8am Galleria area.. Still have some winds, bit of sprinkles. Not much left. I did have a small emergency at 1:30am. We had an electrical breaker box door fly open and bang against the building. Went out to secure it. Went to bed. We never lost power, cable tv is a bit messed up. I haven't been out and about but I'll check the neighborhood and expect not much to report from here. Just so you know, the storm has taken a turn back to the west. The models are still putting it on and surrounding Houston. I'm kind of here watching local forcasts, surfing the web and doing my best to teach myself how to read models. This is Slappie being serious. If you've not left Houston by now.. DONT DO IT! You will most likely be caught in your vehicle when the storm starts to bring the rain and first bands of wind. IF you do not live in an area that is prone to flooding or near a bayou. Just brace your northern side. The storm projection has moved far enough to the east to cause the winds to switch from coming from the south to be coming from the north. Please pay attention to the news reports. Fox26 is in news mode 24/7 until this crisis is over. Also it's not been advised Rita may stall once she reaches land. Meaning Allison type rains on the eastern side of Houston. Causing massive flooding. 25+ inches of rain. Again if you are in a flood prone area get out. If not brace yourself and be ready. Run from floods, hide from winds...

Just now reported it has shifted east. This places Houston and Spaceland South East of the storm. Good for us, bad for eastern part of Texas & Lousiana. I promise you this isn't New Orleans... Looters will be shot and shot dead here in South Texas. You seriously may want to rephrase that. IF Rita does the damage to the Galveston / Matagorda bay area a Cat 4 or 5 huricane can. You might just see another 40% fuel making capasity go up like "dust in the wind" and fuel prices may spike up $2 a gallon to $4-$5 a gallon. People making light of this situation are pretty shallow.
