon. Want to come to the Northwest and fly with us? Scott should have his Ghost this week. Bob Working to be the last flyer on a birdman suit. ;-) ... Who also flies a tony suit.
  25. Charlie, Sounds like a real kick. Congratulations on getting the job. Keep up the flying and see you in the flock. Bob Working to be the last flyer on a birdman suit. ;-) ... Who also flies a tony suit.
