His current status and treatment in isolation in no way is on par with the alleged crime. America likes witch hunts. It will be unfair as Bradley Manning is convicted in the court of public opinion long before he even sets foot in a courtroom. And if it is such an 'easy case' in your words, then I would have expected the trial to be over and done with already. Now what reason would the prosecution have for delaying it then?

The scripture is taken literally by many, interpreted by many, ignored by many, and exaggerated by many. Once again, your version is one of many, so it demonstrates CLEAR inconsistency within the same realm of religion. Science has lots of interpretation as well, but mostly it has FACTS. 2+2 is actually 4, no one disagrees with that, and if that changes, then science will change to meet that new standard. But 2+2 does actually equal 4. We know hat forces act on mass. We know a lot about thermodynamics, and we know a huge about about the molecule and the atom, even though we cannot see them. No one disputes those claims, we simply build on them. And none of it is based on a 'proper handling of science', it is based on the facts. The proper handling of scripture is an opinion. A system that serves only a portion and provides GREAT healthcare to that portion at a very high cost. Or a system that provides good healthcare to all at a lower cost. I accept the latter offer.

exactly - my insurance claim when I broke my neck was a nightmare I would wish on no one. I had insurance. Within 5 days of my accident, the bills began to roll in. I assumed that the vendors would bill my insurance company. No, they mostly bill me directly. I send them to my insurance company (Aetna I think - and a good plan too). The insurance company denies the claim. I send a letter asking why they denied the claim. They sent back a letter stating "We have reviewed your claim and decided it is not valid/warranted/whatever. I sent back a second letter demanding to know why the claim is not being paid and asking them to show in my policy where it says this is not covered. Then they pay the bill. Each of these correspondences takes 30-60 days. So a single bill could take 8 months to clear. By then, my credit report is already destroyed. The pile of paper was so thick I could not believe it. Nothing in plain english. claim numbers, invoice numbers, reference numbers, and 'generic-named' companies from all over the country. It got so bad, I developed my own form letters to manage it. Letter 1 with blanks to fill in the claim and invoice numbers, and then Letter 2 which was usually honored and paid. Yes, it is a piece of cake this HC system we have. And that was 10 years ago. It has gotten SO MUCH BETTER today i am sure. Now, how is it that someone with cancer who is bed-ridden and perhaps has no family r friends to manage this is supposed to deal with all that? yep, this system is near perfect.......sheesh!

Since a large chunk of the country cannot afford, it, it is not the best system. Not bullshit at all, it is an FAR that you have to use a parachute - even two of them. that was not my point anyway. The arguer was saying something about being forced to use something that does not work sometimes....I compared it to parachutes.... We are forced to wear seatbelts, but sometimes, rarely, they fail, or they inadvertently pin you in the car and you die due to the seatbelt. That does not make seatbelts 'unsafe'

Microsoft is laying off thousands over the past year. Yet they are breaking all projected profit estimates. no, no, no, thank YOU for making my argument. But seriously, Apple and Microsoft are not always the culprits. Some companies have good employee programs. PLENTY of companies, even good ol' American old fashioned technology have vacated after getting millions from the government in tax cuts and benefits, and STILL left the country for whatever reasons they can conjure up - but the real reason is greed. Government CAN actually change that. Few in Congress have the balls since these same companies line the pockets of politicians with money to get them elected, and on and on.....I digress...

I already admit that I and the business pay too little, if any taxes. so "you'll see" does not affect me.... I admit that part of the problem is we spend too much without funding it from the tax base. We need to decide WHAT programs we want, and we need to fund them from taxes primarily. Then the "You'll see" moment will be the realization from everyone that Holy Shit, this costs money, and the country will probably prioritize. And I bet we will prioritize things like, no wars, and more for social security, education and Medicare - i am all for it. How about a new tax that funds ONLY the military? And we put it into a separate fund. Now there is a tax I would like to see.

And I just got back from the meeting with the new Congressman Rich Nugent. All he talked about was how the deficit is going to cripple the country - no shit Sherlock. Disturbing statements: "I will vote for nothing that does any harm to Medicare or Social Security" (could be good or bad, everyone in the room thinks this is good) "The problem is government spending and regulation" (Great, so we have only one solution and we can anticipate more oil disasters and a raping of the entire world as we search for energy, as well as a further division between rich and poor.) "I will vote for no bill that increases taxes in any way" (I told him that was nuts, to think that we have 3 wars now and we will somehow reign in spending to fix the deficit) But hey, I would expect NOTHING LESS from a politician. At least me and Kennedy agree on something - life is looking up. The good news? Every single person who spoke is/was fed up with Congress and the inability of them to get anything done and they all plan to hold him personally accountable for failure - for whatever that is worth.

VAT tax has to do with sales. Income tax has to do with income. VAT is simple, but yes, I agree that it cannot be in addition to everything we already have, but it could also replace some things, like sales tax that we already have. I do not see how VAT can replace income tax
