  1. It happened to me before. Not only did he grab my digital altimeter, he turned it off.
  2. That's great. Up here, just TI's alone make around 700. But those who also do AFFs and videos make even more. We're closed to students for three months, but we still do fun jumps. It's always fun to swoop the snow :)
  3. If you're skydiving staff, how many working jumps do you make a week during your skydiving season?
  4. ...and therein lies one way to catch the bozos. On top of that, maybe list those people for ALL I/Es reference. I agree with this. It would probably be a good idea to contact the previous dzo, manager, and S&TA, not just about a potential instructor's jump numbers, but also about what kind of person he is. Sometimes a jumper can create such a persona on the Internet that they seem more experienced than they really are, especially here on dz.com.
  5. This is what can happen when people go to other dz's or different states to get their rating. We had some guy who was afraid to take the AFF course with seven other jumpers at his own dz, so he went to a different state and came back with his AFF rating. After the manager and other staff at his own dropzone saw what poor AFFI he was, the manager didn't give him work. A couple months after receiving his rating, he was in a serious skydiving accident but still managed to "log" jumps. Now he regularly bitches and lies about the manager and other instructors at his own dz on the Internet.

  7. I know what you mean. When I got Skydiver of the Year, it was really special to me because it was a public vote. When I got the Safety Award, that really meant a lot to me, too, because the people who give it to you think you're safe and they appreciate your work.
  8. Yes. The Judy. I look at it as a respectable award.
  9. I wonder how many instructors got a safety award. Who here has one? If you have one, put your name up!
  10. Little Jimmy's AFF graduation jump almost two years ago. He grew up at the dz watching his dad jump out of planes. When the time came for him to jump, his dad asked me to take him. To celebrate his jump, another family friend who's an AFF instructor jumped with us.
  11. We had some guy dump his parachute out of the King Air while he was climbing out. It was scary shit. A picture was posted on Facebook. I'll see if I can find it.
  12. Man, this picture reminds me of something a few years back. A good friend of mine was waiting for his son to turn 18 so he could take him on an AFF. I was asked to take some pictures. I remember the look on his father's face when the parachute opened perfectly. He thought the world was in the palm of his hand.
  13. Years back, I took someone on a tandem. Now that person is my skydive partner, my wife, and the mother to my kids.
  14. Hi guys, when I'm not busy, I like to put my camera on for an AFF graduation jump. The students seem to really appreciate it. So if instructors have any cool AFF shots, post them! Merry Christmas to everyone!
  15. Nice picture, dude! You forgot the first one. Can you post it, if you don't mind. I'll buy you a double cheeseburger and some pain pills for your leg. See you in Moab next time. We're going to have fun!
