What the fuck are you talking about? - Dan G

To me this issue is not one of freedom of speech. It is about shooting ourselves in the foot for no good reason. The baddies want people to believe that we are on a Christian Crusade in their homelands. We all know we are not, but Mohammed who just signed up to join the ANA might not be convinced. Now he gets handed a scope that his buddy tells him is inscribed with a Christian symbol. It is not unreasonable for him to now question the motives of his trainers and the US as a whole. Putting these messages on military equipment is just stupid. There is no good reason to have these messages on the scopes, but there are a lot of good reasons not to have them. - Dan G

To wildcard451: Hey Brandon, can you cover for me at tonight's group discussion on string theory by the hanging harness? I've got some brain surgery scheduled and then have to rush over to the rocket design meeting by the bonfire. - Dan G

And how, exactly, did the terrorists manage to rig the buildings with the tons of explosives needed to bring them down? And how did they spend the weeks or months on site needed to place the explosives, pre-weaken the structure, and run the wiring without anyone noticing? And why fly planes into the buildings if they were already rigged to collapse? These questions apply no matter who was doing the rigging, but it would be even harder for foreign terrorists to do it. - Dan G

You got the solution right, but after about 5-6 gas removal operations, the baking soda will start to corrode your hardware. Trust me. Don't even get me started about removing placenta/afterbirth stains from the non-loadbearing ribs. Amniotic fluid is a bitch. - Dan G

There has got to be a hell of a story behind this. Well? - Dan G

No, according to the federal government there is no such thing as a homosexual married couple. Even if gay marriage is allowed in a certain state, the federal government doesn't recognize it. - Dan G
-
You can choose to get married in your church and not register the marriage with the government. If your marriage really is just between you, your fiance, her son, and God, why bother getting a government marriage license? You can also choose to do what most people do and get married and apply for the government benefits pertaining thereto. Gays don't have the second choice, and they should. - Dan G

C'mon, man, let's hug it out. - Dan G

I agree, but there is also the partisan kneejerk reaction of getting all indignant about it. Can't we all just get along? And maybe focus our attention on the real problems we have, instend of the make-believe ones? - Dan G

It would still be wrong, and the teacher should be fired. The crminal case regarding the 'hit' will be heard in court and presumably the teacher will get a fair trial. The school board should terminate this teacher regardless of the context (or intended use of the word 'hit') for even questioning the student's sexuality in front of the class. - Dan G
-
Read the link. It doesn't say that the teacher knew the student's sexuality. The teacher questioned the student about his sexuality in front of the class (which is unacceptable as well), and then offered to pay another student to 'put a hit' on the presumably gay student in question. BTW, the teacher's name was Randolfe. Maybe his gaydar was particularly well tuned? - Dan G

Holy shit, people, the story isn't true. Read the links. There are plenty of legitimate things about Pelosi you can bitch about. Going on and on about a false story just makes you look silly. - Dan G

What business is a student's sexuality to a teacher in ANY class? - Dan G

Irate Labor Leaders Press Obama on Proposed Health Care 'Cadillac' Tax

You really think Obama wants to give illegal aliens the right to vote? Or are you talking about giving them the right to vote in Union elections? - Dan G -
I agree with Travman. I like to get cordura everywhere it is offered, especially the booties, knees, and butt. If you're plopping down $400-500 on a suit, you want it to last. Definitely get big grippers, including inside legs. I'm not convinced the double arm grippers are necessary, but they probably don't hurt. I have bootie zippers on my Pit Special, but I hardly ever use them. I haven't had a problem with them, but I think they've been zipped and unzipped about three times in the last five years. Extra pockets are nice if you are one of those people who would use them. I wish I had an external pocket on my Pit Special for earplugs and a piece of cloth, but I survive without it. - Dan G

There are a couple of falacies in your statement. First, responsible people don't buy a dog, they adopt one from an animal shelter. Responsible shelters temperment test their animals, don't adopt dangerous dogs, and don't adopt to irresponsible people. Second, pit bulls do not have the instinctive nature to grab your trachea and crush you. That is pure media bullshit. Please see the attached picture from New Years of our two viscious dogs (a pit mix and a GSD mix) grabbing the trachea and crushing our friend. I mean, they can't help it, it's their nature. - Dan G

Some breeds are more aggressive. Chihuahuas, pomeranians, and daschunds are some of the most aggressive breeds out there. They bite all the time. Should we ban them? - Dan G
-
Aggression may be bred into some fighting dogs, but that is not all that pit bulls have been bred for. Besides the obvious physical characteristics of a strong jaw, thick neck, and high musclulature, loyalty is also of prime importance. Loyal dogs will fight for their masters, unloyal ones (regardless of physical attributes) are used as bait animals or culled as pups. Owning a big, powerful dog like a pit (or lab, or standard poodle) is a responsibility. Responsible dog owners don't leave their 3 year old unsupervised with any dog. - Dan G

Although pits are more likely than other breeds to be involved in a fatal attack, you are pulling the "100 times" out of your ass. The link here shows that 27% of fatal dog attacks between 1979 and 1998 were reported to be purebred pit types, and 4.1% reported to be crossbred pit-types. http://old.swivel.com/graphs/show/20898144 Pits are more likely to be involved to fatal attacks because the people who own them tend to be less responsible for the dogs, and often less responsible with their children. Pits also tend to be big and strong, so the result of their bite can be more serious than other breeds. Talk to anyone who has worked in an animal shelter and they'll tell you that the little dogs are much more likely to bite. People don't report chihuahua bites like they do pit bull bites. Breed determination is also often difficult, leading some non-pit dogs to be labelled pits because they bite someone. If you really think that the only reason this child was killed is because the dog was a pit, then you are sorely misinformed about general dog behavior. - Dan G

You mention a good marketing program, but the ASPCA has the best marketing program ever. Unfortunately, their marketing program is dedicated towards getting people like you (and most other Americans) to think they are anything other than a local New York City animal shelter. That is what the ASPCA is, a local animal shelter. They just got ahold of the name many years ago and aren't letting it go. Feel free to give them money, but don't be deluded into thinking it will do anything outside the 5 buroughs. As much as they are reviled, the only organization I know of that advocates for this issue with any effectiveness is PETA. Yes, some of what they do is way over the line, but they also do good work. You can go to their website and find out more. The videos are not all "from the old days." I stopped eating factory farmed mammals about a year ago because I just couldn't enjoy a burger thinking about the shitty life the animal likely had. The slaughter itself doesn't concern me nearly as much as the living conditions that most food animals have. Yes, there are some exceptions, and I've heard that true free grazing is starting to catch on in some parts of the states, but it is not the norm. Pigs, IMO, are way worse off than cows because of the cramped living conditions and the fact that they are highly intelligent. At least cows are really, really dumb. I'm still eating fowl and fish, but the chicken industry is pretty horrible. Someday I'll probably stop, I just haven't gotten there yet. - Dan G

You've obviously never tried to bathe a kitten. They are evil. I'd rather see North Korea, Iran, and Burma get nuclear weapons before a single kitten. - Dan G

That's not a lie. 1998 was the hottest year on record. The ten years since have been cooler, therefore the deniers say that the planet has been cooling for the last ten years. Even a cursory look at the temperature data shows that the planet is still warming, there just happened to be a particularly hot year ten years ago. - Dan G

The whole point of your posts was a typo in the letter attached to the Executive Directive. And I still don't see you admitting that this happened today, not one year ago. Are you still holding on to your notion that this Directive was issued December 8, 2008? - Dan G
