Sorry, but this I had to comment on.. Here in VA, firearms are a way of life for many of us. Hunting and "plinking" Yes, I am a life member of the NRA and yes I have a conceal permit. I have been entertained many many times from anti-gun individuals who really just regurgitate what some hard left radical has said. My point is the large majority of my fellow shooters are extremely cautious and saftey minded with firearms. I dont know any criminals, so cant speak for them. It is true that loosening the gun laws in FLA and VA have greatly reduced crime in both states. Dont hear any of the media reporting that. And thats the problem!!! Anti-gun comments are typically coming from folks who are so uneducated about them, that they are frightened. Mixed with thier fright and uneducation, they really come from an ignorant position on this debate. Gun safety is where the conversation ends up, at least with a good anti-gun debator. The information below is a great reality that alot of the "other side" forgets. Number of physicians in the US................ 700,000 Accidental deaths caused by phisicians..... 120,000 Accidental deaths per physician............ 0.171 Number of gun owners in US.................... 80,000,000 Number of accidental deaths per gun owners. 1,500 (all ages) Accindental deaths per gun owner............ 0.0000188 Statistically, Doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners. Not everyone has a gun, but everyone has at least one Doctor. Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must ban Doctors before this gets out of hand. As a Public Health Measure I have withheld the statistics on Lawyers for fear that the shock could cause people to seek medical aid and see a doctor! Yes, I heard your point and I to can look past differences to jump with some fun folks. But the most fun I ever had jumping is still when we all met and shot for a few hours, then went skydiving. My medication just kicked in, so I;ll keep quite again. Ban spelling!!! Then Pull and Flare!

Yeah, I think she does. She was asking pretty good questions this time also. Says she knew a little about it. They picked the other two. One looked like a Fighter Jock and the other some rock and roller (which he was). They never thought ol average looking Joe was the real DEAL! Man I am a fan of that guys!!!! He is just to much! "Free Falls"?

***And then I go back to being 'novelty skydiving friend' who is no longer able to converse about anything except a pretty esoteric sport that simultanously fascinates and bores the masses. So I end up being humoured until I can escape***. I hear that Emma! I dont bring it up because of those same reasons. Last week I got to do a 120ft night wall dive (SCUBA), then played at my first "island" DZ. What a thrilling week!!!!! Sitting with the "normal" people last night. All I did was keep my mind in the latest adventures and nod when it came to the do's and dont's of lawn care.....and whoever "Raymond" is..

Couldnt help adding to this one. Never thought I'd say it "I am a geek" whew! That wasnt hard! Living in Northern Virginia, the whole area has turned geeks. With the AOL's, TRW's, MCI's and all the other dot coms and telecom companies around here, the geeks are taking over. We have become a oasis for co-lo server companies and e-commerce start ups. LIFE IS GREAT!!!! I work with data center and IS supplies such as back up media, racks, cabinets and such. 8mm, 4mm DLT, 3590. So, any of you IT guys out there looking to buy back up tapes, etc from a fellow freefaller, please contact me. I need a rig!

I agree with SkySlut. I had the same problem. I simply practiced relaxing before exit, took a deep breath while falling and relaxed! Tried toe taps, but I found relaxing was the key. HAVE FUN!

I've seen a few tats around the dz. One is really killer. Its on his left pec, its a great below view of a head down exit with the otter in the back ground. I've also seen a closing pin and three rings on an arm.

I've been hanging with a bunch of guys since our mothers sat us next to eack other in pre-school. I'm 34, so do the math. We trout fish, we surf, we hunt (duck, deer and geese)and rock climb twicw a week at the gym. Some have gotten into hang gliding and we all are rescue rated S.U.B.A divers. We started kayaking when we were in high school, some of us went as far as guiding on the New River and The Gauley in WVA. Last year we did the anual "Drunkfest / Gauley trip" during bridge day weekend. One of the outfitters said"you freaks need to learn to skydive" We wandered over to the bridge, seen it for years, but never thought it was for me. So, last Spring we all sign up for AFF. 8 jumped that day and me, the one who organized it, was the only one to get winded out. Came back the following weekend solo, and got three in. Result is out of 8 of us, two, including me are HOOKED!!!! My goal is to get the A and a bunch of learning jumps in this year so we can head to Quincy and jump from Bells, balloons and the bi-plane!!!

Thanks for the input. I try to imagine the method, but still a bit timid about the attempt. By the time I get to altitude, I'll have phsyked the timid feeling outta my ass and will be ready go..........I hope

Front and back flips are on my plate for next aff dive. I'm not the most acrobatically (sp) inclined individual, so I'm a bit stressed. Glad to hear everyone else has no problem with them, gives me a bit of hope

To important to have a safe pregnancy in my opinion. Man! I cant even imagine seeing a 5-8 month "mom to be" riggin up. Why even risk it? IMHO Lay off the smoking, drinking and skydiving. Make a pregnancy all you can. But then I'm a dude, what do I know
