Same here. 34 years and counting, never have needed a gun. It should also be mentioned that both Kallend and I have worked in some of the highest crime areas of Chicago during that time as well. I spent one summer living on the block that had the highest murder rate in the city (five in one week) and I STILL didn't need a gun or a knife. I've also had someone break into my car and house....yet again, never needed a gun. And honestly, if the FAA can't put fear into Daley, the NRA doesn't have a chance of ever changing that law here while he is in office. That's politics in Chicago for ya. I'm glad you do not feel you need a gun. Why should that prevent someone else? If I was on your block, I'd have a 1911 on my nightstand... Re: Politicos: Daley has an armed protective detail, Aldermen are allowed to carry. Hypocrites. Illinois needs a CCW Law. NOW.

Just trying to be hospitable...it'd be rude if you needed to give out second helpings and didn't have them available, don't you know!! Of course Fuhrer Daley and his Croni...er, Aldermen don't want to give Chicagoans the means to defend themselves...they think everyone has a personal bodyguard of Chicago Police Officers (Daley) or an unrestricted right to carry concealed in the city (Aldermen). Unless all get a personal CPD armed guard, all law abiding Chicagoans should be given the tools to protect themselves from rape, robbery, or murder. Ever try to get prompt response from the CPD during shift change? I think Public Enemy was right--911 is a joke. the number you need is 45, as in .45 ACP. Illinois needs a CCW Law. NOW.

Nor are the most vocal of posters regarding firearms/tasers, but they all think they're Johnnie Cochran or Hugo Black.. It's amusing to see how some people think their degrees in completely irrelevant fields somehow enables them to speak with any competence on American jurisprudence. An Attorney fresh out of Law school is not an expert in physics/engineering/comp sci. That flipside of that logic does not seem to stop those with degrees in those disciplines from presenting themselves as qualified to express authoritative conclusions of law.
