He did a few shows with us back in the day but not recently. I have kind of lost track of what he is up to these days. Funny how a few drinks can get you to thinking about old friends. I'm pretty sure that I will never see a waistline like that on me again. I do miss the days of the dusty Muskogee airfield. And I most certainly miss those DC-3 rides. So I was sitting here drinking buy myself which I never do and I started cleaning some old stuff out of some drawers. I found a couple of old pictures that Nancy Dwyer took of my old 4 way team at the Nationals in '84. Looking at it I guess I have changed a little in the years since, and not. My old friends are Jeanne Grivas, , Dianne Burnhardt, and Bill Jerling. I hope they are all still doing great and wishing I had stayed in touch better. OK sentimental shit over, just thought I'd share.

Yep, burnt one house down when I was young and Mom forgot to turn the new fangle automatic coffee maker off. Came home from school to a block full of fire trucks. I have actually had three houses burn down. And Twardo, no, it has nothing to do with my other pastime. There is a pyramid deal involved but you can also buy them online with no other commitment. I tried them and did see some difference for my highway mileage but for city driving. They smel like crap so don't keep them in anything but an AIRTIGHT container. Like mothballs really bad. Made me think back to when I was a kid and saw our neighbor putting mothballs in his gas tank. He was an old engineer and he told us it improved his gas mileage. Do not really understand why but they seem to have some impact. I love when the "liberals" on TV refer to Libertarians and "Conservative - Libertarians" and the Conservatives refer to us as "Liberal-Libertarians". I have been oriented towards this party since the mid late 70's and have not voted for a national candidate from the other parties since that time. Anyone who agrees lockstep with all the issues as espoused by any party needs to learn to think for themselves a little more. Something most Americans have lost the ability to do some time ago. Actually I think you and I are kind of saying the same thing. If there were more demand for the crop then the price of those crops would go up. If they went up enough then more fields would be planted and the farmers would make more money. I am by no means an economics major but just the fact that we become less dependant on oil and more dependant on renewable sources of energy seems to be a win win. Part of the old arguments about needing oil to fuel the process of converting corn,sawgrass,soy beans, or whatever into ethanol based fuels do not play anymore if we use wind and solar to power the plants that make ethanol which is starting to happen. Hell how about we don't even go the ethanol route but use diesel engines running on vegetable oils. We have the outs but just haven't gone the direction we need to because oil was always so cheap, not so these days... Depending on where you are it is actually as or more expensive. Burniong E85 will get you LESS MPG so I am not sure how a 50/50 willimprove your mileage. Here in the midwest we would love to see more of this and refining plants to produce it. Imagine if we could quit paying government subsidies to farmers to leave thier land empty of crops and let them make money producing crops to convert to fuels that make us less oil dependant. They are developing a hydrogen/ethanol research facility here that will run on wind and solar power to do the conversions so those who say that it is not energy effificient are going to start losing that argument. We are all "old farts" but we have learned those lessons in life that at your age have still yet to learn. The only way to earn free time is to have the cash in hand to use the free time. Higher education = higher bucks. That's all there is to it. You could end up like me at 48 still getting my degree. Granted I make OK bucks but it took years of work to get here. Maybe you got an inhereitance coming that could change all that but don't count on it.
