Zoltan, I'm not sure you get it. Nobody wants to be a hero, it's just that we want to do the right thing. Why do people run into burning buildings to save a stranger? Personally, I will chase until 2000', regardless of who it is. I also believe you would have a better understanding if you were an AFF instructor. These students bond with you in the FJC. They are also entrusting us with their lives. As much as I try to make the students feel relaxed on a level 1, you can see the fear in their faces on the ride to altitude. Your attitude can ensure confidence in them and have a safer skydive. Even while under canopy I try to have a calm voice and always encourage them on the radio. It is our responsibility. How would you feel if doctors gave up on their patients too easily? Let's not be to critical of someone who did the right thing. Mark

Hmmmm... Just another day at the office!

Damn, J.P., ME TOO! Shit! I can't get them to shut up about it...... Chuck Yeah, me 3! (Since I only have a weekend job, now.) Actually, some get cold feet after the FJC...

You mean you haven't checked him yet??

Careful, there. I know a few jumpers with 10,000+ jumps, flying Spectres. I also know people who were jumping Stilletos before they got licensed and "knew" how to fly the canopy.

Well, she is the real Lady Croft and jumps at 'Snore.

So we had our first night jumps at Elsinore last night... 8 newbies were to be thrown out, and another 8 experienced night creatures leaping from full altitude. Tom was the JM for the newbies as I assisted with other stuff from the front of the plane. Last out we decided to do a night time Level 3 with one instructor. Tom would play the student. We spot, exit nicely, he dearches, I shake, he does a PRCP. I hesitate, not remembering what the dive flow was, then he does another. I give a thumbs up and release. After that it was just a matter of chasing and slot flying. I threw in several signals including Arms, COA and legs out. It was also funny because during one backslide I gave a legs out using my tongue while tracking towards him. It was funny because I was wearing a full-face helmet and it was at night. Yeah, like he could really see me. Anyway, so I got back into my slot, gave a legs out with my hand. 6 grand comes up and I give a COA at 5.5. I see this, laugh, nod my head and wave off. This being a fun jump we decided we would "game over" at around 4.5 and get out of dodge. Nice opening and cool night time accuracy in the peas. (Should've declared that one.) So, to keep people from being aprehensive of night jumps I suggest an introduction during the AFF training. Just kidding!!!

Oooh, you are bringing back bad memories!

Okay, it's 0100 here in SoCal. So I am able to say "Happy Skymother's day!" We had our first night jumps for 2003 tonight at Elsinore. Only 2 loads, but did some really fun shit. Did a night AFF level 3 jump, then a kick as 20+ point 2 way. The level 3 was cool, because my student was your typical level 3, only the lights were out. It was reallyl funny to give signals, too!

Sorry for your loss. And as many others have noted it is the hardest thing to do. I lost 3 friends within a year so I feel your pain. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I wonder who paid for those.....

Don't ya hate that?!! I have former students teaching me to freefly now! But I have dirt on them from their student days.

In one word: BEER! Seriously, though... Congratulations!

I don't think so...isn't that the one with the chick dancing in her seat wearing the pink hat? That's the Mitsubishi Eclipse... Negative. Breath is the one with the dude driving in the SUV at night. The passengers change as he drives down the road, listening to the song.
-
You mean Breath?
-
Well, with the top down you can fit in the new 'Stang!
