How are all you freaks tracking with these boots? I've got a pair and love them, but I can't seem to get my track dialed in with them since I can't get my toes pointed. My buddy points his toes outward to his sides to track, but that seems a little goofy any ideas?? Base # 942 The race is long and in the end, its only with yourself.

I believe that is correct. Base # 942 The race is long and in the end, its only with yourself.

The big weekend is fast approaching, can't wait!! So... who's going to be there?? I'll be there the 15th through the 25th. Base # 942 The race is long and in the end, its only with yourself.

I really don't want a box, but I can't figure out how to mount my stroboframe without a box. Maybe I'll have to make a bracket or something, but that'll make it taller. Hmm... Base # 942 The race is long and in the end, its only with yourself.

Nah the lipstick camera isn't for me to much of a hassle for whatcha get. So I'm thinking that I'm going to top mount my PC101, but I need a box for it that isn't too bulky. I've looked at the bonehead one and I don't like it all that much, not low profile enough. Any recomendations? Also I'd like to stroboframe mount it if it doesn't create too much of a snag potential so I can turn it around without too much hassle. Help!!! Ok so I guess I do things a lot different. But before we get into the finer points of packing I'm curious how people slow down the openings of Valved / VTEC canopies for terminal jumps? I've been hiding the center cell under the folds of the outer cells with just a little bit poking out between the two and folded on top. Also I haven't been switching the slider to the small hole for terminal jumps so maybe I need to do that rather than mess with the nose so much. But strangely my heading preformance has been dead on (knock on wood). Any advise?? Base # 942 The race is long and in the end, its only with yourself.

Do you do this for terminal jumps? I would think that you'd be taking some whippers if you do. Base # 942 The race is long and in the end, its only with yourself.

I've got a PC 101 and I want to get video of terminal jumps so nothing fancy shot wise, forward facing camera and I want to go with a top mount even though it'll be like a big dorsal fin. Base # 942 The race is long and in the end, its only with yourself.

I need ideas on how to setup my camera for base. So show me whatcha got. Base # 942 The race is long and in the end, its only with yourself.

I don't think that you'd be able to hear anyone approaching while you were climbing even if you weren't wearing headphones. Now if someone is coming up the ladder from below either its another jumper (the more likely scenario) or you are already busted so it doesn't really matter anyway. Plus I'm probably going to have only one ear piece in so that I can hear my walkie talkie if need be. Base # 942 The race is long and in the end, its only with yourself.

Don't have to worry about that b/c I'm not into microwaving my insides so I stay away from said freestander. Especially after hearing about how hot it is at the top. I've hear someone say that it was so hot that he thought his pilot chute would melt. Hmmm... sounds like to much radiation to me. Thanks for the info, I'll let you know what happens or if you come along tomorrow you'll find out sooner. Base # 942 The race is long and in the end, its only with yourself.

I'm curious if it would be a bad idea to take my iPod on my local A to keep me entertained while I climb. Would the transmission from the A be bad for or interfere with my mp3 player? Any help is appreciated. Thanks Base # 942 The race is long and in the end, its only with yourself.

Ask JJ about that... That was a nasty battle on the bb. I'm sure you can still find the thread, if you're interested. But I agree the carnage video makes you think twice and shows you the reality of the sport. We're getting away from the topic... Just a thought, but I think that we are arguing about the rare exception in base students. I really don't think that there is a large amount of people that want to get into base that have no skydiving expirence. Seriously, how many non-skydiving base wannabe's are there? Oh... Come on, if he can dish it he should be able to take it. Why don't you sensor Dd0g when he makes rude, sweeping generalizations?? And if you are going to do that then you might as well sensor anything that might be offensive to anyone. WTF?? Plus, that was worded in a very eloquent manner and I wasn’t attempting to detract from the discussion, I was just making an observation. Edited for personal attacks. Come on people, play the ball, not the players. ~Tom Aiello In regards to base jumping without any prior skydiving experience let me float this idea out there. I think that when you are comparing the two sports (if you call them a sport) you have to compare apples to apples. There is a big difference between comparing base jumps with 0 – 5 sec delays to skydiving or base jumps with 5 sec + delays to skydiving. The environment of a sub terminal base jump is very different than anything you’ll do out of a plane, but what about balloon jumps or helicopter jumps. Those can be very beneficial to learning about a sub terminal environment and like it or not you must have more than a couple of jumps under your belt before they’ll let you out of a balloon or helicopter. Now for terminal base jumps tell me how you’d explain to someone who has never done a skydive how to track, how to keep from backsliding, or the correct body position at pull time? If my memory serves me correctly there was a fatality in Norway because they held a head high attitude for too long and backslid into the wall. Think about all the little things like that, that carry over into terminal base-jumps from skydiving. What about body position at pull time? I would hate to have to try to figure that out on a base jump. It would be a lot better to learned these skills in a skydiving environment where if you make a mistake you won’t slide into the face of a cliff or tumble at pull time 400 ft from impact. Also by getting these skills built into your memory you don’t have to think about how to track or what’s the correct body position to pull from when you are on sensory overload. Just my .02 cents. How does the S3 compare to the GTI in a BASE environment?? I know the S3 is really new, but I was wondering what the initial thoughts were. Base # 942 The race is long and in the end, its only with yourself.

What is the consencious on flying a Stiletto with a birdman. The loading would be about 1.4 and I've got about 500+ jumps, quite a few of those are Birdman jumps. I realize that you should fly a canopy that you are comfortable with I'm just a little wary of the spin up that Stilettos are so well known for. So is this setup asking to get spun up? I'm totally bummed I can't make it due to overwhelming responsiblities to my molecular biology class. Thanks for the invite, let me know if you guys are planning to do this in the future. Base # 942 The race is long and in the end, its only with yourself.

I'm looking to get setup with a allround helmet and camera setup. I want to be able to freefly it, film tandems, flim RW, and birdman it. I'm thinking that the only way to do this is to have two helmets. I'm going with a PC101 so that I can have a low-profile set up for freefly and birdman, but I can't figure out how to take that camera and set it up for RW and Tandems. Any suggestions??
