Charges against Omar Kadr in Guantanamo dropped
Richards replied to Richards's topic in Speakers Corner
He can make a choice. Swiss or Canadian. The exception would be if he was forced into it while travelling under circumstances where he could not have reasonably foreseen the possibility of being forced into service. No, but he could join the US army as a translator. " It's been a a little while since Canada, or Britain went to war with the US. I suspect it would be safe to allow it in the case of those countries. Fair point. Limit it to countries who we have enough cultural history with that war between us and them would be next to impossible. Between Canada, US, Britain, Australia and New Zealand is fine. Never saw this one coming http://www.cbc.ca/world/story/2007/06/04/khadr-charges.html What disapoints me more is that there is a possibility he might be coming back to Canada. This jackass clearly didn't feel any loyalty to his country when he decided to go and fight for al-qaeda against coalition (including Canadian) troops. Of course that didn't stop him from pulling his passport and demanding consular support. Nor will it stop him from coming back here and benefiting from the social services of the country he hated. Rather repugnant that his entire family who have proclaimed utter loyalty to islamic jihad have "rights" as Canadian citizens. Can't our government pass a law making it illegal for immigrants from going and serving in a foreign military? Why do people like him get away with this? Yup. Those kids will never know anything but hatred for infidels and isrealis. My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.

I get that one a lot, and I always live. No injuries. It's not a malfunction. I just can't find my pilot chute, or I am moving so slow I do not get it out on time. My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.

Thats true. Training with weapons and being indoctrinated to hate all infidels and double hate Isreal while planning for martyrdom gives them a creative outlet for which to occupy their young minds, so they aren't out on the streets getting into trouble. That pretty much sums it up. Nothing newsworthy seems to be happening here right now so they need to create a story where there isn't one. My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.

I agree, it's tragic when children are trained to hate. My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.

I know what your saying, although using that type of a character is a way of communicating to a child.. very effective i might say.. its goofy, but it works So the idea is not as daffy as I thought. Initialy I figured the guys who came up with this were mentally on pluto. I suspect he was pushing for some middle ground. That is the problem with this sort of argument. Most of the time when politicians talk equality they mean pandering to special interest groups without even coming close to the idea of equality of opportunity. Anyone who speaks out against it is accused of being anti-equality. I remember once, the Ottawa police had a disclaimer on a recruiting ad stating "We are not accepting applications from white males". When I voiced my disgust with this to a female freind of mine she said "Oh....so I suppose they should only hire white males while women stay in the kitchen and minorities work as janitors". Classic straw man. I realize that mistrust between cultures does exist, but are quotas and al these divisive programs that are implemented by politicians trying to woo the special interest group voters really the best way to go? Implementation of divisive knee jerk special interest woo-ing policy is what people like Hillary frequently mean when they say "equality". Oh Mickey you traitor. While the message is disturbing, the approach is so fucking goofy (no pun intended) that it is hard to take seriously. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gi-c6lbFGC4 My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.

The wrongs of others do not mitigate her responsibility to not act like an animal. ***You have no idea what that girl was dealing with. Judging her without knowing all the circumstances is wrong - heck, judging her at all isn't exactly the "christian" thing to do, is it? *** I'm not a practicing christian but I am disgusted by what this woman did. She could have gone for an abortion, she could have put it up for adoption. Yes as a society we do have the right to offer judgement of others. Put yourself in their shoes perhaps, to see if somehow things like this can be avoided in the future; but do not say that because her dad is a dick and her boyfreind a deadbeat that this mitigates her responsibility to not take a defenceless newborn, tie it in a plastic bag, and leave it in a garbage dumpster in the cold. I have (although it has been awhile) and what I have seen is that while the ricardian model is great with sanitized textbook exercises, like most theories it does not always hold up as well in practice. I am all for trade with 3rd world countries. I just don't beleive that we have to accept grotesque human rights violations in the name of cheaper trade. This does not mean that I don't accept the comparative advantage argument or accept that even if we do better than them in the deal, that they are better off than they were before the deal. I am not pushing for a perfect world where all trade between 1st and 3rd world countries is perfectly equitable because I know that is not realistic. I just find that too often people will use the fact that we cannot change everything as an excuse to change nothing. Agreed, but be carefull how we measure economic success. By some measures, China is doing better than Canada, yet if you look at the average standard of living it does not measure up. Some measures put Mexico not that far behind Canada yet to the best of my knowledge the minutemen have not had to put patrols out to stop millions of desperately poor canadians from sneaking across the border to work as illegal labour. I am not anti-trade (Most people find me to be too far to the right actually), nor do I expect an ideal world. I just don't think we have to always accept the status quo when it comes to ridiculously unfair trade, or human rights abuses. Strangely, while I am actually not a Bond fan I quite enjoyed this one. I guess I just liked the fact that they changed things up so much. My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
