I like the Yellow Tail shiraz quite a bit, especially for what it costs. I'm a big fan of Firestone and Sunstone (both Ynez County, CA wines) outright though. Less talking, more flying.

A guy at our dz has a dog named whuffo. Less talking, more flying.

Ah, I figured since the Samurai is double tapered and the jedei is only tail tapered that it would be the other way around. I'm not even considering the purchase now. Thanks to everyone. Blues. Less talking, more flying.

Are you over your TSO (max suspended weight)
moto89 replied to Anvilbrother's topic in Gear and Rigging
I'm 135 soaking wet and at my altitude I am technically over TSO on my Raven Dash M 135. Less talking, more flying. -
It was this excerpt (last line) taken from Big Air Sportz' website in regard to the Samurai that had me thinking. "We steer experienced and aggressive pilots toward the 1.5 to 1.8 lbs/sf (many pilots are comfortable above 2.0lbs/sf). Intermediate and conservative pilots toward the 1.3 - 1.5 range. They have even been used by inexperienced jumpers at very low wing-loadings... Ultimately, wing-loading is a matter of preference and experience." Less talking, more flying.

Thanks for the input guys. I don't think I'm going to go for the deal. Part of me would like to buy it and keep it in the closet for a couple hundred jumps, but the temptation would probably be overwhelming. I do NOT have my heart set on an elliptical pocket rocket. Quite the contrary. It's just the Sabre 2/Pilot/Safire 2's that I'm really looking for are so so so expensive. It seemed like this was such a good deal, but I know it's not worth risking my well being over a few hundred dollars. The search goes on for a comparably sized tapered wing.... Also, being a discontinued canopy, is it possible to get line sets from Big Air Sportz if the time came up? Less talking, more flying.

Before you pack, lay your rig down on the main lift webs (like you would anyways), and take your brake lines over your index fingers (left side in left hand, right side in right hand), the lines coming off your rear risers over your middle fingers, and the front riser lines over your rings fingers. Once you walk from the container to the canopy like this and have found no twists or binding, combine both hands lines onto one hand (still maintaining the brake line index, rears middle, and fronts ring finger configuration). Separate the line groups by picking the indivual groups up out of you hand, checking to make sure they run from the risers to the canopy all by themselves, not wraped up with the other two groups. This isn't a full line continuity check but it will show you a step through if one is present, and it takes about 20 seconds. This was probably more long winded than it should have been, but I hope it makes some sense. Less talking, more flying.

Looking to see if anyone has experience with a Jedei loaded at or around this wingloading... I'm needing to buy a canopy (still jumping a loaned Silhouette), and have found a very good deal on a Jedei. Just trying to get an idea of how aggressive this canopy would be. I've talked to a number of instructors who know me and my flying well as well as my S&TA who have all said that they believe it is an appropriate loading for me, but I don't know much about the jedei and there is no info on it in the gear section of this site. Thanks for any info, I appreciate any input here guys! Less talking, more flying.

Erowid is a good site. I'd say I've got a good bit of experience with salvia. I've done it quite a few times and introduced a number of people to it as well. My first trip on the stuff was by far the craziest, but later trips I found to be more profound and emotional (I'd say in a very spiritual/good way). Haven't done it in about a year now, I felt like I built a tolerance to it and 35X was just making me feel like I smoked a shitload of weed for a couple minutes. If you'd like to know anything specific feel free to shoot me a pm. Less talking, more flying.

I think this looks like shite myself. Might be a fun gimmick for about 30 minutes but I can't see any value past that really. Less talking, more flying.

Something tells me a high profile illegal jump in North Korea just wouldn't be worth it. You think Jeb Corliss caught some shit for his Empire State Building shenanigans, imagine getting caught jumping this one. Less talking, more flying.

I wouldn't say it's black and white like that. I do some stupid shit over and over, but then somethings you only have to do once to know better than to never do again. Less talking, more flying.

Nonetheless, could it be possible that a crossbraced tandem canopy is not made for swooping, but rather taking cutting edge ram-air parachute technology to make a more efficient wing? I'm not saying that is my opinion, as I don't think I have the experience to say, rather playing the devil's advocate or something like that. Less talking, more flying.

You got jacked. I got mine in red a few weeks ago. It's hawt. Less talking, more flying.

Obviously not a TI, so I could not know the answer to this question which I why I pose it. Do tandem canopies have a reputation for heavily distorting in full brakes? Correct me if I am wrong, but cross braces are designed to minimize canopy distortion during a flare to make for a more efficient wing, as opposed to one that losing a significant amount of wing area mid flare. I could see this being an advantage and providing softer landings with more lift, not necessarily monster swoops. Less talking, more flying.

I'm not going to shout at anyone, but I do wonder if the canopy was stuffed in there like a brick. I have a 170 hybrid in my wings that was built for a 150 zp, and I have experienced one minor PC in tow, which I think can be attributed to the mismatch in container/canopy. Less talking, more flying.

Marry a girl who one day wants to move in with you and two days later decides she doesn't really want to spend a week trip with you that airline tickets have already been purchased for because she thinks going to new york with her friend sounds like a better plan leaving you high and fucking dry? Less talking, more flying.

Well, she was one of my best friends since middle school, and aside from maybe one really tight friend (yeah man, if you read it you know who you are ) I've never "clicked" with anyone like I do with her. We had a great relationship, but she has just turned so completely selfish in recent months I just can't take it anymore. In my opinion if you are going to tell someone you love them, then part of that is considering how your actions are going to affect that person. You cannot love someone and not care how they feel about what you do at the same time. When someone you "love" tells you a decision you have made is hurtful to them and is seriously straining the relationship, you do not tell them too bad.... not how things work when you actually love someone. Not to totally post whore it up, but can someone tell what the chances are of getting work as a packer (already pack at home dz) at Eloy for a week? I need something to keep me busy and my mind clear for a week that was going to be spent with her. Less talking, more flying.
-
Well I performed my EP's. Since my last post I spoke to her and she lied to me about something big. She did something very inconsiderate and hurtful and basically told me that she was going to do what she wanted, and damn anyone who gets in her way. So I looked right and pulled. This is about as bad as I have ever felt. Thought she was the one. Less talking, more flying.

Do what? I'm afraid I don't understand. Less talking, more flying.

Never mentioned this part of the story before, but it's about 150 times that. It was never a factor in the relationship, as I didn't even know until a few months in, but at this point it seriously has no bearing on my feelings toward this situation. Less talking, more flying.
