  1. nope all yours. needs a few updates - been a while since i touched it up
  2. because the 'market' would advocate for slave labor, dangerous chemicals in the environment, no airbags in cars or even seatbelts.... The 'market' already exists and it is the responsibility of govt to protect the people. yes that is a gray area, but not every decision can be boiled down to 'what does it cost?' If that were the case, we should and would never have bothered with putting a man on the moon or launching a Hubble telescope, or bothered to fund disease prevention and cures.. twisted ideology that assumes that markets will solve all problems. free markets, truly free markets will exploit and destroy everything in sight eventually. regulation forces the market to behave in accordance with at least some minimum of societal standards. But of course you already know that and would rather argue for the sake of arguing.
  3. that has more to do with a stupid tip law than a minimum wage law. tip workers get shafted in this country and exploited by employers and customers. If tipping is a great way to offset the wages, then I guess it would be OK for me to ask my car service dept to drop the price and allow me to pay them 'what I feel like' based on the service I got. I bet I do not get the car back.... another broken part of the system. Bottom line is that the Maine workers were voting for the system that they felt was going to pay them more money. How about we just solve that by paying them more money?
  4. we do not solve problems by doing nothing, and the 'science' will never be settled, as you pointed out in the rest of your post...since it will never be settled, therefore we can and will never do anything. Would be awesome if we ran the entire govt like that.....not. I would rather 'try something' and see if it works because doing the same thing expecting different results definitely does not work. That is why we hire experts to do the thinking and planning and then legislators to do the law writing - or something like that. While there may be no settled science to say that a minimum wage offers great things, there is plenty of historical evidence to say that it certainly does no harm, or very little harm to a few people while benefiting many people.
  5. equally absurd....all that happens is a price increase to the customer. I have 10 employees and I pay them each $12/hour or say $25K per year. My wage burden is $250K per year. example, not reality We do 75000 jumps each year, our primary product, so average of $3.33 per jump go to wages. way oversimplified. Wages go to $15/hour, so a 25% increase in the price of pay....raising the cost per jump to $4.16/hour, so I raise jump prices to $26 instead of $25 to cover it. These are not things that 'put companies out of business'..... Especially when to factor in tandems jumps which could go up by a couple dollars (hardly anything) to offset the increase for regular sport jumpers. Even a small shop with a handful of employees can manage that. Already determined that McDonald's would raise burger prices by a few cents. Your Walmart goods would go up by pennies. A small convenience store could choose to raise prices on cigarettes and beer more than milk, gas soda and coffee and do similar dynamics to solve the problem with little impact. And the benefits to society as a whole? Get Walmart employees off of Welfare, more spending power, more money driven INTO the economy not less. The downside? It drives inflation, but so does a shareholders greed for dividends arguably.. And most places are not looking for $15/hour minimum wage, these are a few extremes. Florida is just over $8. How about $10.50? What about $11? The problem with the nay-sayers is that they are not willing to move by ONE NICKLE on the issue, not a single cent. So people remain poor and unable to have the opportunity that the wealthy have. And wage increases for sure have not kept up with inflation (Except at Skydive City) where they have exceeded inflation for years because we believe in better employees, happier employees, and it has not hurt our business model at all, at the same time holding down costs to remain competitive. It's called 'running your business'
  6. already a flawed assumption from the get-go. EVERY economic decision has some fallout. EVERY economic policy creates some bad for someone somewhere. This study looks pretty fucking narrow in its scope. While there is some short/long term benefit and short term harm to minimum wage increases, the overall evidence is that there is NO damage whatsoever to the overall economy, society, business or otherwise....ever in the history of the recorded economy. minimum wage increases DO NOT cause harm to the economy or to the people that they serve I cannot stand these fucking generalizations like they are 'fact'.....they are opinion and belief structures. It is an obvious conclusion when you ask a business owner to pay more money for wages that automatically the reaction is "well that is going to hurt my business" but the reality and the history of economics says otherwise. And if EVERYONE in that economy is affected in the same way, then the net is zero effect. what is 'firm exit'? So many other papers I have read talk about the high turnover rate of employees in the foodservice industry anyway, and this seems to indicate that the rate of turnover increases....which is far different from the rate of EMPLOYMENT, or the rate of 'not being able to find workers' for employers. without more information this is fairly narrow and fairly inconclusive. Turnover rate could just mean that people are moving from one job to another to find better wages. good for them - that is what the American dream is...as so is the concept of businesses failing because they suck when it comes to taking care of employees if their product is shit and they cannot compete.
  7. FFRF.org was already going to sue them over the monument and it would have ended up being taken down at taxpayers expense....as have all the others. foolish move on the part of govt to think that can openly endorse a single religion above all others at taxpayers expense without repercussions. this is the problem with govt. Thinking we can just keep 'one slave' since it is only 'one' - ignoring the constitution. All this guy did was save the taxpayers a ton of money
  8. Sure, nothign to back it up except for the overwhelming evidence posted for the past 3 decades from the majority of the scientific world.... but of course, even if we posted a link to every one of the thousands and thousands and thousands of peer-reviewed papers and studies, you would still find a way to dismiss them with your 'several dozen' studies.... even when the last batch that you posted actually SUPPORT the argument that climate change is man-made - as I pointed out and as you summarily dismissed and sidetracked by never addressing that. But of course you would, because you have a belief structure that does not allow you to examine any evidence that goes against your belief structure. And you enjoy being a shit disturber and nay-sayer no matter what anyway. Pointless drivel...trying to teach a pig to sing.
