That was pretty crazy last night. Four nearly "fluke" goals wasn't what I expected. It came down to the goalies like usual. When Malkin was stopped on the breakaway I knew the Pens were done. Both teams played really well and really poor at times last night. It looks more evenly matched than last year. Go Pens!!!!!!

Last year the Wings won beacause the Pens couldn't pressure them enough on the forecheck and their breakouts killed the Pens in game's 1 and 2. This is an entirely different Pens team. It all starts from their coaching. Therrien was outcoached by Babcock and had the Pens play a defensive game, not their strengths. Bylsma knows what to do with Crosby and Malkin, unleash them. This is going to come down to two players this week, Osgood and Fleury. Whoever makes the "timely" saves will win the Cup for their team. Watch for Satan and Talbot to play fantastic. Cleary and Samuelson also. The role players, as always, help win Cups in a huge way, almost as much as the goalies. (See Nystrom's Cup clincher from Tonelli years ago!) GO PENS!!!!!!

David Stern got the last laugh on the NHL. He sold Bettman to the owners and now the sport suffers from lack of exposure and over expansion. I think any long time hockey fan or former player or coach could have done a much better job. Pens in 5!

murrays, come on over to the Pens bandwagon! They touched the Prince of Wales trophy!!! Lookout Detroit!!!! Crosby and Malkin are going to rock Joe Louis!!!! GO PENS!!!! ps, sad about Peter Zezel. He was even in the movie "Youngblood".

GO PENS!!! Now can the Hawks just "punt" and we can get the rematch going!!!!!!! A Wings/Pens rematch has a lot of story lines. Ty Conklin got the Pens to the playoffs last year with stellar play. Hossa went to get a Cup in motor city. Guerin has one final shot for another. Malkin and Crosby have a LOT to prove. Revenge, Redemption...it has it all!!! The Canes had a great run, but the tank was empty by the time they met the Pens. And Cam Ward looked merely human in this series. Remember, they had a fluke final second goal to knock off the Devils. And Boston coughed up furballs like the Sharks! Thanks to Mario for saving hockey in the 'Burgh...

Babcock knows that last year Malkin was injured and Crosby still had an ankle sprain. He's been watching the Pens dismantle the East. He knows he will need fresh bodies to chase the two hottest players in the NHL.

The Hawks are toast. What a poorly played game by all of their players. No forecheck, no hard checks, no backchecks, no offense all doomed them. They tried to goon it up and the Wings were just laughing at them. Pitifull... GO PENS!!

Cam Ward kept tonight's game from being about 9-2. The Pens are the real deal this year. Why? New coach says go get 'em in the offensive zone boys! I was skeptical of Bylsma, but he's a hell of a coach! Malkin looks like a man playing against little kids out there! GO PENS!!!

At the most the Kronwall hit should have been a 2 minute roughing or interference. Did someone steal Hossa's hockey stick for this series???

Wow! What a game. I thought the Hawks were toast after that horrific 3 goals in a row collapse! Kudos to Huet. He wasn't severely tested, but he played great coming in cold. We have a series! Oh yeah... GO PENS!!!

The Avs had an AHL lineup most of the season. At least Roy would bring some passion back behind the bench and in the stands!

The Avs would be better off if he played, not coached. Their goaltending is horrible.

The Canes can't skate with the Pens. They get great shots off of the forecheck, but no rushes. The Pens "D" looked a bit slow tonight. It's a good thing their "O" was on fire. Cam Ward was just average. How the hell did Malkin backhand that in????? So on to old NHL barns. I would take a game at Maple Leaf Gardens, Chicago Stadium, The Fabulous Forum, The Igloo, The Aud or others before these new heartless, luxury suite, no atmosphere mega arenas. Damn, I must be getting old...

I went to the final two regular season Hawk games at the Stadium. They played the LA Kings on a Sunday and then the Maple Leafs on Thursday. It was LOUD!! What a great place to see a game. I hate the new arenas....
