Even worse, have you seen what ATC salaries recently? And unlike pilots, these are guys who are home every night. I had no idea the money those guys make until I read an article about the job in a flying magazine a year ago. I would contend that ATCers have a much more stressful job than pilots. Any idea how much investment a pilot makes both in time and money to get to the point of flying the big birds? Those are the civilian trained pilots. The ones who come from the military make a serious long term commitment to Uncle Sam in exchange for their training. What's your point? Illinois needs a CCW Law. NOW.

I saw one news bit recently that said that pilots (don't recall the airline, sorry) were asking for a 30% (IIRC) raise to get them 'up to par' with current cost of living after taking a pay cut a couple years ago. They're also asking for another (IIRC) 30% over that, over the next 3 years for cost of living... They're currently getting over 100k... Poor kids...they'll have to settle for one summer home and only one Corvette. Wah. Illinois needs a CCW Law. NOW.
