  1. I liked it when Ulf Samuelson asked if he could vote for himself for "NHL dirtiest player" years ago! Of course he was on the Pens then.
  2. Fox News would love to have her on a show, either weekly or daily. I think the real reason she resigned is her mounting legal fees. I read a while back that her lawyer bill over "TrooperGate" was $500,000+. A wealthy GOP supporter wanted to pay it off for her but couldn't within the contribution rules. So it will be interesting to see if the bill gets paid soon. So think about it. Get out of debt a half million $$$'s, get a book deal and a talk show. WAY easier than politics and MUCH more profitable. And she doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of running for POTUS. Look for Charlie Christ and Pawlenty to make a run soon.
  3. Batman, then Johnny Quest, and the Munsters. Always with an apple butter or baloney sandwich on wonderbread. On a payday Friday I would get one of those Hostess cherry or apple pies. When I tell my kids the stories of "Olden Times" as my son likes to say, they make fun of me. I miss the 70's, who'da thunk it!
  4. I was sad to see big Hal Gill leave the Pens. Why did Montreal sign Camelleri, Gionta and Gomez? Those Smurfs will get eaten alive in the big bad East! Once again the LA Queens didn't do anything. Millions under the salary cap too. "We're nuth'n but a rich broad's tax write off." And Hossa won't get a Cup ever...
  5. The "Bent Prop" used to be amazing...
  6. Landing patterns will improve when people stop throwing their brains out with their pilot chutes. You can explain landing patterns and directions all day long, but some jumpers just don't get it, or think they are too cool to follow the crowd. Another reason for horrible landing patterns is the silliest reason of them all. So many jumpers can't stand up a landing into the wind that a no wind or small down wind landing terrifies them. Stand on the ground during a busy day, you can pick out the jumpers that have "windsock fixation". I agree with you guys about briefing the landing patterns to everyone, but like I always say... "You can always tell a skydiver, but you can't tell them much."
  7. The truth of this past election was.. The GOP could have dug up Ronny Reagan and he would have lost to Obama. The people were just exhausted after 8 long years of George W. and Dick. And Palin is just an election away from going back to the double wide.
  8. Pay your USPA dues, get to jump. Many lawsuits have taken place over the years between DZO's, jumpers,, gear makers, etc. What is your specific beef?
  9. All very valid points. However ALL applicants have to pass a written test to get hired. There are also a list of study materials each firefighter has access to before the test.
  10. You are welcome, it has been a great career. I also wanted to add... Every fire chief knows who he wants to promote before the applications are even handed out. The test is just the formality.
  11. I have been in the fire service for 30 years. This is not the first time this issue has been brought up. In Washington, DC about 25 years ago a similar testing problem was encountered. A number of black FF's were promoted over qualified white FF's after a test was challenged. It was such a major problem that there were fist fights in the firehouse. A large number of white deputy chiefs retired at the same time in disgust, leaving the department in a serious "brain drain" because of their operational knowledge. Similar issues have been going on across the nation for years involving promotions and initial hirings. It will be interesting to watch how promotional tests will be written and administered in the future for public safety positions. Here in California we take a state issued test for promotions. There is also a city portion that our chiefs write. Then there is a practical portion on teaching, role playing for employee problems, a fire simulator and an interview. Years ago it was all fire and EMS related questions. Now it is all legal issue related, Incident Command System and employee issues, with a small amount of fire department knowledge thrown in.

  13. You have a doobie stuck in your avatar ass and you're asking us for porn advice??????? BWAAAHAHAHAHA!!!!
  14. It's pretty easy to trace the death of skysurfing. Tanya Garcia-O'Brien kicked everyone's asses at every meet. The boys got tired of losing to a 105lb dynamo and sold their boards for wingsuits.
  15. This really sucks. He joined us in Belize in February and had a great time. I hadn't seen him in about 10 years and it was fun to catch up and make some leaps together. There were many posts about this on Facebook today. He just couldn't face life anymore. So sad... Fly Free Michael...
  16. I heard Mike Gallagher on the radio today lambasting Obama for not doing anything about Iran's situation. He was so over the top on his blabbering about how great it was that Bush went to Iraq and we spread democracy in the Middle East. He went on about asking the people of Normandy if we should have gotten involved or not. Comparing WWII to an Iranian uprising...geez... I think we need to just step back and let the Iranian people get ride of the hardliner, old school regime on their own. What should Obama and the USA do about the situation????
  17. You make some valid points in your post. I have to disagree with a border fence. That would be the biggest waste of money in the history of wastefull spending. I live in San Diego and "Can see Mexico from my house". The bad guys dig tunnels under the border here all of the time. A fence won't slow down illegal immigration. The only thing that would deter the current trend is to enforce the laws we currently have. The problem with that is the first time a politician wants to send back the illegals there is an uproar and that politician will lose votes. I drive up I-15 and I-5 nearly every week. There are border patrol checkpoints and another one on I-8 that I stop at to and from Skydive AZ. What a waste of time, money and effort. If the government wants to really catch everyone they could do it easily. Start raiding work places and entire neighborhoods. Start patrolling the border better. I was laughing watching that LA Lakers parade the other day. The LAPD and INS should have locked down the stadium and rounded up about a few thousand illegals, gang bangers and parolees at large. But no one wants that to happen. Why? Because the illegals have a bigger voice than US citizens. They have become a "voting block". I have been a fireman here in SoCal for 25 years. I have seen some amazing things happen here that would never be allowed in other nations. signed, future resident of Belize
  18. The "bidding" is a joke. Why does a DZ owner have to explain with a presentation what their place has to offer. Everyone already knows the set ups at all of the major DZ's. If USPA wanted to save some money they would just ask for a list of DZ's that want Nationals. Put it on a revolving schedule. Perris, Eloy, The Ranch, Spaceland, etc. Or let's hold Nationals at a really nice beachfront resort somewhere and bring in different DZ's aircraft each year.
  19. Sid shook hands in the line. The Wings coach Mike Babcock even complimented him on his leadership skills in the line. And the folks in Pittsburgh are already calling Fleury's save on Lidstrom the "Imaculate Rejection".

  21. Well hockey fans. This has been a blast. Sometime gut wrenching, sometimes exhilarating. I think the NHL needs a face for the game so bad that Sid gets overhyped. He didn't score in the finals like everyone expected, but the small things were huge. He kept Zetterberg pretty occupied. When Malkin starts speaking a little better english the league will start pumping him up, along with Ovechkin. Our sport needs it. I think MAF was incredible the final two games. He's a pretty cool customer for a goalie. But the differece maker was Max Talbot. His fight with Carcillo of the Flyers and his timely goals and hits lead the way for the Pens. The Red Wings played great, but you can't let a good, young, hungry team come back from 0-2. Sometimes I think certain people are born just to hold the Cup high. In Spite of Bettman, the Refs and a crummy TV deal I think this was one of the most exciting playoffs in a long time. And game seven was epic! It's been great talking hockey here. Let's hope we get a Pens/Wings rematch next year! See you guys in October!!!
  22. "It's a great day for hockey". Let's Go PENS!!!!!
  23. Rush Blowhard blamed the Lefty Liberals today on his show for the shooting. I think the kind of hatred that is spewed in this nation from many different factions lends itself to crazy people doing crazy shit for crazy reasons. It will be intersting to see what he says about his pent up hatred in interviews. You know that's coming...
