California's Proposition 19. Legal Weed!! What's everyone think?

Is it possible to have a thread that doesn't turn into an Obama-bash-a-thon? I'm guessing not. - Dan G -
Poll: Can this be viewed as anything but bigotry? Yes, muslims again.

[sarc]Good point. We, as a nation, should model our behavior after Al Qaeda.[/sarc] - Dan G -
Can this be viewed as anything but bigotry. Yes right wingers again.

You forgot: "This is bigotry, and I will buy more Campbell's soup to piss off the boycotters." - Dan G -
You do understand that censorship and criticism are not the same thing, right? - Dan G

Jesus fucking Christ! I've already explained myself repeatedly. Read the thread. - Dan G -

Nice. So directly after a statement admitting that stereotypes are silly, you make another, even more ridiculous stereotype. Intellectual honesty at its finest. And to the rest of you who are pretending not to get my point, grow up. - Dan G -

Okay, chief. Do your pom-pom hands get sore from all the cheerleading, or have you built up some good calluses? This "discussion" has moved from pointless to childish, and is well on it's way to just plain stupid. If you want to get the last word in, be my guest. I'm bored with you. - Dan G -
Just a joke. I think self-navigating cars would be great. No poo-poo here. Except the poo-poo in my pants as I attempt to survive my daily commute. I do think big city drivers would demand their cars had an "Asshole" mode, that would tailgate, weave, randomly honk the horn, and simulate texting. - Dan G

Do you really think this is how discussions work? Intentionally misunderstanding someone's point, and then harping on it for multiple posts does not an argument make. I don't bother reading Amazon's posts, just like I don't bother reading Lucky's. Quade is obviously liberal leaning, but I can't recall him making a habit of gross generalizations about the right. If he did, I would think it equally sily as the one posted here by airdvr. Happy? - Dan G -
You've obviously never driven in DC or Boston. Follwing distances are measured in microns, inches are for little old ladies. - Dan G

You're fucking killing me. I was trying to get airdvr to realize that his gross generalization was just as silly as mine. Let it go, for fuck's sake. - Dan G -

Subtlety is so useless around here. Let me try again: "THE LEFT" doesn't all think alike, and certainly doesn't think like the ridiculous stereotypes that people here constantly ascribe to them. Clearer? - Dan G -

DanG replied to turtlespeed's topic in Speakers Corner
I will post one as soon as airdvr posts a link to where someone on "The LEFT" said that it's not possble. I, too, will wait. - Dan G -

DanG replied to turtlespeed's topic in Speakers Corner
No, according to conservatives that's not possible, because they think only reason Hispanics come here is to live off the government dole, act as drug mules, or commit crimes. None of them come here to work hard and succeed. - Dan G -
Suicide attackers aren't generally concerned with the possibility of death. On the other hand, I agree that they are more likely to pick a place where there are large groups of people so as to inflict as much damage as possible. Whether or not they'd factor in the liklihood of an armed populace is unclear. As long as those civilians are okay with the fact that when the cops show up, they won't be able to tell the difference between attacker and armed civilian. The armed civilians may very well be killed anyway, but by someone other than the attacker. Welcome to guerilla warfare. - Dan G

And you're a pussy if you even have an AAD installed, much less turned on. - Dan G

The canopy/car anology is apt if you assume that as soon as you turn the car on, your buddy jams the gas pedal to the floor with a brick, breaks off the key, and jumps out. I doubt you'd do so well at the track under those circumstances. (Preemptive anti-smart-ass disclaimer: And no, the clutch won't disengage either) - Dan G

Like I said before, if that's the case at your DZ, they are doing it wrong. I, too, started 15 years ago, and received essentially no canopy training after the FJC. Students today receive canopy training (admitedly less than may be required) during the entire student program up the the A license. Or at least they should be. Read the ISP. It has tons more canopy information and requirements than existed when you and I made our first jumps. - Dan G
-
I agree to a point, but it's pretty hard to tell if a student is doing a rear riser turn vs. a toggle turn from 4000ft away, too. I took two professional canopy control courses, and neither one involved the instructor watching me do my canopy work from the ground with a pair of binoculars. The only part that was videoed/directly observed was the landing pattern work. That's the same thing that should be happening with ISP canopy instruction. The only way to avoid self-reporting of canopy practice is to jump with the student and do no-touch CRW. I think that's beyond what is practical for primary canopy control instruction. - Dan G
-
Then the coach or instructor is doing it wrong. When I was coaching (and jumping) I would spend the same amount of attention on canopy issues as on freefall. And I would "fail" students on levels G or H if they showed poor canopy control. If the instructional staff at your DZ is brushing over the canopy control portion of the ISP, then get that proverbial beam out of your eye. You might be surprized at the improvements you see. - Dan G

If the pilot doesn't want you grabbing something on the plane, don't grab it. Front float is a tough spot to exit, but with practice you'll get it. Remwa gave some great advice, it's all about presentation. A tip I used to give was to hold the bar with both hands, but bend your right elbow, and straighten your left. That turns your shoulders into the wind. The launch is just as remwa described, with an up and out motion of the left hip. - Dan G
