  1. I just take pictures too, but I will tell/signal the TM if I see the goggles not being tight enough in the plane (not often easy to spot though), and definitely tell him after the jump. I think the well-being of the passenger I film, insofar as I can do something about it, IS part of my job as a vidiot. ciel bleu, Saskia
  2. When goggles fly up, I don't think that's funny at all... It's a pet peeve of mine when TMs fail to tighten the goggles properly (seems to be the same TMs a lot, and seems to happen with the goggles with 'soft edges' the most) it can totally ruin a passenger's jump. While this girl didn't seem to have much trouble with it, I've videod a few people who were fighting to SEE during the entire freefall. Looks crappy on video and shows bad form IMO. Never mind should you have a passenger with contacts or lasered eyes, or in winter cold or rain/ice in the air. If a passenger complains about goggles being too tight, explain that they SHOULD be tight! ciel bleu, Saskia
  3. Altico sells a collapable pilotchute + hackey handle for your Dolphin, otherwise get a kill-line bridle + pilotchute that's suitable for your rig from your rigger/gearshop, that way you may have the choice between hackey handle or orange pipe should you want that. Just about any kill-line system will do, you mainly have to make sure the accompanying pilotchute is ok for your rig, size-wise and material-wise. And color-wise if that's important to you BTW if you do wingsuit you might want to consider getting a somewhat longer bridle than standard. Now don't forget to cock your pilotchute when packing, after installing the new system ciel bleu, Saskia
  4. It's got a *harddrive*. Read the sticky ciel bleu, Saskia
  5. Yes, but I can do AVCHD HQ videos too (generally for other jumpers who do shoot in AVCHD all the time and need me and/or my computer to do the editing for some reason), these just takes a few more minutes rendering time. ciel bleu, Saskia
  6. Some pics from this year ciel bleu, Saskia
  7. From the cypres manual: ciel bleu, Saskia
  8. I'd day yes on the main if you're interested in base, although that is still a long ways off you can get a feel for the canopy and if you stick with it for 200 jumps or more, it will help you a bit for BASE. OTOH, big chance you won't be doing BASE anyway, but then this main will get you started for skydiving anyway. The rig, don't know about that, might be better if you bought something with a AAD already (AFAIK that racer will need a 2pin AAD, hard to find 2nd hand), the rig needs some work, although the reserve might be ok the rig I'd personally skip. Why not ask likestojump if he has a cheap rig & reserve to go with the main ciel bleu, Saskia
  9. The Canon would work, the Nikon D90 too, I'd stay clear of the sigma. Is the 1200 usd including glass? Good glass (say a fixed 15mm f/2.8 lens) is more important than a good camera. The Nikon D90 is a very nice camera, but it's a bit of a hassle with wired remotes, so unless you already have good nikon glass and/or a strong preference for nikon, you may want to go for a canon (or a nikon d300). If the 1200 is including glass, you might actually want to go for a lightweight rebel and get some extra batteries, fast memory cards, good cardreader etc too. The lightweight cameras are better for your neck, though I jump a heavier one because it's much better built quality and I use it a lot for other stuff too. If you do want to go pro-sumer, get pro-sumer glass too (ditch the kit lens or don't get one at all). ciel bleu, Saskia
  10. Just be careful with springos and turbulence. NOT a good combination. ciel bleu, Saskia
  11. 1 cutaway after reserve was open (FXC fire) 1 total 4 cutaways ciel bleu, Saskia
  12. I just create a folder every month, have a "tandem" folder in that and make a new folder for each jump with date and passenger name (and include the photos in there as well). If I think a video file is worth setting apart, I copy it into a "best shots" folder. When a drive is getting full I label it with start and end month. It's not that much of a system but it doesn't take much time and so far it works for me: I can quickly reproduce tandem videos, team photos and the like, if and when needed
  13. Same as for any other jumper... 3.5k EUR 16 7k EUR 20 9k EUR 22 12k EUR 26 Out of a Grand Caravan. All prices minus 1 EUR on a weekday and minus 1 EUR if you're a member. Ie, count yourself very lucky ciel bleu, Saskia
  14. No idea what those are, but have you tried the flex-Z mini? That's what we use for our kid tandempassengers and they are easy to shop for. ciel bleu, Saskia
  15. I'm thinking we're seeing more of this now that a lot of rigs have very tight riser covers (very freefly proof), most with secondary risercovers too. I know I've had my Icon release one riser much earlier than the other at least 3 times, got some video somewhere of the last time that happened, luckily all with a Pilot so didn't need to chop anything but these sure were wacky (almost 90o sideways) openings. Now I don't use the secondaries anymore, problem seems to have gone away. It's not for nothing a lot of CRW jumpers jump with their riser covers undone - even if in some cases they COULD be done up with all the extra stuff on the risers ciel bleu, Saskia
  16. I think the biggest problem with lazy pulls on wingsuits are when you've slowed down but then do not close your wings enough, that gives the pilotchute and bag time to move around in the burble thereby likely creating linetwists. If you have enough forward speed, the pilotchute will not get stuck, but sometimes the legwing is open when people (beginners) slow down because as they bend their legs the legs seem to open automatically for some ("box") and there you have your burble. Either don't slow down at all or slow down and keep your wings closed, shouldn't have much problem either way. I can't say I've ever seen or heard about a spinning problem during pull because someone flies their opening with asymmetrical wings! Because we teach a symmetrical pull, even open wings are usually quite symmetrical in my experience. If someone does have a problem with that, it needs to be fixed! ciel bleu, Saskia
  17. WHY? Yes. I jumped a demo unit. It malfunctioned. Telling me I'm at 4k when I'm already entering my landing pattern....? I decided not to believe it... Very very crappy, if not non-existant. ciel bleu, Saskia
  18. Fixed your mistake there ciel bleu, Saskia
  19. This guy? click here From that thread, turned out alright in the end, it just took a long while. Good luck anyway, and try to contact his DZ (at least that thread said he used to jump there earlier this year) SW Florida DZ ciel bleu, Saskia
  20. We're talking canopy cutaway/reserve handles here I've seen a reserve handle vanish once into a good fitting suit, just incorrectly rigged that one time (one tab difference). Luckily I could point it out on the ground
  21. Get yourself measured up, preferably by a rigger or another jumper who routinely does this. Follow the measuring instructions on the mirage website click LOL beat me to it ciel bleu, Saskia
  22. Oh well, guess that's why I jump Argus ciel bleu, Saskia

Says who? I've had a lot of canopies over the years and most of my 7cells packed up bigger than most of my 9cells. It's not a general rule. Certainly a old-fabric tri will pack up bigger than a same-size sabre 1 with some jumps on it! ciel bleu, Saskia
