That's not how three strikes laws work. The three strike don't have to be for the same crime. - Dan G

My God, skipbelt just posted his own opinion without a link to an unrelated story. The end is nigh! - Dan G -
How exactly is this idea a scam? I thought Republicans were in favor of tax incentives for private enterprise. - Dan G

Great in concept. But someone has to be in charge, and it's naive to think that whomever that is won't start acting in the exact same way the current ruling class is. We're pretty much screwed. The only hope is to keep supporting people whose ideas we like, and don't support those we don't. And maybe, just maybe, things will be a little better if we all agree to stop buying the bullshit from both sides that say the other side is the antichrist. But again, that'll never happen, so we're pretty much screwed. - Dan G

I'm offended by the "Typical Liberal" picture. My glasses are not nearly that thick. - Dan G

All speech has to be taken in context. If I walked up to you on the street and said, "Hey, asshole," you'd probably be pretty pissed. If you call your best friend on the phone and he answers with, "Hey, asshole," you'd probably write it off as friendly banter. You most certainly are allowed to. You just have to face the consequences of your speech being taken in context. Just like anybody else. rushmc keeps bitching about speech being restricted, but can't provide any evidence of it actually happening. People are allowed to say anything they want, they just have to realize that there are always consequences. If someone wants to say racist things, no one is stopping them. Calling them a racist is not restricting their speech, it's just more speeech that needs to be taken in context. - Dan G

What happened to an employer's right to hire or fire as they see fit? Don't cry for Williams, he just got a $2million contract from Fox. - Dan G

Three pigs having sex on airport property. Ha. - Dan G

Shut up, man, you'll ruin it. I'm trying to get someone to take over for me. - Dan G

It's only for good doctors, Brandon. They get free BJs at participating strip clubs, too. Or you could join my club, I've only gotten one speeding ticket in the last five years, and the officer downgraded it to a lesser fine for me. There are some downsides, though. - Dan G

Right. And this has fuck all to do with Christians and gays, exactly how? - Dan G

From Wiki: The (US-Mexico) border's total length is 3,169 km (1,969 miles), according to figures given by the International Boundary and Water Commission.[1] And from countrystudies.us: Pakistan's boundary with Afghanistan is about 2,250 kilometers long. So, the Afghan-Pakistan border is 71% the length of the US-Mexico border. While the terrain is certainly more rugged in Afghanistan, if it is so easy to seal our border with Mexico using a few UAVs, why are we having such a tough time of it in Afghanistan? - Dan G

Well, it was posted on foxnews.com, silly me for thinking Fox News might be involved. And you should really look into the Washington Times. They make Fox News look like a bunch of lefty pamphleteers. - Dan G

Um, no they're not. - Dan G

Did you not make it that far? And do you find it intertesting that Fox News buried that quote in the 7th paragraph? I'm obviously not defending Mexican assassins in the US (although you will claim I am) but you really should read the stories you reference. - Dan G

Here's the problem as I see it: when two people love each other enough to get married, raise a family, and spend the rest of their lives together, the Church calls it a blessing and expression of God's love on Earth. Unless those two people happen to be men, in which case that same situation is a sin and an abomination. - Dan G

And your outrage is real? Gimme a break. No, I don't think I've ever gone apeshit over anything, really. BTW, the latest group to go apeshit over election fraud was right wingers over ACORN. Apeshit going is equal opportunity. Another BTW: 1. You have to admit Rich Whitey is kind of funny. 2. I know a guy, former jumper, named Rich Whitney, so it's doubly funny. 3. That fucker annoyed the shit out of me (on purpose) on a five hour drive from Lost Praire to Spokane one year, so I'm glad he's getting screwed on the ballot. - Dan G

I actually agree with most of what you've said here. I always thought that the hop-n-pops and solo tracking drives in the early part of the coached section of the ISP were a good time to focus on canopy skills. The freefall portions of those jumps are pretty simple, with very limited goals. I don't think it would be too much to concentrate more canopy work into those 4-5 jumps. It would require the DZ have a dedicated canopy instructor to work with the students and observe them. The only thing I take exception to in your post is the implication that USPA hasn't done anything to improve open canopy incidents. I think it has, but you may be right that it needs to go further. I'm not convinced that primary education, however, will improve the statistics. Many of the open canopy fatalities every year are experienced jumpers, some highly experienced. A good number come to mind, in fact, that would probably have been qualified to teach a primary canopy course. - Dan G

Fuckin' sweet! Could you give the Pentagon a ring and clue them in? They'd love to use your technology to close the Afghan-Pakistan border. - Dan G -
I never said the ISP is perfect. I'm just pointing out that your criticisms do not accurately reflect the ISP. Furthermore, most if not all of the training you advocate is already contained in the ISP. If there is an implemenation problem, then it needs to be addressed, but saying that the USPA has done nothing to address canopy training since you started jumping in 1995 ignores the very real fact that they completely revamped canopy training. If old school instructors and DZOs don't implement it, then the blame does not lie entirely on USPA's shoulders. USPA can't go around to every DZ and conduct the training themselves, that's not their job. It is up to instructors to train their students, and USPA has prvided at least a good framework for them to use. If you think you see 'Close your eyes and push the ISP, close your eyes and push the ISP, close your eyes and push the ISP', all I see from you is 'Blame USPA, blame USPA, blame USPA.' - Dan G

The canopy control portion of Categories E-H (actually, of the whole ISP) is to be taught and signed by an instructor. Not a Coach. Again, you're doing it wrong. - Dan G
