  1. I'm not sure about the "California touchy-feely" part. When I greet old Army buddies we "man hug" and we're not exactly a touchy-feely crowd. If a hug is appropriate, I'll equally hug a man or a woman. It's only appropriate, for me at least, if the person is a very close friend, or if we've seen some shit together. Army buddies and skydivers get a hug. Work friends, people I'm meeting for the first time, and casual acquaintances not so much. Touching someone on the elbow to get their attention is not over any line I've ever come across. - Dan G
  2. Examples? Or is everything bad now an "Obama trick"? - Dan G
  3. Jerry, I agree that even WW3 wouldn't be a good reason to keep Trump any longer than possible, I was just articulating the apparent thinking. Why else poke the hornets' nest by declaring Jerusalem the capital of Israel? It doesn't make any sense to any rational person. On the other hand, I'd rather have Pence than Trump any day of the week. Sure, he's a fundamentalist nutjob, but I think he has, at least once in his life, considered the fact that there are other people on the planet besides himself. - Dan G
  4. It would be insanity to impeach a president during a war, so Trump is doing everything he can to start one. Or two. - Dan G
  5. Huh? Are you saying all those hundreds of DZs running Twin Otters are doing so at a loss because they can only load 22-24 jumpers per load? How are they all staying in business? - Dan G
  6. Bullshit. Your claim that all politicians are dirty so it doesn't matter is exactly what is wrong with politics today. Not all politicians are dirty, but they are all human. You are equating normal human failures to abhorrent crimes against children. And to counter the coming off-point rebuttal, I'm not saying you support Moore or child abuse. I'm saying your framework leads to excuses to support Moore and ignore child abuse. - Dan G
  7. Gerrymandered districts help Republicans keep control of statehouses, where the districts maps are drawn. You're right that gerrymandering doesn't affect the presidential election directly, but control of the statehouse means control over voter laws, which certainly have effects on national elections. - Dan G
  8. I still see a problem with making eligibility requirements outside of the Constitution itself, but if it applied to all three branches, then it would be more palatable. I totally agree with you on the electoral college. - Dan G
  9. I don't think it is wise to let one branch of the government impose restrictions on who may serve in another branch of the government. The branches are supposed to be checks on each other. If we let Congress put additional restrictions on who may serve as president, we'd be giving them undue influence over the Executive branch. In the same way, the president shouldn't get to decide who may serve in Congress. - Dan G
  10. No, he clearly felt the warm touch of His Noodly Appendage. Or he had some other (false) religious practice that kept his mind off the fact that he was incarcerated. - Dan G
  11. Ah, so if he's a Christian it was Christ giving him strength, but if he's anything else then his religion is just a useful mental construct. An introspective person might ponder that with an open mind. - Dan G
  12. How would you react if you find out he dedicated himself to Islam? - Dan G
  13. Hey man, that's just Roy Moore telling it like it is to the left-wing lie-o-media scum! MAGA - Dan G
  14. Have you considered the possibility that your friend was wrong? - Dan G
  15. Of course we've had different prices for different connections. What we haven't had is different prices for different content. - Dan G
  16. Just because Mitt Romney lost the election doesn't mean he was torn down by the liberal press. He was an uninspiring candidate up against a very charismatic and successful (regardless of your beliefs) sitting president. I thought Romney was treated pretty fairly by the media. He just didn't make people care about his candidacy. Also, it is not like Romney didn't have tons of political success. Just because he didn't become president doesn't mean that he wasn't a very successful politician. Ted Cruz wasn't torn down by the liberal nedia, he was torn down by the nationalist nutjob wing of the Republican party. He is also highly unlikable, wooden, and weird. Not great qualities in a presidential candidate. And again, it is hard to claim that a sitting Senator has been torn down by anyone. He's a member of a very elite political club. - Dan G
  17. Can you give a single example of a righteous candidate that rose up and was torn down by the liberals? - Dan G
  18. No, we shouldn't ignore the actions of either Franken or Moore. My beef is with the people who justify their support of Moore by claiming all politicians are sleezy and pointing to Franken. Feanken's misbehavior does not excuse Moore's pedophilia or attempted rape. - Dan G
  19. I'm backing off Al Franken. At least in the sense that what he did was not even in the same league as what Moore did. Franken kissed a grown woman without her permission, and had someone take a stupid picture. Moore molested a child and tried to stick his dick in another child's mouth. They are NOT the same. - Dan G
  20. Wow. Huge scandal in the Clinton campaign! A woman was sexually harassed, complained to the campaign, and the man was fired. Of course most Trump people can't read past the headline, so this will be brought up as further evidence that Hillary is morally equivalent to Trump. - Dan G
  21. The only reason we'll lose our hard-ons for firearms is because we'll have awesome laser guns by then. - Dan G

  23. I did a tandem a year and a half ago to celebrate my 20th sky birthday. I would have rented gear and done a currency jump, but a physical disability requires me to use custom gear. I haven't made a solo skydive in almost eight years. - Dan G
