I work with a guy who insists on saying "Been there, done that." about skydiving, in regards to his one tandem jump that he did several years ago. He always saiys this when ever my AFF jumps come up as a topic. He says hes "Too good for it." Whatever that means...

Any one seen this "crazy skydive/skiing video"
Grips replied to lundis's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Awesome video. They've been doing something like this in the past with kitesurfing kites. This is a lot better though. -
What are you bringing to your thanksgiving dinner?

I really miss Thanksgiving. I haven't had one since 2001. -
Joe Kittinger Jump from 120k (Video)
Grips replied to chrismgtis's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
Cool video. According to wikipedia it is debatable if he actually broke the sound barrier or not... According to Kittinger, he broke the speed of sound during that famous highest jump. This may be debatable, as other references give his peak speed at 614 (988 km/h) or 618 (994 km/h) miles per hour, or mach 0.9. Nevertheless, he occasionally ribs Chuck Yeager about being the first man to break the speed of sound. -

I've heard this before. I want to try someday, but what makes Balloon Jumps so great!?

I agree with you, but its people like the liar that was mentioned that turn work places into Kindergarten. Everybody starts taddeling on eachother, making notes, etc, and then Adults begin to be treated like children. You can't really win when these kinda of people work in the enviroment.

I want one. We have to wait til March down here.

Yeah, I finally got to jump last Wednesday. My 3rd attempt at AFF 3. I have to work weekends, so the only day I can get out there is Wednesday, weather permitting of course. Hopefully with summer that will change.

Dude, just count your calories. A couple of years ago, I lost 15 kilos without even exercising! (except for some light weight lifting, nothing big). Exercise is a huge plus, and totally recommended, but you can lose the weight without it. You should check out sparkpeople.com They have a really good program that helps you keep track of your calories consumed, adds up calories in food for you, etc.

Just got back from watching their practice session today. My face is nice and sunburnt now. I think I'll put some sun block on tomorrow. Heres a few pics I took from todays action. Pretty cool stuff. I might hit South Perth tomorrow for some closer shots of them in the course. It is a bit of a trade off though, because where I was today, you can get awesome shots of them taking off.

I'm stoked. The Races are on Sunday, but the festivities begin tomorrow. I got my backpack, my camera, and plenty of memory. I hope to get some good shots. Has anybody else seen these guys in action?

I'd like to see the results of somebody with 9, or 10,000 jumps, or more, and compare to someone with 5000, 1000, and less. Do you think somebody with over 10,000 jumps or more would have similar results with somebody that has 1000?

Is this game released yet? Anybody play it?

So I finally made it to the DZ today, I got to do 1 jump on the last load of the day. It was my 3rd attempt for AFF 3. I'm still struggling with it, and need to do that jump over, again. Which is fine, I still had fun. I'm struggling with my turns, and a little bit of stability. I felt pretty good through most of the dive though, and think it went better then my last. Anyway, we don't have any Wind Tunnels in Perth, the nearest one is in just outside of Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. So, we might be heading up that way for a few days to log some tunnel time. Question is, how much tunnel time do you think (ballpark figure) for AFF student to help them get through these stages? I'm thinking of booking about a half an hour. Also has anybody been?http://www.extremesportscafe.com/skydiving_tunnel.html How was your experience with them? Thanks.

Guns don't kill people, Vegemite does.

Thanks, I just checked out their website. They have a 210 lb weight limit for tandems, which from the sounds of it is the same across the board for Colorado since they are higher in elevation. I don't think it looks very promising.

With my low amount of jumps, I still wanna share the love. I am trying to get my Pops a tandem jump for his up and coming birthday. However there are a couple of obstacles. One is I'm overseas in Australia, and Pops lives in Colorado. I've tried eMailing a dZ in Colorado, (I believe it is located in Colorado Springs). They have not replied yet. I didn't think it would be difficult to purchase a gift voucher online via a credit card, but apparently it is...? Also, the weight factor. I did a little searching around on the forums, and from what I read it is possible to tandem a larger fella. Pops is 6'4" and around the 240-250 mark, give or take a few either way. So my question is, does anybody know of a DZ in Colorado that is willing to help? and Two, will his weight be an issue at this proposed DZ? Thanks in advance guys. I'm really excited about this!