  9. Dude, the river and harbors change They have been changing forever. Claiming that man affects them by dumping chemicals, raw sewage and waste into them is ridiculous Dude, the Health of people changes It has been changing forever. Claiming that man affects that by smoking, taking drugs or overeating is ridiculous Dude, the Forests change They have been changing forever. Claiming that man affects them by spraying agent orange onto them is ridiculous Got it. And don't call me 'dude' you ignoramous
  10. wow. So did you read any of the papers? The VERY FIRST ONE acknowledges global warming and climate change and only noted that their study is a narrow southern hemisphere region that appears to not see any dramatic changes "in sharp contrast" to the changes found in the northern hemisphere..... copy, paste, share....I'm an expert! got it.

  12. and that is no doubt what the real issue should be. Trump and his elite staff have yet to even acknowledge that Russia played a part in trying to influence an election and throw the country into chaos....deeply affecting the democracy we live in. I do not believe that Putin's goals had anything to do with supporting Trump, more to simply throw into question the credibility of our democracy, and from what I can see, it has been played perfectly, certainly effectively. Not a single thing is happening at the congressional or executive level to condone or look into the actual hacking and what Russia did, how it affected things. And Obama failed to act as well for fear of 'being a player in the election', but in hindsight, this should have all over the White House and the executive when it hit the radar last summer. But as well, the collusion/involvement aspect also needs to be investigated and all the Americans involved may very well have been 'played' by Russia. But the outcome is the same. America divided, America's democracy thrown into upheaval, mis-trust in the system, but no one is addressing that. Or even talking about it.
  13. Given that you already have a team of staff attorneys to protect you, it could very well be considered unnecessary. Unless of course you do not trust the team of govt paid-for attorneys that are staff to look after your 'personal interests'. But of course I am sure the taxpayer is picking up the tab for the outside counsel as well. And yes, that outside counsel can absolutely work for exclusively you, and 'your personal interests' because after all, when you go got elected, you swore to look after your own interests above all others interests....like say, the country or the Constitution. And those staff attorneys swore to uphold the Constitution...not to protect you. Yes they can hire outside attorneys...and the fact that they have absolutely reeks of the corruption that I expect we will see as the investigation progresses. Mostly a tactical move to further drag out proceedings, since you can now have dozens of attorneys, firms and individuals delaying proceedings for all the same reasons, tying this up for years at taxpayers expense. BTW, for all those times you claimed that Trump is not under investigation.... well Trump is now officially under investigation by Mueller and the FBI for obstruction of Justice. It's an actual investigation, just like the Russia investigation which you also claimed did not exist.
  14. please re-read your first post in this thread
  15. bingo, nothing will 'haunt' a narcissistic sociopath. He will always be right, always be great, always make the best decisions...even if he ended up in jail...it would be the 'greatest prison term of all time'. we elected a sociopath. confirmed pretty much every day simply by listening to the words that he speaks.
  16. They are only linked to murder in your mind. No, I know several folks that think they are guilty, just never charged. I understand that to the progressive liberal not being charged is equal to innocent. Like OJ, that have the best justice money can buy. I know several folks that believe in fictional bearded men in the sky. They believe that vaccines cause autism, they believe that the moon landing was a hoax and that the govt brought down the Twin Towers. However what you 'believe' has absolutely nothing to do with the facts, the burden of proof is on you to demonstrate your claim. Otherwise you can and will be summarily dismissed. As you should. But not being charged in the USA might or might not be called 'innocent' but it most certainly is called 'not guilty' in the USA and anything else is demonstrated a lack of respect/knowledge of the Constitution....you know, that pesky document that stands as the Supreme Law of the land. But rather than digress to constitutional issues...like you said, it has more to do with what you 'believe'. Which has zero to do with anything unless you have real facts and real evidence to back it up.
  17. https://www.google.com/search?q=under+investigation+meme&safe=off&rlz=1C5CHFA_enUS503US503&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi9wNGH28DUAhUJyyYKHcKuBMkQ_AUICigB&biw=1828&bih=889#safe=off&tbm=isch&q=hillary+under+investigation+meme seems a little ironic these days, no?
  18. ummm, they are the people that STARTED the investigation....not be part of the corruption. That is like saying - geez, should we investigate the cops for investigating that murder. I mean afterall, they are now part of the 'investigation'. Again, truly obtuse and baiting..... nice try though, i suppose.... for someone so disconnected from reality, and misunderstanding how even the most basic of organizational structures, like investigating crime, actually work. From my FB post this morning, in case you need further clarity into what we are investigating....as you have proclaimed on numerous occasions that it is somehow fake, not an investigation, not actually happening, not actually whatever it is....:
  19. It is difficult for me to believe that you can be so ridiculously obtuse about the facts of what is being investigated. Comey stated it himself. Several agencies are investigating it. several investigations are going on because evidence has surfaced and allegations have been made. 'It' is the Russian hacking and possibly having an effect on the election. That is an investigation...it is not a crime...yet. However, there appears to be evidence that suggests that other in the USA, Americans...might have also been involved in that. So that is worth 'investigating' and may or may not be or even lead to a crime. However there is MOST CERTAINLY an investigation or two going on about all of that. NOT A CRIME....an investigation, which involved many many processes. Obstruction of justice is interfering with ANY of those processes, or even attempting to interfere with those processes, whether or not you are even successful or achieve any result in your interference. And if that investigation leads to the Trump campaign, then those people involved will be investigated....and so on, leading up the chain. until the investigation is complete, which may or may not lead to a crime, or crimes, or misguidance, or inappropriate behavior or ethics issues, or any other 100,000 conclusions that it might come to. When a body is found in the woods....there is no 'crime'...but there is an investigation leading to the answer to the reason there is a body in the woods. That may or may not actually lead to a 'crime'. However you can still obstruct the investigation of the body in the woods....which IS A CRIME. good grief...really.... are you actually that unaware of the definitions of what is going on or do you just enjoy baiting people? I expected better of you but will from now on lower my expectations.
