Stop trying to be reasonable. This is SC, you're either with us, or against us. - Dan G -

New edition of 'Huckleberry Finn' to lose the 'n' word
DanG replied to quade's topic in Speakers Corner
A local DC official got in trouble for using that word a few years ago. His protestations that it had nothing to do with 'nigger' fell on deaf ears. I recently heard some comedian talking about how paranoid he'd gotten about using words that sounded similar. He said something along the lines of, "I don't even say the California Governor's name anymore: Schwarten...". Of course, you can't say the new Governor of Califonia's name either. - Dan G -
I bought a pellet gun last winter and was surprised how much force it took to charge it. Mine is not the break barrel type yours sounds like, so maybe there is a difference in force required, but you are compressing the air quite a bit. It is not like a BB gun where you gradually pump up the pressure. I built a pellet trap out of plywood and sheet aluminum from the roofing section of the hardware store. You definitely want a trap, my gun will seriously dent the aluminum from 10m away. It would definitely put out an eye. - Dan G

Bawny Fwank, "Hiers Didn't Do Anything To Deserve Inheritance"
DanG replied to skyrider's topic in Speakers Corner
If you had made this statement, "taking people's money for the reason that they don't deserve it is uncaring, cruel, considers that person below others, and is despotic?" I would have been less put out. Your statement made the assumption that anyone left of center believes in taking people's money because they don't deserve it. That's what I found to be doozyrific. - Dan G -
Bawny Fwank, "Hiers Didn't Do Anything To Deserve Inheritance"

Wow. You're usually quite reasonable, but that's a doozy. - Dan G -
No, he's saying that every country should abide by its own laws. - Dan G

No, the point is most people find the current situation untenable. Clearly GeorgiaDon was talking about ways to prevent the majority of people from having to pay for the emergency treatment of the uninsured. "One solution might be..." - Dan G

Right, which is why he said, "One solution might be..." - Dan G

Where did you get it? The units don't make much sense in C. - Dan G
-
Okay, that makes sense. It just seems like an hour is a long time to wait. I also wonder why someone would take shots at 350yrds with iron sights, but that's a whole 'nother discussion. - Dan G

You said the right toggle wasn't there. Could it have been that the right brake (or both brakes) were not set before the pack job? That could lead to a hard opening, and would allow the toggle to fall away after the line broke. - Dan G

I'm not a hunter, but I have absolutely no problem with ethical hunting. That being said, why did you sit there for an hour before finding out if your traget was dead? Did I misread you? - Dan G

What is called diplomatic efforts? Try to remember that we don't know what internal dialogue is going on in your head. If you choose to use pronouns, they should clearly relate to a previously defined noun, preferably in the same post. - Dan G
-
Again, no. All it says is that the US engaged in diplomatic efforts to get agreement in Copenhagen. There is no mention of motive. Conspiracy theorists can assign an evil motive if they choose, but no reasonable person would accept that article as support for any conluson on motive. - Dan G
-
As usual, that article doesn't say what you think it says. The fact that the US pursued displomatic efforts to get international climate change agreement does not in any way imply that anthropogenic climate change is not real. - Dan G

I'm sorry, I really won't argue with your distorded memory of media coverage of elections that happened 14-18 years ago. - Dan G

You could have just said that to begin with. - Dan G

Just because Obama got elected, doesn't mean that character was not an issue. Most intelligent people realized that the majority of character attacks on Obama were baseless. - Dan G
