Thanks Sparky, it was nice to see you the other day. I am making a DVD showing methods to C-spine and backboard skydivers without cutting the gear off. I will send it out to anyone that gives me their info. It will take about a month to finish. I'll let you guys know when it's ready. We're a little busy at the moment at Perris. I will also travel to any DZ's that would like some help with their emergency plans and train their local responders.

Thanks for the pm's. Lots of good questions. I will make a DVD showing different gear removal methods to send out to you guys soon.

We package up a patient as part of the training. I also discuss the fulcrum points of a rig still with a non deployed reserve or with a deployed reserve and still packed main. We also discuss and view all types of helmets, tandem gear and wingsuits. We cover prone and supine positions of the patient also.

If you undo the chest and leg straps you can have an injured skydiver on a back board in 30-45 seconds with the right techniques. You can slide one arm out and then slide the rig off the other or put both arms straight up if they aren't injured and slide the rig up off. I am going to make a training DVD on the "packaging" of injured jumpers during our next course. I'll send it to you.

I recently conducted an EMS training day for the local fire, ambulance and airship providers at Perris Valley Skydiving. We covered an array of topics and discussed incidents, "what ifs" and other operational issues. We covered; 1. A basic first jump course and gear familiarization. 2. Mechanism of injury (with DVD) covering hook turns, free fall collisions, malfunctions etc. 3. Treatment of injured skydivers. (C-spine without rig cutting!) 4. Aircraft emergencies and familiarization. DZ familiarization. 5. Reviewed our DZ policies on emergencies and discussed a host of issues with some great exchange of ideas. In the near future the closet three airships will be flying in for the same course. We have a great working relationship with our local responders. If anyone would like info please pm me. (Special thanks to Karen Lewis for a great training DVD.)

Sorry...I feel shame... I was hounded by so many people on so many levels, including the Belizean Government to host a "VI" that I had to do it. On an even better note, Skydive Belize will be a full time DZ in November of 2010!

what canopy do you use for demos
grimmie replied to aerialcameraman's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Katana 120 PD 190 Triathalon 220 Mojo 220-yes, once on a demo with Marty Tilley into the 4th of July show at the Auburn Fairgrounds race track. It was a great flying canopy towing a flag. -
This is a joke...right???

Shouldn't that old dude be playing shuffleboard in a nursing home somewhere???? That is great to see! I'm not sure how old Pat Works is now, or Pat Moorehead but I have enjoyed jumping with them over the years. Mojosparky retired from jumping a while back when he was like 102 or something......and it was always fun to leap with him also! (well, he doesn't look a day over 93!)

You still have an open invitation to come down to SoCal in February and have dinner with 20 FDNY members. signed, running into burning buildings for 33 years.

It wasn't all the prosecution's screw ups nor the defense team's brilliance. Judge Ito was horribly inefficient and the jury had a collective IQ of 130...

Children are a reflection of their parents. Put good in, get good back. The socialization aspect is a double edged sword. The kids learn a LOT of bad behaviour from classmates as well. I have a friend that home schools two daughters. Amazing kids. They are both in the entertainment industry with cool careers. They also have county wide home school get togethers and field trips with the other kids. I'll put them up manners, brains and social skills against any poster here in SC...

During the Belize boogies we have jumpers mix skydiving and SCUBA during 10 days. I have one strict rule. on this area. Everyone puts 24 hours between diving and jumping. We had one jumper get the bends after waiting 24 hours to jump. That has been the only problem in five years.

I find it odd that the same people that were all for starting a war for no good reason are outraged that we want to help our own citizens due to the expense. Socialism, Naziism, etc. all brought up at town hall meetings. Trampling the Constitution, losing our freedoms, blah, blah, blah... It's sad watching the news. We have been so divided as a nation. The same folks accusing Obama of hanging with radicals didn't have a problem with GWB and his PNAC band of merrymen. Did all of this start with Karl Rove's politics? When did we all stop becoming Americans, and instead conservatives or liberals?
