Critics slam Georgia paper for doctored photo of governor as Nazi
DanG replied to labrys's topic in Speakers Corner
Must have been in another thread. In this one you just asked where the criticism was. You provided no other commentary. Great. Who are you targeting here? One of the leading categories of gun injury is self-inflcted wounds. - Dan G -

Yeah, why haven't you criticized that yet? - Dan G -
BTW, I didn't quit skydiving for the environment, I just wasn't digging that much anymore. I immediately started working on my pilot's license, so my net fuel use stayed about the same. I drive a hybrid because of a long ass commute. The fact that it uses less gas is better for the environment, but it's also better for my wallet. The people who say that if you don't live like a 14th century serf you can't care about the environment are making the logical error of the false dichotomy. You can live a modern US lifestyle and still take steps to reduce your demand. I said we need to reduce demand, not eliminate demand. The burial comment was pretty funny. - Dan G

Already stopped skydiving, and I drive a hybrid. Your turn. - Dan G

Gosh, 3.65 billion barrels of oil. That would last us about 6 months. Source: https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/rankorder/2174rank.html We need to cut demand. - Dan G

Because then you would have bitched that he only hires egghead elitists with no practical experience. - Dan G

And now SC is the right forum after all. Wel done. - Dan G

Which rights, specifically, are enumerated for all people and which are reserved for citizens? Please be specific and cite passages from the Constitution. - Dan G

Read it. He's wrong. Foreigners have basic rights when under the jurisdiction of the US. Those basic rights are enumerated in the Constitution. The fact that you don't like it doesn't make it not so. We used to pride ourselves on our love of freedom and justice. It's a shame some Americans no longer feel that way. - Dan G

Here, for your education: Can you point out where the word citizen is used? - Dan G

That pesky Constitution is so annoying sometimes, isn't it? - Dan G

I realize there are already laws on the books about conspiracy, fraud, inciting violence, etc. In fact, I agree that we should error on the side of allowing speech, including potentially dangerous speech. I was commenting on my perception that remwa believed no speech whatsoever should be disallowed. Apparently my perception was in error. I deeply apologize, for the children. - Dan G

I really don't see it, but my glasses are different colored than yours. - Dan G

Well, then they would be wrong. It is also wrong, however, to claim that only "The Left" makes bullshit, inflammatory statements like that, or that when "The Right" makes bullshit, inflammatory statements, they are only doing it because "The Left" did it first. In order to figure out who did it first, we'd first have to determine how Cain voted. - Dan G

Okay, Mr. McNitpickerston. Please mentally edit to read, "...under any circumstance short of Constitutional amendment." I've edited my original post so that future Constitutional scholars reviewing this thread are not confused. - Dan G

I think that's a dangerous line you're drawing. There needs to be some limit to speech that incites violence, is related to conspiracy to commit crimes, or is commercially fraudulent. "You should go bash John and Harry in the head tonight. Here's a map to where they live." Is the guy with the bloddy baseball bat the only one that contributed, or is the map drawer also partly to blame? "Buy my product, it will not harm you in any way." If the product is rat poison and it is being sold as sugar, would you argue that the guy who put it in his coffee made the decision to eat it, and anything anyone else said did not contribute? We can't say that there is no such thing as illegal speech. That being said, Sarah Palin's camp putting crosshairs (yes, they were crosshairs) on a map did not lead Loughner to shoot Giffords. - Dan G

The Bill of Rights does not grant us our rights, it specifies which rights may not be taken away under any circumstance short of Constitutional amendment. The Constitution does not grant us rights. No, the Founders did not list the right to ingest substances as a right that may not be taken, but that doesn't mean that they did not intend us to have that right. Yes, I know you are a lawyer. No, I don't do drugs. - Dan G

a. I'm not a "lefty". Unless you mean I'm left handed, in which case you are correct. b. I have never called anything you said "hate speech". I'm against hate crimes or hate speech being illegal, but if someone says something that is bullshit, I will call them out on it. I see it about equally from both sides. Indeed. - Dan G

What is "soft censorship" to you? If it is preventing someone from saying what they think by assigning negative labels like "racist", "communist", "vitriol", or "blood libel", then I suggest you've shown yourself to be in favor of it when it comes from the Right, but not so much when it comes from the Left. - Dan G
-
So you're in favor of "soft censorship"? - Dan G
