When I was a baby, someone had given me a little ‘tea set’ as a gift and it was one of my favorite toys. Daddy was in the living room engrossed in the evening news when I brought Daddy a little cup of ‘tea,’ which was just water. After several cups of tea and lots of praise for such yummy tea, my Mom came home. My Dad made her wait in the living room to watch his little princess bring him a cup of tea, because it was, “just the cutest thing!” My Mom waited, and sure enough, here I come down the hall with a cup of tea for Daddy and she watches him drink it up, then says, “Did it ever occur to you that the only place that baby can reach to get water is the toilet???” CLICK HERE! new blog posted 9/21/08 CSA #720

As I said in my first post, I left out some, becuase they can fit in certain classes, as the others, i didn't want to make a poll with 60+ differnt instruments. CLICK HERE! new blog posted 9/21/08 CSA #720 -

from my understanding, there is the soprano, alto, tenor, baritone, bass, and contrabass sax, with some minor differences in between the classes as well. the one the kid has confuses me a bit, I think it is a bass, but he calls it a contra. I would love to get my lungs back to what they used to be, and play a few notes on a bass. I miss playing baritone sax. *dreams* CLICK HERE! new blog posted 9/21/08 CSA #720 -

What is your favorite instrument in the winds family? I know that my poll does not cover every instrument, but the basic classes of them. Mine would have to be the Euphonium. I enjoy the rich sound that it produces, it is not nasely like the trombone, but still a tenor. When it wants to, it can sound like a tuba, or go to the opposite end of the spectrum and sound like one of them french horns. When played right, this horn is a magnificant instrument worthy of the brass family! CLICK HERE! new blog posted 9/21/08 CSA #720 -
Zen, thank you for the links. ... The chello is a wonderful instrument. very pleasing to the ear. Has a nice warm sound that resonates. mmmmmm. .. but then again, I've always loved the baritone/bass sounding instruments. CLICK HERE! new blog posted 9/21/08 CSA #720

wait, you mean i spelled intellectual wrong? dag nabbit! the link is nothing dangerous. I put it on my webpage from the cd. it is from Purcell's Dido and Aeneas 'When I am laid to Earth' otherwise known as Dido's Lament. I don't know what it is about the piece, but i really enjoy it. thought the context of the song is quite sad. CLICK HERE! new blog posted 9/21/08 CSA #720

yup. .. I used to live by this crap too, .. but then, I realized, that is what it is, is crap. Sure, I still ttry to live by it, but it's a cruel world out there, and nobody really wants a true leader. CLICK HERE! new blog posted 9/21/08 CSA #720

I went on a search to become a leader. I searched high and low. I spoke with authorty and people listened, but alas, there was one that was wiser than I and they followed her. I sought to inspire confidencebut the croud responded "Why should we trust you?" I postured and assumed the look of leadership with a countenace that glowed with confidence and pride. But many passed me by and never noticed my air of elegance. I ran ahead of the other, pointing the way to new heights. I demonstrated that I knew the route to greatness. And then I looked back and I was alone. "What shall I do," I queried? I've tried hard and used all that I know. And I sat me down and pondered long. And then I listened to the voices around me. And I heard what the group was trying to accomplish. I rolled up my sleeves and joined in the work. As we worked I asked, "Are we all together in what we want to do and how to get the job done?" And we thought together and we fought together and we struggled toward our goal. I found myself encouraging the fainthearted. I sout the ideas of those too shy to speak out. I taught those who had little skill. I praised those who worked hard. When our task was completed, one of the groups turned to me and said, "This would not have been done but for your leadership." At first I said, "I didn't lead, I just worked with the rest." And then I understood: leadership is not a goal. It's a way we want to go. I lead best when I help others to use themselves creatively. I lead best when I forget about myself as a leader and focus on my group, their needs and their goals. To lead is to serve. To give - to achieve TOGETHER. - Kathryn E.
