  1. Driving behind the frickin' slow drivers around Dayton makes Ohio feel like parking lot! But, yeah, I'm all up for a Midwest Boogie! Anywhere, (almost) anytime (damn exam). There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
  2. Approximately 20 males and 4 females drinking beer heavily. The chance that one will have to pee rather than poop is pretty darned high (pooping usually comes the next morning) and the chance it's male is also high. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
  3. I don't understand how a round has a greater chance of a lineover. (I'm obviously not a rigger, so I'm just asking for more information.) Once again, I plead ignorance. But, I wouldn't have posted that rumor/myth/whatever if I did not hear it from an extremely reliable source. I guess since I jump in an area with few hazards and mostly corn, I figure a round is at least steerable enough to get me away from power lines, fences, roads, or the few trees in the area. Once again, I'm not considering a round, however, I was just curious as to the advantages. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
  4. Advantages I've heard: 1) (already mentioned here numerous times) better if you are unable to steer the canopy 2) (going against what I read here, and being ignorant to this, I am not sure why this would be true) less likely to have a malfunction on a round 3) (once again, being ignorant, I have no idea of why this would be true) I heard rounds are better if you have a lower cutaway All of that being said, I do have square reserve which (if my main was cutaway) would be probably loaded just under 1 (that would honestly depend on how much beer, salt, etc I had the day before...water retentions really plays around with how much I weigh.) I have no intention of getting a round reserve, but I guess I was just curious! I guess why people don't jump rounds (as said here before) is that people don't spot for them, and it's nice to make it back to the dz. But, if I have a cutaway, having a short walk back to the packing area is the least of my concerns. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
  5. I asked her that same damn question! There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
  6. DeLand and Zhills are both pretty close. Both are also cool dzs....I had much difficulty deciding between the two! See if either have any specials going on possibly....Zhills had a helicopter when we were there ($25 to jump from it!) so that made me happy with my decision! 7. Hell yeah! Last year was sooooo much fun (who can forget that spear?) It'll be my third Mardi Gras and second Mardi Gras Boogie! Kreg (n2skdvn) is the King of it all, though. Last year, he hooked us up with a cool part of town to watch the parade and get really drunk at. New Orleans is an awesome city.....compared to the nig noggery that goes on there, I really do look like an ! Edited to add: And I am really excited since I convinced one of my really hot girlfriends that I've known for many many years to do a tandem! Happy Mardi Gras! 8. I don't like using a full face very much, since I enjoy wind in my face blah blah blah. However, I do recommend a Z1. My story (from me being a klutz) on why I recommend it: We were doing an 8-way or so out of an Otter. The count "Ready, Set..." and I bashed my Z1 right into the bar. (Some said I was lucky for wearing the helmet, however I would've seen the bar if I wasn't wearing it.) After hitting the bar hard (it "bounced" me back a foot or so in the plane), the only things wrong with my Z1 are two cracks down the visor (which I don't notice in freefall) and a small scratch where I hit my head just above the visor. It also must've absorbed some impact since I think I only had a small unnnoticeable (except when I pointed it out) bruise. Another thing, I know Jumperpaula has had problems with them coming off of her in freefall, but mine has always stayed secure even though I have a S head and am using the L lining. 9. Oh that sucks! I had no idea that was your home! Oh well...maybe I'll catch ya around at Mardi Gras! (You better go again this year!) Nope, we were there for that day! We were there on a Saturday, they weren't extremely busy, but I guess too busy to talk to us. Hey! What are you saying about my skills? There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
  10. I actually agree with this! At fraternity parties, my friends and I would put the seats back up (if they were the guys' private bathrooms without a urinal.) There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
  11. These girls just haven't perfected The Squat. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
  12. you only jump with oren because i do. That man is officially cool since I kept calling him by the wrong name (Warren), and he didn't say anything mean to me! And his jumps were fun! There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
  13. That's why you gotta get on 12-ways that can't fit into the Porter
  14. Yup...I've got black and blue w/some purple and a touch of white thrown in there. I would like to have had blue and pink, but if I ever needed to sell it, these colors are more "neutral" and will sell easier to those that care. My second rig is black and pink. AND IT'S FOR SALE! Help support my wind tunnel time fund! There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
  15. Yep, that sounds about right. I'm with Phree on this one. Winter sucks. And winter is just playing mean tricks around here Today...sunny high around 50! That'd be great if I didn't work. Saturday...cloudy high around 20. Weather gods hate me. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
  16. I've heard a couple of advantages of jumping a round reserve, and I was just curious if anyone out there currently does. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
  17. Well, hell....this should be interesting....and my boss isn't here yet.... Skydive Indiana (4 different locations ) Skydive Goshen Richmond Jerry's Skydiving Circus Indiana Skydiving Academy Chicagoland Skydiving Skydive Chicago Skydive Illinois Millennium Skydiving WFFC (Rantoul and Quincy) Illinois Valley Parachute Club Sky Knight Sport Parachute Club Skydive Arizona Arizona Skydiving Gold Coast Skydivers Skydive Lake Wales Skydive DeLand Skydive City (Zhills) Blue Sky Adventures I think that's it but I'm guessing there might be one or two I am forgetting. 18. Yep, my Economics friend said that same thing. He highly recommended a ROTH account. (I've slacked and still haven't done it, however.) Especially since I plan on buying a house within the next couple of years, he said that this was the way to go. I'm not sure if anyone else has checked out this site, but he also highly recommended it to me www.fool.com. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
  19. I still don't have a savings account. I have a 401K which isn't that impressive. The only real amount of savings I have is put away with an investment company. It is so damned difficult to save with this sport.... There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
  20. My first jump this year was actually kinda cool. I did a 5-way with one of my instructors from my old dz and 3 freeflyers! The dive went....tumble tumble tumble (damn freeflyers just HAD to go headdown....), a smokin' kiss pass, round, confusion, and Cajun coming down to the ground saying "I love this belly flying stuff!" 21. See....this is why I need to stop drinking so much (my other new year's resolution.) I forget all the details and just remember vague stuff. I know there was some study (surprise surprise) showing skydivers and such with something different (wrong) with their brains. Unfortunately, I don't think life experiences (except that one time I was dropped on my head) can change your biology around too much (learning, etc creates more connections, I think, but that's it.) Plus, I thought the end result was that the aluminum thing was a bunch of crap. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
  22. Hmm...but then you go back to that whole biology thing where they've noticed that "thrillseekers" are wired differently. That's weird, too. Most of my friends that I'm really close with are whuffoes. Oh...but you jump in the winter, don't ya? There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
  23. Yes, I know. I haven't heard of any specific gene or anything like that, however with studies from identical twins, certain biological features, it just shows that there is a decent chance for the clone to be homosexual. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
  24. Well, I'm not sure how authoritative it is, but some of the stuff in there did sound pretty familiar from what I read in my class. That was about 5 years ago, so I have no idea of who that source was...but yeah, it would've been more valid. And, I'm kinda working today, so that was one of the first things to get returned on my search. There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
